The Fafnir is supposed to be the meanest, baddest, -->B-R-A-W-L-I-N-G<-- 'Mech walking. And in fact the ONLY one that SHOULD be able to face-tank an Annihilator and win! But not the way it's configured and armored here. It does not have the armor or the firepower to do so. What we "complainers" want, is for PGI to make this 'Mech what it is supposed to be BEFORE it drops. So those of us that have chosen to plank down real money for this "monster" battlemech to get what we paid for!

And I would like to remind you of what happened, when PGI injected Mechs into that game that were simply overpowered with quirks. What happened back then? They were nerfed to put them in a line with others and people started complaining because their new shiny toys were not easy-win anymore.

Moreover I disagree with your statement that AMS and / or ECM are being usesless. The only thing you should perhaps do is invest some skillpoints in the appropriate sub trees!

Once more for you: The Fafnir IN MWO is not meant to be a brawler. Yes you can play it like that, but in PGI's game the Fafnir is more likey to be a mid range fighter, due to its profile and ECM capability. Ifyou do not keep this in mind and just want to force YOUR gameplay onto a mech that is not really suited for it, don't call it DOA, please.

Yep, the Faf is a mid-range direct fire support/assassin Mech. it's not meant to brawl, it's meant to cripple opponents at range, then move in for the kill. a Brawler is a mid-short-range that's designed to go toe-to-toe with an opponent and slug it out and still come out on top.

Dont they update these countdowns daily anymore? It has been those decals for two days straight.
What is going on? Are the urbie gods mad for no urbieIIc was anounced in april???

In PGI's defense, Leviathan, they ARE releasing a lot more than just the Fafnir on Tuesday. Solaris is a bigger deal than any mech pack, even one for one of the more popular chassis.

Most of the countdowns would not post over the weekend, either. Some did, some didn't. Two days without an update is reasonable; especially with NGNG busy promoting Battletech's release in two weeks as well as the Solaris drop. Scale will likely come out tomorrow.

Well, it can't be both larger than the Atlas from the front and longer than the King Crab from the side, can it? <3 Since PGI does volumetric scaling between mechs of the same tonnage, and shaped the Fafnir like a plus sign (+) from the top-down, I'm curious what the front and side profiles looks like.

you could just watch the video, you know. it gives a pretty good shot of the profile and headon.

Slightly curious as I've not played in a while - what nerfs have they done to AMS?

Very little to compare it to accurately in the new bay with the way the camera moves. Looking at the two videos, I wouldn't be suprised if the thing is just *Barely* taller than the rifleman. Again, without being able to say the camera's are in 100% the same position you can't tell accurately.

@DFM: yeah, but my point is the previous guy was asking about all of its dimensions, not just its height. you can get a pretty good sense of the kind of target profile the Faf's going to have from watching the vid. plus you can get a semi-decent sense of scale on it by looking at how it matches up to the walls of the Leopard Dropship bay it's in. i'd actually Ballpark it being around or just under the height of most of the smaller Assaults, Battlemasters, Victors, Awesomes, etc, and probably about one and a half times to twice as wide as an Awesome.

Well on the hitboxes. After reviewing the vid like 5 times i can't help but notice a few things.
A/ You only need to turn the torso a little bit to "hide" the opposite side torso from the cameras PoV.
B/ The arms are relativly big. Hiding a large portion of the side torso behind it. It are not perfect Shield arms, but they could work fairly wel to either crab walk or torso twist.
C/ You can almost always see the ct no matter how you turn the Mech. So the CT just might the prime target.

Still it remains to be seen when the Mech is released.

well, if the CT does end up being the primary target, the Faf might ironically get XLed more often if they never get STed, leading to a surprisingly fast assault.

I fear the Fafnir may need stronger defensive quirks but we'll see.

Don't get me wrong i like ANH but the head sticks so far out on top the reds see you coming frome miles away. With no defensive stuff like ecm you get lurmed to death fast, no matter how much armor quirks u get.
