Best Solo Mechs?

After six QP team losses in a row (although I did skill up on some of them), I've decided to abandon any mechs that rely teamwork in order to operate (in yolo-Q). The chances of getting rolled for two hours straight are too damn high.

So what's the best style of mech for getting kills on a team full of potatoes? Gauss Snipers? SRMs? LMG/HMG face-hugging? Rockets?

Imagine your whole team spreads out like a line of pack man dots every game.
What mech/build do you want to be in?

For me? My 2x LBX20 and 4x SRM6 Scorch. Might as well try to bring down as many as I can before I die.

Generally midranged Mechs are the most 'pug proof.' Standard Clan Lasers Vomit (Hellbringer), Gauss/Laser Vomit (Deathstroke, Gausshammer), stuff like that.

Pirates bane is my favourite. (The Locust hero, really is worth a pick up if you like speedy lights. Best MC ever spent next to my Yen Lo imo)

Panther 10K with 2xErppc.
If the team is suiciding, might as well snipe.
Also enough damage to hold off a couple of light 'Mechs.

If its one of those nights that this is constantly happening and none of my unit are around i just stop playing. If your constantly on teams where you have most damage/kills and you are losing 12- whatever you can kill ... its not worth playing imo.

For me it's been hell with the osr-se. I dumped a lot of gxp into it up to 85 and it sucked until I figured out how to play it since it is so huge compared to my raven and jenner. Fight at optimal weapon range has been working ok for me. I was doing 125-200 dmg until I started fighting at range now i'm doing 300-500 dmg games. I might have to remove my sensor points for more range and cool down. Best way to skill up is let a team mate take focus while you orbit and shoot what ever your team mate is shooting. Making it 2 vs 1 helps in solo q.

When the games are pure nascar and there's not much to be done about it, I like to troll it up in my loyalty Kitfox using either LRM 20, LRM 15, tag + a flamer or be slightly more serious with ATM 12, ATM 3, er med laser x2, both with ECM. Your match scores won't be huge but that's not the point - you get to be one of the most annoying things on the field.

For a more serious answer, popular streamers with excellent skill such as B33f, Bear_Cl4w, Twinkie, and Proton sometimes fall into similar moods you are describing and they reach for either one of two mechs at this current time. A very fast small mech such as a Piranha to solo destroy things or a 'sluggo' IS mech armed with 2 heavy gauss. It's always one of these two different types.

mediums and heavys have good Mobility and Firepower ...bushwackers and linebackers good Mechs ...Timberwolfs or Marauders and warhammers or Thunderbolts..never Assaults ...this to slow to reacting and come in Cover without Team support. when you will enough Damage and Kills for alone..Lights good by red potatoes , by a Good enemy group with Focus Fire and good Aim and Tactical Awarness thats very fast Dead mechs.

Clan laser vomit is what I usually turn to when I'm really frustrated. Hellbringer, Hunchback II, or MadCat. Those are mechs where at least you know that when you have a bad match, it's not the fault of your mech. It's most likely your fault, or possibly the result of really good OpFor (or really bad teammates). But it ain't the mech.

Crabs, fast and tanky for 50 tons. The other team will tend to shoot the heavys first allowing you to maneuver and deal damage.

I find myself enjoying medium poptarts, with various PPCs. Like Griffins. Or urbie with HPPC. It can even be snubPPC with some aSRM6, for short range. Or, like my very old pre-quirk Griffin, ERPPC + aLRM15 - horrid loadout if you think about it, but real fun because it cannot forgive you being passive.
Not necessarily very effective way to play, but JJs give you more freedom, which is very helpful in solo Q. And medium mech gives you speed to run away to be tactically agile. And if game fails - there is no pressure, you just a medium.

Though i love rare games when everything comes to massive brawl. I wish we could have more of this.

HBR prime. Its almost the perfect mech and can play almost any role.

When I'm having a bad streak, I almost always fall back on the Hellbringer.

Does the GYR function similar to an HBR just slower?

No. Way less mobility, can't really laservomit well. Too much free tonnage, not enough critslots. Gauss + Lasers or boat UACs.

For me, I like to run a support mech that can fire at the enemy while the rest of the team either pushes or gets run over. You pick a big assault on your team, and while the enemy is going after them, you help keep them alive a little longer and maybe help them take one or two with them. Or even better, you amplify their firepower if they successfully make a push.

The Kit Fox is great for this, because besides helping them with ECM and AMS, you can do quite a bit of damage with your lasers and MGs, or maybe even a missile salvo. I had one of my best games ever with the 4 high mounted laser torsos of the Purifier, some MGs and an ATM. One side got wiped out, but my support fire and missile barrage helped keep alive a big stupid teammate who wandered off about 400 meters to one side by himself. Then with the mechs I was supporting we managed to kill enough mechs to make up for the half of the team that got wiped out on one side. I was then able to kill a bunch of mechs and do a lot of damage and we won.

The best way to deal with a bad team is to use your team's big mechs as meat shields, and make sure they are firing at your big guys instead of you while you wail away on them. You have to stay off the front line and keep a low profile.

The Night Gyr is crap(was allways imho bht thats an other story), moves like an assault anx lacks critspace bcs of omnimech.
The HBR is the way to go for a good match expirience. Fast, nimble, ecm and a good amount of free tonage and critspace for laservomit.

Deathstrike, Parana, or the Hellbringer. All 3 take advantage of the latest and greatest in the meta, 12 machine guns, gauss vomit, or clan laser vomit + ECM.

Wolfhound-2's pretty good for if you want some easymode pug wins. Just stay away from the one or two good players on the enemy team who brought some frontloaded damage and you're fine. Got the speed so you can cover lots of ground between all the bads on your team who split up, got enough damage and armor to kill any other light mech that gives chase or tries to defend the enemy team's backfield, and you can just walk up behind people and blast their rear apart or just peek frontally and get some free damage off on people who don't have split second reaction times.
