Seems those FP events of the past worked out for PGI.
Good for them and the FP players, and in a different way for me: I don't really have the time, and I couldn't care less about FP.

FP is the best part of MWO once you get to know people and start getting invites.

Is it possible toget 1 MC for every match played? in the future? I'm trying to get my boys into faction but they say its too hard, and we dont want to have to join a unit

If ur boys r find it 2 hard try not going tip 2 tip. Sometime u need 2 be flexible and receive a unit invite

gee it would be nice if loyalists had the option to join in on these events, as per special temporary faction play contract.

Hell, I've been here for about a week and a half. This is the third event in that time, I think. And, well, I still have no clue how this stuff works. The game told me to pick a faction, so I did. (chose FRR because it's doomed, but didn't know that'd doom me to a purgatory of no event play). I mean, are we SUPPOSED to faction to participate? Is there no penalty to loyalty? If so, what is the point of loyalty?

It's Davion vs Liao. If you want rewards you need to be one of those factions. Become a Merc in Faction Play section, choose Davion or Liao and wait for the event to begin Posted Image

Don't become a loyalist just yet. Break your contract and choose another for the event (Davion or Liao). You won't get Merc loyalty points till your probation expires but that's ok, not a big deal, PGI is working on removing probation anyway ;) Also FP will undergo some changes soon so we accept this mess as playable till it gets fixed. Just accept your Faction Play fate and you will have fun :D

Back in day loyalty meant something, very little, but something. Drop in active base took it all away. Resent change took most penalties away from faction swapping.

Special events you need to be part of factions that fight, else you get zip. And event rate is way above "normal".

There is no probation on merc side, but requires you to be a part of unit, even if 1 man.

I've switched from clan diamond shark to jade falcon, both loyalists. No probation matches indicated (below the faction in the top left corner).

You switched from merc contract to another.

switch from jade falcon to merc afterwards to see if i had probation or not.
I've had some progression with the loyalty bar both with Wolf and falcon, i'd rather wanted some merc LP.

Have not checked my earnings, tho. Figured probation was disabled for the event.
Had not switched during the davion kurita event (because probation and the event was already half way over before i noticed).
Last time i switched loyalist to diamond shark, i had an indicator or countdown thing on the FP map screen (top left corner below the faction emblem).

Thanks for starting this justcallme A S H.

The only reason I mentioned that we'd be taking input after the FP podcast is because there are quite a few restraints that we have to work under. Saying "turn MWO:FP into WOW in 'Mechs" isn't going to happen. However, there are still things we can do and ideas that you guys come up with that we can investigate.

Here's my personal thoughts as to what we can do with what is currently in FP:
- A while ago, we removed all the penalties for switching factions. Personally I think this is a good thing. My main thought on this is to move forward with this notion where ANYONE wanting to play Faction Play can choose their path of participation on a per match level.
- Adding lore and decisions to your participation in any given conflict. For example, if the conflict is between Clan and IS, when I select a planet that is in contention, I will choose at that point whether I want to play as Clan or IS. If the conflict is between IS and IS, I can choose the faction I want to back. Even as a Kurita Loyalist, I can choose to fight in a conflict between Steiner and Merik and not have to be penalized for doing so. I also want a story or story arch to tell me WHY I'm going to be fighting.
- I'd like to see the MM put everyone into a singular bucket and fill teams according to group size first, followed by solo players filling the gaps.
- We will be investigating large scale events like Tukayyid for smaller conflicts which pull everyone into the fight. An example of this, would be something like a 3 day event over Planet XYZ with rewards and notoriety at stake.
- I'd like your thoughts on unit coffer use in general. I'm not sure if we will be able to create something like a unit inventory where you buy 'Mechs that unit members can 'borrow' 'Mechs from, but what are some other possibilities of c-bill use in general?

This is just off the top of my head at the moment but should give you an idea of what I'm working with.

When it comes to new maps/modes, this is a resource issue we have to deal with here and would have to be something monumental in reception before it would gain traction.

I'll continue to monitor this thread as we prep the FP podcast and will pop in to address suggestions about what can and cannot be done.

Thanks again for the thread.

-Paul

I think probation is gone.

Probation is not gone. If you are a loyalist, you can break loyalty, take a merc contract with anyone, and go back loyalist, and never have to do probation matches, when you return to your original loyalist faction (the same one you left) you'll not have to redo the probation. If you go from loyalist with one faction to loyalist with another, you will have to do 10 probationary matches with your new faction, and 10 more if you ever go back to your old faction.

So that's the loophole. Should have known that loyalists are at the rear end yet again. Thanks.
