Seems the Flea is gonna be tankier than the Locust, while having slightly less agility. Minimal offensive quirks, though there are some nice MG boating options there. I don't think it will be as good as the Piranha though, in terms of lethality.


*edit* Looks like the Flea is even shorter than the Locust. Should be real fun playing it in River City water area. ;)

I don't think that was ever in the cards, in the first place.

And the MG quirk isn't even that high for mere 2 ballistic point. I'm keep hoping that the IS will get a 20 tonner that can rival the Piranha, but that doesn't seem possible.

It's about farming salt with MGs and laughing maniacally while doing it.

Hope to see Clanners posting "MGs OP, plz nerf" within hours of Flea going live.

If they'd assign quirks like 100% MG RoF that might be something. I was really hoping the flea would have that just for the sake of fire power to heat efficiency. It would make a lot of the inner sphere lights that aren't the wolfhound, urbie and raven a lot scarier.

Yeah there is a whole bunch of mechs with this stupid quirk philosophy, let's quirk the single hardpoint that nobody uses so the quirk might as well not exist, then use those redundant quirks as an excuse for not giving it the quirks it would need to compete. So mind bogglingly dumb.

They really need to go over the IS mechs and direct the weapon quirks towards helping the best builds be competitive.

Hardly possible because IS MGs are considerable heavier and each ton counts when it comes to light mechs

And if the Flea really poses a problem...you will see more and more streaks

I wouldnt be surpised to see some purist clanners do that.
Remember though that it seemed is purist went full ballistic on the piranha when it was released. Corrections, blamed the poor adaptability of countering lights AND blame the puny mg,s gods forbid that mg could actually be useful..... Cant have that you know Posted Image Just sad if pgi nerfs mg, flamers and rockets.

Their logic is that they want the 2 ballistic hardpoints to not be useless on that variant. Two baseline MGs of any type are borderline useless. Of course PGI's quirk isn't big enough to change this, but I guess the thought counts...

Again, the idea is to try to make that head hardpoint actually useful. They failed at that job quite miserably, but it's not a bad idea at face value. I dunno about you, but I don't like useless hardpoints on my gundams.

I think that a useless hardpoint is more likely to count against the total "power budget" of a mech than a useless quirk. PGI likes to fixate on those on-paper hardpoint counts more than their practical application.

I mean, just look at the Flea quirks this thread was made to reference. Definitely some really crappy ones in there (lol 5% missile spread on a 20-ton light).

IS MG laughably bad, the best flea is 5ml+ecm+masc, but too bad it's not cbill bonus woulda bought it.

I'll take my Ember with its 25% rof and lasers. Decided the Flea would play too much like my seven locusts so I passed on them. I guess it comes down to a quirk battle between them for people choosing. Here's hoping when I finally get the stinger/wasp it'll been worth the wait.

Worse yet is the few fools that arm their mechs to take advantage of that kind of quirk. Its like its meant to trick people.

The only Thunderbolt you'll fit in the head will be the TBolt5, which really doesn't gain much over the normal LRM5 for its 50% increased tonnage.
