Greeting MechWarriors,

After much investigation, we found a server in Perth which we believe to be a great strategic location, for the reason that it is the best compromise for every region. We will be switching over to this server in Perth from the current one in Sydney tomorrow, April 3rd at noon PDT for another OC server test session. We'd love to receive your feedback on your experiences on this server test and thank you very much for your contribution!

lets hope that makes a difference to how the rest of the world routes to australia .... because the issue tends to not be data crossing east to west here .... on the big hauls, its around 50 ms over the 4000km ...

anyway, if you want some IP's to ping / traceroute for 'general feel' ... try

Perth should yield a ping of 70-90ms for those of us on the East Coast of Australia.

Where is the EU server? I get 350 ping to it, which has a noticeable decrease of hitreg vs the say 250 I get to NA.

I'm not sure PGI understand how bad Australian Internet is here.. Western Australia will be as bad as Singapore.. if not worse for everyone.. West coast Australia has worse internet than East coast..

I had 130ms to singapore (on a good day) from Brisbane Aus, so i'm guessing 130 will be about what i get to WA..

You can try and make the whole player base happy. But its never going to happen. It doesn't help that our internet infrastructure is really not the most advanced to be a national server. It doesn't help that Australia is the same Size as Europe. Put the server in one of our Asian neighbour. I'm sure it will fair alot better over there then here. Australia is really out of the way to be a national server. Honkong be alot quicker. My 2 cents

just because its crap down most of the streets still, and most of the ISP's in the country are so used to herding noobs that thats the only thing they are really good at, doesnt actually make it bad, for everyone ....

I've got FTTP, I can multiplex 4 connections on the equipment I have ... for 400mbit .... I'm sorry the stupid people of australia voted the liberals in and screwed everybody, every way, they could possibly think of ... you should probably feel lucky you didnt ask our government for 'protection' from someone worse, because that **** sends you to Nauru .... and the ping from there is BAD ...

@ PGI -- I hope your choice of Perth works out well in this Second Round of Server Location Testing.

Before these Tests began, I was getting 'Ping > 260' to the Original Location (Singapore), which wasn't good at all. During the First Round, I was getting 'Ping > 300' to Sydney, which was definitely worse. It would be nice to see it get better worldwide for everyone to the Server in that Locale, better than it has been to those two other spots.

where from, and when was the last time you thought about changing internet provider .... TPG is for your grandma, not your games ...

Cause less server = more population per server. With just NA and SEA server, I do not think anyone will have over 300 ms ping. Unless they are from Africa or something.

That's true. But if the pings are terrible, we might get less players, period.

Up to 250 ms is very workable for MWO due to HSR and the less twitchy nature of the game.

I could get 80 to Singapore in Perth but only with iinet, TPG is 300 to singapore. There are direct exchanges between Singapore and Perth but many ISPs dont use it because its expensive apparently.
