Why Do I Have To Press "o" At The Start Of Every Match?

Topic.

Many good players have Override turned on exclusively, all the time. When you weigh benefits versus risks, it's easy to see why; most would trade a bit of structure damage to having their mech shut down (and get eaten alive) in front of an enemy assault. So why is it there is no option to have this on by default, like arm lock?

I've had more than my share of dumb deaths to this, mostly involving going over 100% by 1 or 2% by mistiming an alpha a quarter-second too early. It's very much a problem on big alpha builds, since you always have to keep an eye on your percentage. Of course, keeping override on makes it easy to mitigate -- but sometimes, you forget to turn it on when the match starts.

Please add a checkbox in gameplay options to have Override turned on by default. This is a simple quality-of-life feature that should have been added years ago.

I too would love having an option for some sort of toggle in the options menu that makes override permanent, AND takes away the flashy warning sign.

As op said nothing is more annoying than briefly touching 100% heat and suffer what is essentially a 5 second stun and often a free kill for enemy team.

Yes, I’ve wanted this for a good six months now. 90% of the time I remember to turn override on before the match starts. But once in a while I forget and die a stupid death. Give us the option please.

I'll throw in my vote for "yes please", I would really like this option added!

Turn on override is first thing I do every match, before I'm even out the dropship. Except on those occasions where a friend/someone I know is also in the match n I try to chat to them before the match begins, forget to hit override, and more often then not get a silly reminder by end the match that there was something important I forgot!

This thread highlights the issue of the currently lenient heat penalty. This is exactly why we need progressive heat penalty in MWO.

Could do it so anything between 0 to 30 is safe and anything from 30 to 60 gets progressively penalized and after that anything above 60 is immediate shutdown and/or damage to internals.

I'd like a "hotload LRM" check box as well in Mechlab :D

10 seconds delay from first heat check. You're under the threshold you're fine

First check is when you begin building heat until you reach neutral heat ( for your Mech).

It would also allow removing ghost heat as it wouldn't be needed for stupid hot builds

Direstar would still be death penalty XD

It took 6 years to implement mech loadout save and load feature. So I figure we'll get an override toggle sometime around 2024, 2 years after the Quarathian invasion of 2022.

I have plenty of ideas on how to make it work. Alas, PGI is deaf to my pleas.

The ability to set override on by default and a ghost heat safe mode are two settings that are IMO huge QOL features that should be in the game.

Be nice, could also add an indicator by the actual heat meter to let you know if override is on or not. Seems like a better place than the always flashing in the same spot as all the other messages near the top of the screen. And speaking of hud changes, also add in a grid location next to the targeting reticle and selected enemies.

I've pulled off the p key lots of times before a match. Not much you can do when you have half a team dead despite your attempts to win then find 4 plus enemy after you so might as well bash o and go out with an alpha or two in a vain attempt to do some more damage or get a lucky hit and take one with you.

Please, allow us to set override on by default is is better for a pilot to choose to turn it off in battle then have to remember to turn it on.

I'm not against it, but I do think you guys are nuts with how hard some of you push that override in completely safe situations.

I would love to have an option to have override on by default. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten my head ventilated because I was riding the heat line and just went a smidge over 100%, thinking override was on, surprise, it wasn't. Then all I can do is watch as my enemy lines up the kill blow.

A permanent override setting is a terrible thing. It's already bad enough you can press it once, but it should only be possible to do that if you're one of the last 4 alive. I don't know how many times I've seen people destroy their own 'Mech to ineffectively try to get one last alpha. It might be understandable if people use override to fire one more weapon, but no, people have to alpha and die. Basically, just learn to control firing your weapons and build more heat efficient 'Mechs.
