It's at 70% positive reviews and there are 400 negative reviews of the game.
All of which are citing various technical issues all around.

So the game is good, it just has a 30% chance of being unplayable. Which is quite a lot and the people who find themselves a part of those 30% have all the right in the world to be angry, IMHO. A really poor showing on the part of Harebrained schemes considering just how many times they've postponed the release date to prevent this exact thing from happening. Posted Image

Xcom 2 (wotc) had major stability issues initially and vanilla xcom 2 was actually unplayable in the beginning and for several months for a huge number of ppl because of various monster bugs.

Id give it some time.

I watched 2 longer lets plays and the players had a blast. One of them I know from xcom 2 wotc and his review was point on. That was/is prolly the single best turned based game I ever played. If he says its a ton of fun then it is good and I saw the lets play. It looks fun. Sounds fun. Cool characters, immersion, pretty complex, a lot to learn and great combat and establishing and upgrading your mercenaries. Its pretty awesome from what I have seen.

Installing it right now.

Played for an hour yesterday on the laptop (i7 6920 @2.9ghz, 16gb ram, Quattro 2000m @ 1080p, SSD + 5400rpm drive). No game breaking issues, a couple graphics things, clipping, follow cam weirdness, animations not being perfect etc. Couldn't sign in to paradox servers to get my goodies, but it may have been the train wifi as well.

Campaign story is fully engaging, music is great, artwork, cutscene animations, and illustrative style are solid. Looking forward to playing it more.

The game may be incredibly buggy and have poor performance even on a modern gaming PC like mine...but you can select "they" as your pronoun so all is forgiven.

All hail the great SJW gods of HBS.

(I've also been watching them ban anyone who brings it up, which is pretty funny)

I don't pre-order any more, but, i was going to purchase this game..

Do they really think catering to the SJW sect is going to sell more games? *sigh*

By the same token. I find it silly that people care so much about the inclusion of 'they'.

So I'm just going to put it out there... Magistry of Canopus. The most human-rights oriented place in the entirety of the Inner Sphere or Periphery. Their primary export is Porn, and they have cybernetic catgirls... do you REALLY think they don't offer "they" as a non-binary gender option out there?

honestly, if you're going to cry that much about a simple toggle [which might I add, simply puts all the character portraits available to you without having them gendered.... which can lead to roleplaying "mysterious shadow figure types." by the way.] Then good, go find some game that doesn't cowtail to the "SJW agenda".

I mean, there are some valid critisim's to have over this game, optimization being a big one, when I can't get a solid 60FPS out of this game on a GTX 970 at medium settings, on a system running 8 cores at 4.3ghz and 32 gigs DDR3 ram... there's something wrong.

Well I only have 8 gigs of ram. I'm hearing you need at least 16 for it to run smooth. Not sure how true that is. But the load screens are making MWO look good. So I might have to look for a sale on memory.

I played this for about 4 hours last night. My experience has been pretty good. No glitches or errors so far and my FPS seem good (I'm running it with a GTX1060, 32 GB Ram, M.2 SSD, Rhyzen 7 1800X build I just made a month or two back).

I appreciate that it is turn based as that is closer to the roots of Battletech as a table top game. Some of my favorite games I played back in the day were turn based like Civilization and KOTOR.

The "They" thing was weird but like an adult I saw it, didn't agree with it but decided to ignore it and not throw a tantrum about.

Worth the money IMO if you are a Battletech fan

There's apparently a huge memory leak which got into the game and was simply included in the HW requirements to make the launch.
As such, it might not be such a bad idea to hold out and wait for it to get fixed. Especially since the alternative would mean buying RAM at its most expensive point in decades and still rising.

Man, I want this game, but I'm pretty sure it isn't going to run well on this machine; I7 x990 4ghz, 8 gb ddr3, Nvidia GTX 480

Kind of holding out on spending money on more components. I don't have pcie 3.0 and can't run whatever the newer ram standard is. I guess with a better card I can transplant it to a new system.. I dunno, seems like a waste.

Woot! just looted a Dragon 1N form Liberation Panzyr... damn that was a hard mission, I only just managed to pull it off by the skin of my teeth, thank to a couple of luck heat shots... I was left with 2 turns on the clock before the mission failed...

Next mission out with my shinny new Dragon, I'm fighting pirates that have a freaking Orion 1K... well my character is in the med bay for 93 days thanks to a head shot from the Orion....Posted Image Still better than losing another pilot.

Okay, I have close to 20 hours into the game. Here's a breakdown involving system demands and performance I've seen.
My humble desktop has - Athlon 845 x4 quad processor (like 60 bucks, but strong single core processing power), 16 gigs of ram, 750 oc ti Nvidia GPU (it's old), Windows 7 64 bit, Seagate 1 TB hard drive x2.

When I first played the game thick burning flame particle effects or mars planet scapes with dust devils were giving me frame rate loss at 1920x1080 resolution, full screen, with High graphics. I had to go with Medium which are not bad at all, and that instantly took care of my frame rate performance hit (went from like 35 to back to 60 in thick fights). Load times however were LONG. Like, longer than Mechwarrior Online long which is pretty bad right now.

Did some reading, downloaded the latest Nvidia driver that had an update just for this game, did a registry clean, full defrag on both drives, turned off Sync Cloud Save from GoG's Galaxy (pretty much the same as Steam's service), and my load times dropped a lot (less than MWO now). So you can have a budget desktop and this game WILL run pretty well for you. For what it's worth, this same system runs MWO on High settings excluding Particles on low and no shadows at 60 FPS, dropping to 48 in River City.

The game itself is absurdly good. Hairbrained schemes knocked it out of the park. Pretend that you have a game that will require a total play time equal to a Final Fantasy game, excepting it's Battletech. I'm very much looking forward to the first expansion.

Yeah I'll skip this one. You want to make a SJW game don't expect me to buy it. Money saved is money earned.

Spent the last two evenings playing this and having a great time. The missions, the combat, the art style and music, it all meshes well. I'm enjoying the slower pace and the fact it's turn based. Here's a game where I can make a Vindicator into the linchpin of a medium lance and not be laughed off the map.

Haven't had any bugs or graphical misshaps that were worth mentioning yet and my old system hasn't been a liability to the gameplay ( except once were the FPS noticably dropped to single digits during a fight sequence )

The best 35$ I've spent in a long while.

Great marks to HBS but donkey hat to Paradox for this "sign in to play multiplayer" nonsense.

I got it yesterday, and have been having a lot of fun with it since.

Only problems I've got with it:
1) It's a bit slow; actions, especially movement, need to have a slider option to increase the speed.
2) Maxed out GPU usage in main menu screen and during character creation. I had to turn on vsync and change a few other settings to get it to drop to a normal level.

And in regards to the 'They' topic, IMO anyone that has a problem with it is no different to the SJWs that complain about games not including such options.

Battletech turned out to be amazing! Far better than anything I hoped for backing it.

Really? Your loss. I've seen absolutely nothing else in the game so far that even hints at SJW apologism and even that bit is debatable.

My recc would be to get over that and just buy it, but it's your money.

PS : I can't stand SJW **** either.

Haven't gotten around to playing a lot of it because I got annoyed at crashing, but when it isn't crashing it runs okay and this poor computer is an old trooper. i7 1.6ghz, Radeon HD 5870 mobility, and 12GB of memory, only real issue is it like to freeze up or crash when going to the dropship if I am in fullscreen, hadn't noticed it crash in windowed. I just hate playing the fights in windowed.

But it is fun and makes me very happy, this weekend probably sit down and play for a good bit.

So far its still buggy and have poor optimization and it can destroy your GPU. I would buy and play it if they fix the poor optimization and squashed many bugs.

But so far the devs is just silent after release and no upcoming patch or update that will fix the poor optimization yet.

Same here...can't even get to the loading screen. Just 'double click on the icon and instant crash.'

Downloading mine. Got to say, strange feelings of having gone a full circle here, when I first played Crescent Hawks Inception on my PC clone with DOS. I think that game was on EGA graphics. I still remember versions of it for the Commodore. Was it the C64 or Amiga? Or both?

If you like TBS games and Battletech, you will enjoy this game.

Only about 6 hours in and loving it so far. They did a great job with the UI except for the dopey follow cam.

Only downside is that you can't make the dual AC2 Locust.
