No thanks.
I would do BT with a rotoscope-like style. Real fluid animation and real grimy design. Heavier line weight for the mechs and combat stuff.

Another one I liked is A.I.C.O. Incarnation.

The problem here is simple. Battletech is not and has never been big in Japan outside of them liking the old simulator pods (those even had a cameo in some random OVA a few years back). Chances of some anime director proposing a Battletech-based anime are thus realistically non-existent.
To answer a long dead question,
Most anime mecha by far are brand new original IP. Only Gundam happens to be the recurring mecha franchise. And even with Iron Blood Orphans, Gundam isn't even the most popular mecha anime.
Last year the popular one was Darling in the Franxx, and it may have more to do with the waifus than the mechs. It still has to be said that the numbers of mecha anime remain thin these days as mecha anime are just not as popular as they once was back in the '70s to the '90s, thanks to the surge of slice of life, moe, fantasy and isekai anime.
This year, Price of Smiles caught my eye. Despite the fluffy looking characters, show gets dark and tragic quickly. The story is shown from two sides of a war being fought with mechs. Like Darling, Smiles is a totally original IP.
A "Battletech" anime need not be sold to existing audiences who know BT, which there won't be enough to justify the show, but to a brand new audience. Like for example, how many have seen the Rage of Bahamut series which was in Amazon or Netflix (not sure which).
I am sure by far those who watched the show English dubbed and streamed in Netflix or Amazon, doesn't even know that this was a game, and ever played the game. This was actually a mobile card based game that was popular at some point but over time, was pulled out from global regions and became Japan only. I watched it, I enjoyed it, and I never played the game.
A Battletech anime can be just like that. It caters to a brand new audience, should not require you to play the game or have some background knowledge of BT lore, no need for lengthy exposition, with the show only feeding the audience bit by bit what they need to move the story. The only thing it needs to be is to be entertaining.

Kind of like the Samurai Jack cartoon. Westerners cannot properly separate Chinese and Japanese cultures. They only have this vague view of a globular "oriental" culture that combines both.
Japanese don't use dragons as emblems to start with. Using a dragon emblem is very Chinese.

Doesn't matter; a good chuck of this community cant help nit picking fan projects until the creators give up on them, I'm sure they would double down on criticizing anything officially released.

Akira, Neo Tokyo dark? Compared to some many anime today they would be light grey.
You haven't seen Attack on Titan? Do you think that's fluffy?
Netflix is well known for being the host of some particularly dark anime.
Knights of Sidonia. Think of it like Attack on Titan with mechs and in outer space.
Devilman Crybaby goes down as among the most gruesome anime I ever watched.
Ajin: Demi Human. This show is literally sick in the head.

Back then, this anime was pretty gruesome too.
