Why no MAD-4X FLG?

I mean know that it would be very similar to the 4H.... But still the 4X is a unique unit.

Oh, I like the MAD-4X very much, but the list is only for the 100t Marauder II variants.
The list of 75t Marauder variants is actually far more varied and much better. Posted Image

Odd that the Marauder & Marauder II both simply use MAD as their designating characters, but there we go.

Confusing indeed but according to fluff the Marauder II literally started out as a modification of the Marauder, with mostly the legs changed, and lots of stuff added (armour, SHS etc.).

So is it more like the 70 ton Jagermechs, "just a bit heavier" or is it officially designated the Marauder II at some point, since it's in a new weight class?

It's totally officially the Marauder II, it just started from a modified Marauder chassis, which is why I assume they kept the MAD-deisgnation. But with early FASA, who knows?

Right, forgot that they both use the same designation letters and numbers... really makes it frustrating to tell them apart just by call letters and numbers sometimes....

It won't be thicc if viewed from the front. The design is different.

It will be, because the design is still of similar architecture to the original MAD and the Nightstar. Ergo, it will have massive side vents.

Also, the center torso would be hard to distinguish from the side torsos, so by controlling in the model how big the hitboxes for each are, it can be easily made to be a very durable 'mech by just making the CT relatively smaller (Anyways, opponents will have a hard time guessing!)

The CT already isn't hard to distinguish on any of the MAD-based 'Mechs in the game, what on earth makes you think this one will be different? On the MAD and MAD-IIC, you shoot the central ridge and get CT from any angle except rear. On the NSR, you shoot the nose. EZ.

Of course if you shoot the "absolute center", what I mean is there is no defining "line" that clearly divides CT from LT and RT. it is much more obvious on, say, Fafnir.

If you call yourself a serious mechwarrior you would already know that Marauders and Timberwolves are known as good shapes to spread damage. It is not that hard to stop being foolhardy.

In other news, now that the lawsuit it gone... can we haz?

If you call yourself a competent 'MechWarrior, you realize that both the IS and the Clan Marauders have a central spine that clearly delineates where the CT is relative to the sides and you can always shoot it except from rear angles. The Marauder line is good at spreading general incoming fire, but an opponent choosing his shots will put the damage wherever he wants. The combination of poor agility on 100 ton 'Mechs combined with the larger size is going to end poorly, like the Nightstar which, despite an even less obvious CT, pretty much always gets CT drilled.

And even if the CT isn't the prime target, as with the Marauder IIC, the sides will evaporate. Especially the right torso.

I hope you like the blood asp STs because that is going to be twice as high and twice as big.

At best, this ends with the 'Mech having the same problem as the Stalker: weapons removed early and often.

I don't really want another Marauder that's supposed to have a top gun but actually ends up with a side gun because hit boxes, personally.

I'd rather have that disappointment over something like the Men Shen because at least that's new.

For the IS Assault

Marauder II
Devastator (Looks like the love child of Warhammer and Atlas)
Longbow (Though they could use the MW4 version at anytime, but it is nothing more than a missile boat)

For IS Heavy

Ceasar
Ostroc
Ostsol

For IS Light

Valkyrie
Stinger
Wasp

So plenty of picks this coming month as it is IS month.

This is what I mean for example with good geometry and hard to target/distinguish center torso:

Because some people play dense.

The Marauder II would not be anywhere near that. Think about something in between the Nightstar and the Marauder IIC.
PGI likes to inflate vents a lot. The Nightstar in canon e.g. is an extremely sleek and elongated design without much frontal profile. The Nightstar in MWO is none of that.

Also, please don't call others dense. That is not only rude it is also not terribly wise in a discussion about the potential performance of a Mech when everybody can open Jarlslist.

Okay so how many MADs do we need.
We have:
MAD
MAD IIC
Nightstar
not to mention CTF, which is made from MAD parts

But then the
TBR, named after MAD for its IS callsign
and MCII, which is directly called MAD to market to the IS

Then MADII
man talk about confusing callsigns...

I didn't actually have that listed as something that would cause issue with HG as it didn't remind me of anything that I saw when looking over anything Macross related. It is seen in my Massive Mech List .

All of them. Also, new PGI originals at mechcon: the M4C, M4C II, and M4C IIC; for maximum confusion.

Also, we need the Marauder II C (vs the Marauder IIC, which is a different mech).

Two Blazers and 2 SRM/6's... she's a beast in TT...

Blazers are just doal Large Laser, so nothing more than a MAD-5D
e.g. 4x LL, 2x SRM6:

I like the MAD and also MAD2, but it's hard to come up with something that you can not already build with the Kaiju.
e.g. 2x HPPC, 2x ML, HGauss:

Ghostheat.

Two Binary Laser Cannon (probably) could/should be fired without ghostheat. Also it uses a single hardpoint. The Bombast laser might be an alternative, but since we cannot expect any new weapons this is a purely academic discussion.
Anyway, compared to two LL the greatest TT advantage of the Blazer is focussing all its damage on one component. That's a big deal.
