Sure, makes sense.
But why are ALL of the Fafnirs in division 1 before we've had a chance to use them at all? Does this mean that they're OP?
Is putting them in Div 1 before they hit the server is blatant P2W, just me?

It's pretty funny that they not only had to ban Flamers from Solaris, but also any build with 7 or more of HPPC, CERPPC, or any Clan large-sized laser.

Wonder what else is gonna be banned next? I call either Rocket Launchers or MRMs.

EDIT: Whoops, misread the patch notes. Flamers are not actually banned anymore, they just have a Solaris-specific nerf that doesn't apply to other modes. Still funny though.

abit surprised the DWF is a SolarisDiv1 Mech, where as the KDK-3 is a SolarisDiv2 Mech,
did not see that coming, well then again this is 1v1 and 2v2,

so according to them 6 heavy larges is still a reasonable build, good to know

Also, I'm not sure why the Clan Light MG had to get nerfed and Clan Heavy MG get half buff and half nerf when the only offender was the standard MG.

New flamer mechanics for Solaris, interesting. At least it's better than outright banning them.

EDIT: I thought I heard they were making jump jets for heavier 'Mechs much better. These changes don't look all that big to me, which is a shame.

Looks good!

But I think they're opening pandora's box by showing they can change weapon profiles based on mode.

perhaps but also showing that Solaris will have diffrent Trial Mechs then QP/GP and FP,

personally i feel, that FP needs to have its own Set of Trail Mechs based on your Faction,
those Trial mechs would be in that Factions Camo, and offer some RP elements to playing FP, ;)

That would be cool. Ideally with two mechs per class (long range and cool brawler maybe) for flavor/balance/whatever that are community submitted.

I just think showing that they can balance by the mode is going to buff crying.

And another thing, about the map temperature changes. I made a little spreadsheet comparing the old to the new:

Overall map temperatures are coming down a bit across the board, with cold maps getting warmer and hot maps getting less hot for the most part.

But in all seriousness, nothing too big in this patch. I'm mostly hyped for Mech Bay 2.0 and Bolt-Ons.

Hmmm, so, they aren't outright banning Flamers, MG nerf was only to Clan MGs, still no sign of Solaris city map, and minor JJ buff. Well, its a start at least.

It means they don't know where they are in terms of balance yet, so they put them in the highest division to keep them from accidentally steam rolling the lower ones.

Looking at some of those division allotments... oh, man, this is gonna be fun. I just wish I could take lights into Div1 to bully the inevitable assaults doing assault things.

Ok so my thoughts.


SOLARIS
  • Solaris Divions... FML. Some of that doesn't make much sense at all. I'd love to say I am surprised, but I am really not. This is going to take a year to get right given after a year of Skill Maze nothing has really happened. divisions, 7 buckets. :/
  • Flamer backflip still has me ROFL'ing.
  • Spectator seems largely a joke... How is that going to work with load times? Are players gonna be made to wait 2-3mins while speccie's load? Otherwise they might well miss the "boat"
  • Direstar nuke is pretty decent.
  • Bolt ons - I care not for this so, meh.

THE REST
  • Mechbay thing looks cool. Not sure it's a worthwhile resource investment given the gaping holes everywhere else.
  • Supply Cache thing has been done right it seems.
  • Faction Play - Ah what? I think they mean Season 3? Cause we are currently in Season 2... Not that it means anything under 1-bucket.
  • Map temp changes? Ridiculous. But I see why, overall it just hurts uneducated players so that's just dumb.
  • MASC - Nothing major, was hoping for more.
  • JJs - Amen.
  • MGs - LOL... The bads complaining about the PIR are not gonna be happy with that, barely a change there.
  • Flamer change overall is interesting. Kinda breaks it for Normal Play though with heat scale after 4 because they are only GOOD WHEN BOATED. When has 2-3 flamers ever really been that good?
  • LRM change is funny, won't make much difference given most people fire them @ 800m from the back of the field.


Overall still no fixes to... Stale gameplay.
  • IS SPL / Small Laser & cSPL - FFS just eat your pride Chris and fix them.
  • SRMs spread is still akin to throwing sand into the wind. Make them good again!!!!
  • cUAC is still only useable when boated.
  • IS UAC is still a little too hot.
  • ACs in general still feel just a tad anemic.
  • Light Gauss still sucks.
  • And a bunch of other stuff still sucks.

Copying the Divisions page in't excel just isn't coming across well. Anyone got a version done there pls?

Yes, just being lazy on don't want to more manually bring it across.
