I'd say that a single slot does not qualify the chassis for "high mounted PPCs" (note the plural there).

The post I originally quoted mentioned the Enforcer, which can also only mount 1 high PPC, so by their own standards the Black Knight qualifies. As does the Phoenix Hawk.

Plus, if we're getting technical, "high mounted ppc's" is nonsense because of the apostrophe Posted Image

yes shure, but when was the last time you tried putting high mounted ppc's on a IS mech, yes some of them have high mounts, like grasshopper, enforcer one and the banshee... oh the banshee ... ppc's are pushed down when there are lasers used every time, so to get (up to)3 high mounted ppc's you need to stuff 12 tonns and 8 critical slots for 4 light ppc'sbefore you can even use the high mounts. no wonder you don't see ppc's on those kind of mechs because PGI decided that IS decks out their mechs bottom up with big guns allays pushed down and Clans Top down with most weapons allays head level.

and the heat? yes IS mechs run hot slower but at some point you're hot and then clans have WAY more dissipation especially on energy based mechs IS can't put DHs in legs and torso endo and ferro take double the room so you go with one of those but that limits the amount of heatsinks even more. I have seen how fast a ebon jaguar cools down compared to my grasshopper and thats with twice the firepower at least

Jaeger, Blackjack, Rifleman, Fafnir? I have not problem destroying Ebon Jags with my IS Mechs, Ebon Jags have huge hitboxes and they only cool down fast, because they have so many fixed slots that they can not really boat weapons.

From your text here it seems that you just have a problem with hill-peaking snipers.

i know my comments are salty beyond reason it's just i don't want to wear a gimp suit every time i'm not using one of those mechs and i know some of the mechs i menioned have variants without that many high mounts and to stay consistent with the locations they also fill from the bottom for example the 4 balistic banshee or cyclops,,, still, You could have 2 ballistic in chest and head hights but you have to invest at least 2 MG's to get there AND only if you using below caliber 10 weapons, btw. am 90 or 95 ton mech with 2 MG's and 2 Ac5's makes you want to kick yourself in the D.

And those mechs you mentioned also have bad hitboxes, relatively low armor and still half the range, damage and to top that most likely slower

It isn't a secret, the more weapons you can put on a target the faster it disappears.

While there is now a real city map and others have vertical structures, side peaking is most likeky not opening all your weapons to shoot. Hill peaking is more likely a way to bring all your weapons in action, except you're in an nova or cataphract where it is a wonder why those two don't have carts on their arms to hold those up

I have no issue killing people in IS, nor Clan against either side. Comes down to skill and how you pilot your mech at the end of the day. I've been playing both sides for YEARS, favoring IS more due to heat efficiency, and don't see what in the world people are complaining about balance wise. There are some issues, but when it comes to the whole laser range thing and what not.. Keep your head down and get into a better position. Play as a team and stop trying to be Rambo. Honestly it's simple, you all just make things harder for yourselves by not knowing how to play the game the way it's intended.

Had a match earlier in my stock pod hellbringer f. Loadout is erppc right arm lb10x er med left arm 2 er med torsos and a srm6 in right torso. My main dps is all in my low mount arms. Many clan mechs have low mounts. Like Todd said it is all how you play it. Ended with 500 dmg and 2 kills and 3 kmdd.

I worked with a mad-bh taking turns hill humping and pounding the flanks of the other team. I would crest and fire then back down to cool and he would take my place and do the same.

Solaris City is probably a bad example of Clan superiority, the IS has more good brawlers and Annihilators, Fafnirs, Atlases, King Crabs and others work very well on that map. Yes, Clans have the Kodiak and the Dire Wolf, and Solaris is probably the only map where a brawling Dire Wolf can actually shine, but with shorter cooldowns / durations and less heat, the IS usually has the edge in brawls.

i used solaris as an excemple of maps not using mostly hill peaking so you're right on that one EXCEPT your team doesn't believe in the myth of the mighty "W"- key

Nice to see the Incubus (aka Vixen) make it into MWO,This is actually my favorite Second Line light clan mech from the old tabletop game. Its well armed, armored and fairly speedy, great addition to the game. Look forward to pre-ordering it on my next payday (a few days away). Though I am an IS pilot, I definitely see myself playing around with this one for quick play.

Thanks PGI, Now if only you guys could come up with Quad mech physics and melee (Scorpion, Goliath, Tarantula, Hatchetman, Axeman) Then I'd be truly happy as those are some of my favorites.. well.. maybe not the Goliath, but I rather like the others and they'd be nice to see in the game, I'm curious on what your take on them would be.

I personally am more likely to charge the enemy (sometimes to my detriment), but in quickplay there is usually a herd mentality and people tend to do whatever they see the majority of their team mates doing regardless of whether they pilot a Clan Mech or IS Mech. As many people have said before "Teamwork is OP".

Normally lights are instant buys for me. Actually this also looks like a light to my heart.
I might do it, later, but honestly, the pre-order bonuses haven't ever been as appealing as since the marauder iic.

My concerns for this light is that it's a 30-tonner, making it as big as a kitfox /cheetah. Kitfoxes are not the best example of mobility. I hope it will be more mobile than an ice ferret (not referring to speed). Speaking of which, buff that undergunned ferret. Considering the larger incubus size - I question how survivable it will be: as survivable as the cheetah, or glass canon like the piranha..

I'm guessing this mech should be a direct alternative to the jumping cheetah, trading jump jets for speed. Therefore it would have identical mobility and armor. Personally I think that makes the mech very niche. It's probably going to be too big and sluggish to take micros (piranha territory), so we're back at small's and mediums. Long range will be dominated by the jumping cheetah's as they have always done. I'm guessing medium lasers are too heavy/hot, better fit to a fast medium mech, and when we consider that this mech at 30 tons, should be able to shoot at 200m, I'm expecting it will be a missile/small laser/ mg mech. Guess it may work as a skirmisher if the mobility is good enough.

I'd have rather seen this for a 25-tonner, to get a clan commando :) guess that wait will be a very long time from now.

Don't hold your breath, they took collisions out of the game because they could not get it right and gave up on it.

True, but IK was scrapped because too many people have low-end computers that could not handle it (although the Mechs in BATTLETECH have IK and yes, I know it is a different type of game). Also, how many years have we been using the "placeholder" Clan Autocannons since it is apparently still not possible to get the Clan LBX A/Cs to toggle between LBX and standard A/C? Yes, I still hold out hope that some of these things will get fixed someday, but it is not likely (at least until maybe MWO2 on the Unreal 4 engine).

With the removal of 32-bit support, several of the oldest (and usually lower-powered) computers are no longer relevant. But I don't expect IK unless they move to a different game engine (MWO 2).

Honestly, I thought the IK removal was because of sync issues between the client and server regarding leg hit box positions.

It will be a wonderful day when PGI will finish MW5 and rush MWO, with pleasure and in the shortest time transferring it to a wonderful new UE4.. Posted Image

Yes, I would love to see MWO in UE4, although if they totally shut down MWO and transitioned to MWO2 on UE4, they would have to compensate the people who spent thousands over the years on MWO in some way, or there will be torches and pitchforks. Trion is updating Defiance with new graphics and streamlined (more easily monetized) gameplay in Defiance 3050 and they are compensating the "veteran players" from Defiance by giving them large amounts of premium currency in the new game as well as xp boosts and free premium class / skin unlocks, which seems to be reasonable (although I doubt that any spent as much money in Defiance as people do in MWO).

Why these difficulties? Just transfer all accounts Posted Image

We don't have to pay for it, it's their job, and they have the resources to do this.
Because the game with the current engine is stalled and very outdated (although it still looks great on ultra graphics + TXAA)
BUT I would gladly buy something like Release 2.0 support pack
With the developments in MW5, the transfer engine will be much easier. This is a vital improvement for the project, they must do it. It will not be MWO 2, but a MWO 2.0 patch Posted Image This will give the game an invaluable leap in development and prosperity, which we all so much want

I believe that it was someone from PGI who said on Reddit is Twitter or somewhere that moving MWO to UE4 would be too much work for a patch or a DLC and would most likely not happen unless they made a MWO 2. Really, though, it would just be easier for them to add PVP of some sort to MW5.

Exactly! This should be something like this, copy MW5 and convert to MWO 2.0..)
We all understand that MWO on UE4 will look very similar to MW5 Posted Image
I don't see any problems
