Rules are TBA, but likely include no rocket pods.
What specifically do you want to know?

Mechs & mech variants (ie HBR-A, HBR-B, etc.) will be in 7 tiers based on PGI's idea of power, and players will have a different elo within each tier based on performance.

Lol yeah, how in hell do they suppose to balance OMNIMECHS in that fashion?

Solaris will be: bring splat.
Profit.
That's exactly what Solaris will be.

The thing is if people see lots of splat, they'll counter with fast long range kiting, or flamers with headshot. I'm thinking people might want to bring at least one cool weapon or face dropping against a quicker mech with dual flamers and a PP alpha enough to core out a cockpit.

I'm not holding my breath. Will be interested to see.

Its my genuine opinion that PGI is actually running this as a better way to handle both tournament competitions, have something more E-sporty... and ultimately as a much more controlled environment for testing the balance of weapons versus builds versus exploits that players are running.
They can very easily look at how certain mechs, builds, and specific weapons are performing in extremely controlled environments.
...I just wish they put this kind of effort into faction warfare to make it something remotely close to what they said it would be back in 2013/2014 before we actually got the barebone thing we have now...

We'll see.
Arena/starting distance design makes a difference too.
In theory, you could win Solaris with a Direstar if you are a great shot every time.

They will look very different due to the addition of art assets, but the private match maps of 2v2, 4v4, etc...
Those are the maps about to be released (+1 or 2 more). Just without much of the assets.

In the context of the game I'm expecting 1v1, 2v2, and 4v4 matches, ranked separate from Tier ratings

What little of the maps we see look good, Ishiyama has my interest as this will be the first time it's depicted in Mechwarrior.

i would like to see some 2 on 1 or 3 on 1 action by tonnage. 2 lights vers a heavy and such.
I wonder how many Yen Low Wangs we see in the 1v1?

1v1 meta is already fairly well established - chassis is good hit boxes, with either mass splat (Primarily SRMs, LB-20X booster depending on chassis) or pinpoint brawling alphas (AC/20+SNPPC).
Things get a bit weird with ultra lights and Annihilators, of course, but that's to be expected. I'm curious to see what kind of brackets they'll make for the giraffe.
I hope it's grouped with the Atlas. That would be hilarious.

That does make some kind of sense. You don't have to rebalance a mech for 1v1, you just lower or raise it's tier.
