I think the Jacket, the baseball Cap, the key fob, the Wall banner have quite a bit of real value, myself.

The game will be solid and looks fun, we didn't get to test that part, though the amount of work Kiva and the artists have put in, is amazing, and I think people will get their monies worth.

The sand pit 4v4 battle were a lot of fun, even against that not very intelligent A.I. but in the full campaign, I'm sure many people will be glad of it's peculiarities. as losing a mech will be very bad.

As a Battletech game it's pretty good, you do feel 'involved' it's not just pushing tokens on a playing surface, and the character personalities vary from likeable, to please shut up, so very much like a Mech warrior forum Posted Image

Not everything is all roses coming into bloom though

Up until October, HBS had a pretty bang up version of a 3025 era game, what was different wasn't to drastic, and it felt good.

Then Paradox got involved.

From that moment a third party was involved you just knew the WarHammer and the Marauder were going to be sacrificed, due to the legal battle with HG, though it took months for HBS to finally admit they were scrubbed.

The replacements are well one was Definately not going to be in the game because it's not Cannon and the other isn't either, but now HBS have suddenly ignored the lore and done a 180 for one of the mechs. Plus hard point and crit slot inflation suddenly appeared along with the Atlas II.

For me, the creators of my favourite franchise of all time, changing things on a whim, or for populist gain, caused me to lose a great deal of respect for them, because if they changed things at the drop of a hat, (PGI's mech design rules are ironically far more lore accurate) why should anyone really care about the franchise.

The lore is what sets this out from being just another robot battle game, and for bits to be so casually ignored, or changed saddens me, which put a big dent in my enthusiasm for the new game.

I suppose at the end of the day how much of a fan for 3025 era is going to be how much you like this game, if your big for it, this is going to feel watered down, if not I think you'll be blown away by how good it is.

So that's why people are upset with Paradox. I could understand they didn't want to publish the game if it involved HG potentially raking them over the coals too. From a business perspective it makes sense. Unlike PGI and HBS who clearly want to fight HG for the sake of the franchise as a whole. Paradox is just publishing and doesn't care about the franchise.

But I find it hard to believe they were involved in core game decisions that late in the game.

They absolutely did not. Having Paradox as a publisher comes with a lot of dangers, but absolute none of what Cathy describes is any of them. For better or worse, that's all HBS.

And really... blaming Paradox for removing the Unseen mechs? That's petty and dumb. And even if it was Paradox's decision, we should be thanking them for it. Because including them at this point would be beyond stupid.

That's up to the lawyers to decide. It could also be viewed by the jury as "why did HBS remove them if they were innocent".
There's an argument for both sides.

What on Earth gave you the impression you're playing a female?

That's impossible because you create your character via a customization tool that they have yet to show in any screenshots or videos. The only characters you have seen are your *crew*. The lady in the story trailer is your *client*.

Awesome ! Thank you for clarifying. The list of characters that i saw was from a pc gamer article i believe.

I prefer character customization so that everyone can have that sense of immersion.

You can create custom characters for you and the people you have under your employment. No clue what the issue is here..

To the paradox issues

as for the warhammer being removed, Unless something has changed in the last month, Mitch said in one of his podcasts they are coming, they just got pushed back. He also explained about what the pardox involvement is all about. It was a podcast from this year, last month, the only one so far this year he talks about the mechs, and joining paradox. (there is also a new pod cast coming on the 29th, the last before the game is launched next month)

Paradox is a huge publishing house that is helping with Q&A and localization, not to mention a gigantic fanbase and does cross promotional stuff all the time. IMO Big upside. Downside, some of the things pushed back till after launch will be DLC for people that didn't pre-order(my take on what was posted as they said, anyone already bought in will get for free, I think the subtext of that is, if you didn't it will most likely be DLC.)

It also means if the game does well they could have future backing, which could mean lots DLC/Content in the future. I play a few paradox games that people like to complain about DLC and how it all should of been in the game at launch.. you know like CKII back in 2012 it shouldn't have taken a entire team of people 6 years to make it all. I personally really enjoyed playing the game all these years and like that they add things to games and i buy when i want, or play older patches. I see exactly this same thing happening here though probably not as much as a machine as a game like CKII or EUIV. I certainly hope they have DLC/Expansions in the future.

We will see, but from what I've seen with paradox and smaller companies it has only helped them in the long run. They also have a great rep for extremely high quality Strategy games and could bring in lots of fans/money outside of the typical BT players which is a huge upside. If just 5% of their fans bought it that would add more players than kickstarter/pre-odered the game in the first place. Millions of people play their games. You regularly see paradox games in the steam top 50, and add up a few of um and that is 100k+ players all online playing their games at the same time. That is bad how exactly?
