In theory, you could even use the bolt-on modeling to turn Charger into Hatamoto. They really are all but cosmetically twins.

And it's a large and versatile 80-ton family of chassis. One of the best older models undone in that regard.

Hmm...you have a point, but it will need something more than just a helmet crest. After looking at both of these designs side-by-side, I think the extra Hatamoto variants could be doable from the base model, but the armor of the lower torso needs to be a bit round to distinguish it from its older brother. The upper half of the mech could remain unchanged, although I would prefer the helmet crest not to be a bolt-on. Still, it could work.

Only problem I've found with the ChargerXHatamoto pack so far is the Geo. They would have to be pretty different, or people would say "Why is that Hatamoto a Charger?" and vica-versa. Speaking of, if it did happen that way, I feel it would be a bit hard to show in the 'mech artwork. Unless they circle through four images instead of three or something (IE Charger Standard, Hatamoto Standard, Charger Special, Hatamoto Hero).

The whole thing is like the Arctic Wolf in that regard.

That has Battlemech and Omnimech versions. The Charger line has Chargers and Hatamotos.

The Challenger is pretty much a Hero Charger, to be honest. It's designated as CGR-SB.

I know, but it's still a different animal that doesn't play like any other Charger or Hatamoto.... Different enough I'd call it an entirely new family member.

When the Challenger is canonized as a different variant with its own name, it does say something.

Updates: The Charger now has 143 votes and the Hatamoto-Chi has 255 votes. Though the Charger should get some more voting love.

PGI can't even manage inverse kinematics, there's absolutely no way they will ever incorporate melee

Both mechs can hold their own without melee.

What's with everyone associating this mech with melee with the Hatamoto-Chi none of the base variants I looked up doesn't even have a sword, the only one that's recorded with a sword is the Shin.

Let the melee go seriously, it unproductive to go on say something the Hatamoto-Chi can't be added because it can't use a sword seriously that's the dumbest thing to say.

I agree, and while we're at it, you might as well thrown in the Charger 3Kr as a bonus if you really want melee. That variant also has a sword and I don't see anyone bringing that up.

I'd be happy with the CGR-1A1 if we had melee... that thing hurts when it rams something... 56 damage when going full speed, follow that up with a barrage of small lasers... good times!...

oh! even better, take an A5, up engine it with a LFE, then go UAC/20+SRM12 after the ramming....

Sadly that is why we can't have things like that, it'd be down right brutal.

This needs to be said, but if you think that Hatamoto-Chi should not be in the game because of the lack of melee, then that is an illogical viewpoint. Now I know that I have posted pictures of the mech carrying the sword as a part of the Fan-art spoilers, but don't let that be the reason why the mech should not be in the game. It just doesn't make sense as melee cannot be done in MWO. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see melee in the game and if it was, I would be supporting mechs like the Hatchetman and Axman as well as Hero Mechs like the Banshee Reinesblatt. But saying that the Hatamoto would be useless because of the lack of melee is not the right mindset. Out of all the Hatamoto variants that carry a Sword, only the Shin variant has one. Even with a sword, it would still get wrecked. I understand if no one likes or wants the mech because of its silly appearance or because it is a "Thug Knockoff"(or if you would rather have that instead of the Hatamoto), but the no melee thing is a poor excuse, especially when its variants can stand its ground without a sword.

If the Charger comes in, I may paint mine in the colors of the Los Angeles Chargers:
Now only if we could have a decent lighting decal.

I hope they give it some good HP inflation. 5 energy on an 80 tonner is kinda anemic.
