Assault Mechs Need Some Attention

without the ability to properly address this, having light mechs fighting assaults in say Div2, is going to be a problem, especially when all they have to do is hug an atlas's leg, and fire away.

not easy to do on an AS7-S...
Look, I get 2 arm hardpoints, both of those are lasers... that's IT... on the AS7-S There's NO reason I shouldn't be able to aim my torso down the extra couple of meters to hit something that's right up against my legs... literally no reason for it.

I do, for all the good 2 mlas does against a single light hugging my leg.
Ummmmmmm Put something heavier in there?
The problem is all you big bad assaults put all your heavy weaponry in your Torso's because you think its kewl or something to use your arms to protect your torso's. Well sorry but we lights know this and take advantage of it.
YOU CHOOSE to not put anything heavy in your arms.... So YOU CHOOSE to be vulnerable to ANTYHING that can get under your torso pitch.

Easy, you will fall over if you bend over to far.

Ok, how about this: In lore, I'd have just reached down and picked the ****** up and thrown him across the ******* arena.
Or, I could have kicked him and knocked him over.
Given I'm not allowed those options, an adjustment to assaults to allow further waist pitch traversal, seems like a fair compromise.

Only if lights get a change to a few things as well.

Lore is irrelevant. Stop complaining and adjust to how things are, instead of expecting things to adjust to suit you.
Lights are almost entirely negligible in Solaris, so complaining about them is silly.

That's what the crit for the Gyro is for.
As for the bit about "Protecting the torso's with the arms." No, actually... I run pretty close to a stock lore build myself. The heavy weaponry is the torso's is because that's where the Missile and Ballistic racks are.
Look man, I've fought in every weightclass, I've been here since 20-*******-12 and I've seen all the ******** arguments over the years. Lights chewing assaults's legs off in a 1v1 while viable for the light, is insanely unfair for the assault who has literally, no defense. As a light you have speed on your side, and arguably, some decent firepower... You can dodge around me ALL DAY.
So it's kinda sad, you'd cling on to what's clearly a broken issue, just because you want some easy kills. if I had just 2 more meters of traversal on those guns, you'd have to play smarter, and work for the kill. But I guess that's too much for you.

What would you want to change for lights in return for better pitch for assaults? I'm willing to hash this out.

Of course, if you are taking an assault into Solaris, you definitely should be looking at the mobility tree for torso pitch/yaw/speed.

Does it actually do enough to be viable? To be honest, I'd actually forgotten about the mobility tree.

Like not paper thin armor with silly heatsink regulations like on the Locust when its already strained for tonnage as it is? Or some being as big as a billboard with legs that is made of cardboard that has flamers duct taped too it-like the Firestarter?

I love Lights, but its so much better to run a fast Heavy/Medium nowadays if you got the need for speed.
@OP: If you are having a hard time hitting Lights hugging your legs; invest in having some heavier weaponry in your arms. Its what I do in my Awesome. 2x SRM4-ARTY with a LPL really puts the hurting on a immobile bug like a Light. Maybe invest in having two LPL's instead of MDLas?

Yes. Considering the AWS is in the trash-tier for Assaults basically, I have found that I spend more of my SKPTs on Mobility than attack these days as it works far better to make you survive bad engagements-while also nullifying one of the huge weaknesses most Assaults have...
...LACK OF MOBILITY.
Seriously, its like driving a boat without the points invested into it.

Fair enough, I don't actually run the Piranha or Atlas's (often) so that's entirely possible. The lights I do run the last thing I want to do is actually rub armor.
