Because the appearance of the Hatomato Chi inherently appeals to weebs while the charger only has the eye of the real oldbies.

Also THUG 4 LYFE! (peels out flipping the bird and fishtailing the whole way out of the parking lot)

Both have their appeals to certain audiences, the Charger looks ruff, and rugged. Typical of American/Western mech arts I can across.

Hamoto Chi features is very sleek, and appeal to more Japanese mecha art, being more human-like than a war machine.

Makes sense, seeing how it garnered 266 people. Also taking into fact that nostalgia can be one powerful drug, as shown with the most of the Clan Mechs like the Fire Moth, Rifleman IIC, Stone Rhino, etc based on their appearance in Mechwarrior 2. If it was in a computer game there you go. I guess that is another reason why the Charger hasn't had many people to support it.

I personally like the Charger looks more in those pictures, but we have quite a few western mwchs around already, so I'd really like to see MWO version of Hatamoto.

Alex knows how to turn bad TRO art into modern masterpieces, so I would love to see what he can do with both of those sibling mechs.

Yea I do to, I just hope they keep the Japanese feel for the Hatamoto I think that's one of things that attracts me to the mech. Only time will tell when Alex put his godly talents to work on these mechs.

The Dark Age version is pretty ugly, but I can see it working in MWO.

Eh I really have huge distaste for DA designs their way to blocky or just plain out stupid to look at.

Plus that Hamato Chi variant is just plain bad in art, and gameplay wise.

Torso's way to big and wide, won't roll damage well unlike the original art and the arms look like it wont do jack unlike the OG.

But it preference at the end of it.

If we want to get nostalgic there are many 3025 tech data sheet mechs that are yet to be made. Ignoring the robotech issue light mechs we have.

Vulcan (one of my personal favorites)
Whitworth
Dervish
Hermes II
Clint
Hatchetman
Scorpion
Ostroc
Ostol
Charger
Goliath (Please I would like to see this)

Lots of work for PGI still on this front even before we get to the latest era's of mechs

The Charger should definitely be added to complement the Hatamoto. I still think that the mech can be made easily from the Charger. But I wonder how Mark will treat both of the designs?

I found a "Hero" version of the Charger, but I don't think it would serve much purpose as a Hero variant.
  • Charger Storrs
"Used by MechWarrior Timothy Storrs of the Black Widow Battalion since after 3 October 3032, this modified 'Mech seems to be a CGR-SB Challenger with missing components. It has the same armor layout and speed as a CGR-SB, but is missing the large laser from the left torso and three heat sinks. Consequently, the 'Mech as described is eight tons underweight (possibly from combat damage or a botched modification). MechWarrior Storrs appears with no indication that his Charger was modified in the unit's 3031 roster and in a scenario dated 3 October 3032, while the modification is described in a scenario dated 3 March 3033 and referenced again in a scenario dated 28 March 3033; Storr and his Charger are also listed on the Black Widow Training Battalion roster after 3037, though without mentioning a modification."

But there are other notable Charger pilots that can have their own Hero Mechs, but with slight modifications.

Terry Ford was called "the luckiest MechWarrior alive" in his modified CGR-1A1 "Number Seven", until his luck ran out.
Jeremiah Rose piloted a CGR-3K Charger during the early battles of his Black Thorns.[15]
Ty Wu Non of Warrior House Hiritsu piloted a Charger at least since Operation Guerrero.[16]

Good News: The Hatamoto-Chi now has 267 votes.
Bad News: The Charger has been lowered to 148 votes (was 149).Posted Image

Maybe it's the constant bumps this thread's getting. No offense-especially because I was one of the people wanting to help champion this-but it's getting a bit weird.

Yeah, you’re probably right. As enthusiastic as I am to see two brothers in this game, I should take it down a notch. For all I know, it was probably a way to shut me up. So I will restrain myself a bit from now on.

These are builds that I would personally try on the Hatamoto and Chargers. I wonder what other builds you would try on these siblings?

My Personal Builds:
Charger-1A1
3x Medium Lasers, 2x Large Pulse Lasers

Charger-1A5
1 UAC/10, MRM 20, 2xER Small Lasers

Hatamoto-Chi
2x Heavy PPCs and 2x MRM10s

Hatamoto-Hi
6x ER Medium Lasers

Hatamoto-Chi 28Tr
2x MRM30s and 4x ER Medium Lasers

I'd suggest some commissioned art or hero builds to keep the Charger charging.

I would love to see these colors in a Charger mech pack as an NFL reference, like this:

With the Charger-1A1(S) special variant has a pattern resembling this:
