Wait until we have some good loadouts for the fishy.
But I can say this much:
it doesnt need more armor.
I would say its about fine, maybe a few fine tunings here and there but mostly for weaponry (get rid of micro ghost heat pls) and the fishy is set.

No it does not. Why does it not need more armor? Well first off it is a 20 ton mech, the lightest mech chassis in the game to go with it is the locust which has basically no armor. Now the second reason is the piranha has more hard points than its counter part the locust. Which if you can figure this out you give up armor for more weapons.

They die easy but they're absolute hell if they can get behind you while you're occupied or overheated. Seems about right to me but then I can aim.

That accounts to almost any mech, though.

I can't think of anything that fast and small that's as mean at it.

Not saying it's the strongest niche but it's only a 20 tonner so...... (shrug)

had a piranha get behind my Assault and I struggled to shake the little bugger, but I also knew one was coming around a corner and he ran straight into 80mrm's and popped so it seems that in the first instance the pilot was sticking with his team and getting behind where the other was charging ahead.

Will be interesting to see after the initial new purchase fever has died down how they do in good pilot's hands.

A counter to a fast light is lbx, srm & ssrm.
To counter that are the lights inherant size, speed and ams.
If you forego the speed and ams, well...
you gonna die!!

Collission dmg to the legs can bee already enough to rip it off.

Do some solo matches or 4 v 4s if you've got people around.

Bad players in a 20 tonner are like bad players in a locust or a crit lynx. Normally only people who enjoy lights (and tend to be good in them) have been playing lights before now. There's just a lot of terribads in the pool.

Good players are doing truly stupid amounts of damage with them. You play it like a Mando, but smaller and with several times the firepower.

Not going to really say 'OP', but it's really, really strong. Especially for 20 tons.

1v1 and 4v4 matches are going to produce drastically different results than 12v12 or even 8v8. You're playing in an environment that is custom-tailored in favor of fast close-range mechs. That's going to significantly alter the outcome of any testing.

The fish needs better cockpit to be able to properly rely on situational awareness for survival as all lights should.

While I wouldn't mind minor armor quirks on arms, side torsos and legs of about 2 to 3 points for both the Piranha and the Locust I don't actually think that either mech is in actual need of those. However, the cockpit view needs a serious overhaul in form of a different camera position: The camera position for 90° FoV should be where the 60° FoV position is. The 120° position should be at about the current 90° position and the 60° position should be a bit futher to the front.

Same with locusts and commandos.

However neither Locusts nor Commandos are strong enough to warranty people boating streaks consistently in QP.

I don't know about you or anyone else, but when there is a new light, or a light-centric event, I boat streaks -- or am the light. Posted Image

i'd leave it alone for months. The last thing we need is another knee-jerk reaction.

They're deadly but extremely fragile. That's good enough for me. I'd rather PGI spend their very limited time, money, effort, and other developer resources on something -- anything -- else.

That is the key, and not another knee-jerk reaction that came as a result of an instigated whinefest. <shrugs>

The more I've driven it now, the more that I think that a cockpit revision is the most critical thing, and after that is improved, only then can real adjustments be considered. Right now, the lack of any peripheral view and the terribad front view makes it almost like running around blind.

I get solo kills in about 50% of games with the P-1. I have gotten killed in all of them, but those were good matches with few survivors usually. Not sure more armor will help this mech, it would need to be a lot more armor. ECM, yes, but get radar dep and seismic since Piranha is not getting ECM. Piranha is really play smart or die so anything that boosts awareness helps.

Well, if you have a decent robot, at least.

Glass Cannons, certainly seem adequate, until you come across a competent player
Thankfully, those are few and far between

It does not need more armor. If you're getting shot, you're doing it wrong. It's a 20 ton mech. We don't need another Oxide/Kodiak/Assassin situation on our hands.

Now the question is, HAS PGI FIXED THE "HEAT DISSIPATION" QUIRK SO THAT IT ACTUALLY WORKS?
