Tried doing a 5 man carry group just now... we got an attack on emerald taiga. Our damage scores were 3500, 2900, 2900, 2500, and like 1800... Each of us with like 6+ kills, one had 10. We still lost, had 6 pugs doing sub 500 damage, one did 120 damage. Absolutely pathetic. I'd rather not play than deal with trash like that on my team, because it's extremely frustrating to be better than your opponents, and to still lose because you have pure garbage who should stick to quick play weighing you down.

SO the alternative is wait for more players... then we just stomp people which is boring. There's no middleground, and it's starting to get frustrating.

The key is to stop worrying about win loss record. You create different mission objectives and attempt to achieve those instead. Sneak Onions around and ambush a 12 man, win a couple waves. Drop large pulse, med pulse novacats and eat assassin legs, keep track of how many you get. Bring Atlas' on polar, get into brawl range without a single missile hitting you. That's how I play FP now, for fun. I still want to win, but amusement has become more important than record. If changes are made and teams come back, I'll just adjust back to caring more about wins for the challenge but honestly at this point I drop less than 5 matches a week in a group bigger than 3. I find small group drops far more challenging and fun. Minor calls to my solo team mates and just concentrate on trying different things to stop a 12 mans plan.

That game was really close. And cmon, given the composition of the teams we should have won if all our pugs did 0. Our organization was really lacking that drop, it happens

Don't play with pugt*ards.

Let them go eat paste with the windowlickers.

They want to play CW casually, for fun, for Event, or for the LP crap, let them. Fill up without them. Let them go play QP w/ respawn, let them peek a boo. Let them do what they do best, get rolfstomped. They want to sit at or behind the DZ and complain about getting farmed, let them.

Make a 10-12 man and help them get what they want, a painful lesson in advantages of Teamwork in the Teamwork Queue.

Need some extra pilots to fill? Look us up....

^that.
thing is: sometimes a lot of the usual crew is not online, already are in a drop or whatever. and you try your luck in the fw-que on your own, thinking "how bad can it be..? - can't be as bad as QP".. Posted Image

Unless they are seriously mentally or physically handicapped, I cannot understand how that's even possible. Like, a brain-dead chimpanzee could score higher than that by flailing madly at the keyboard.

yup, but I'm serious. sad, but true. maybe new players who haven't even done the academy or so, as there is no real barrier to keep them from going into fw immediately.
but overall, the "solo-respawn-que" has gotten worse over the last few months. as every other que in here, too. don't know who's to blame, but it's just that way. months ago, you could drop solo with other fw-solos and still have some "okayish" games. ofc everybody hid and sniped, nobody would push forward but only s-keys, but still.. was kinda less worse than QP.
nowadays though..
hope it'll sort itself out someway. ;)

There will be no middleground. All FP players are either veteran seal-clubbers or "I just joined a faction, let's rock" dudes. There is no place to learn how to FP unless you have joined some group or unit of seal-clubbers from the beginning.

FP has self-sustaining newbie-unfriendliness. It will keep being like that without any major change to the mode/matchmaking and any major change is blocked by veteran seal-clubbers: "that will kill the mode for me". It is a dead end.

The only thing that can revitalize the mode is a major revamp by competent people, who know what they are doing, why and how. After the implementation of Solaris I have no hope that there is someone like that.

I have stopped worrying about the pugs and like CCrider says just focus on doing something fun or different, we're clan at the moment and loving orion IIC pushes instead of the range meta, if my guys get more cbills together we might try something else mad like flamer SRM builds on stormcrows or something, on polar. I try my best to tell the pugs what to bring, explain our plans and why they will work if we all pull together and if they choose not to play along fine, me and my guys are still going to have fun because we stopped caring about damage numbers a long time ago.

If the pugs listen and learn something then they won't be quite as terrible next time so everyone wins, if they dont listen and we lose i dont care because i already wrote them off in my head. Plan for the worst, get pleasantly surprised when it doesnt happen.

cc is a great guy and always positive and will try to tell you that winning doesn't matter. He's a filthy masochist who pugs in FW.

If you're like me and winning is important, my best suggestion is to try to make semi-viable strats that are as close to regular QP behavior as possible. Also, draw inspiration from proper Roman discipline. You try to call for the pugs but they don't pay attention. When the first guy gets absolutely wrecked you point him out by name to the others. 'See what a jackwagon 733tD00D is? He's dead already and is going to be worthless this match. Bet he doesn't get 500 damage. We'd be better off with a disconnect. Stick with us and you'll all get 1K, easy. Let him go be the idiot sacrifice.' Principle of decimation - make a brutal humiliating sacrifice of one as a lesson to the others.

QP pugs are incredibly cowardly. However fear of humiliation is worse for most people than fear of failure. I realize I'm going to catch some flack for this opinion and it's not what I would call an ethically strong argument but the reality is that this game is a team game. It's 12 v 12. Everyone who clicks drop is making a social contract to participate as a team member. When people abandon that and choose to sandbag their team by going SOLO YOLO that social contract is broken and your 'obligation' to politely treat them as a friendly player in a game is pretty much gone. They've already decided to make the game less fun for everyone else, best thing you can do is try and salvage things for the other 11, even if 5 of that 11 are still not that willing to be worthwhile.

Point out the first bad puggle as an idiot and a failure and that the others don't want to end up like him. Point out that if they stay with you guys they'll get more damage and do better. When you're saddled with some abject cowards, pragmatic brutalization has a long history of short-term success.

wanna hear the worst thing about me? If I drop in a group and we crush the opposition too hard, I'll quit the group, switch sides and try to match up against them cause I know it'll be a good hard fight.

I can't change. I don't think anyone enjoys FP more than me and I now PUG more often than I group up. It's a sickness but it allows me to bump anime fight songs and do some truly stupid things, some of which are viable strategies for rolling up kills and keeping matches competitive. But yeah, I can't argue the masochist description; I think my brain was broken when FP 4.1 rolled out.

I know, right? I'm not kidding - you have to effing look for cc when you're pushing. You'll find an Orion stuffed up in a corner like Riddick with a knife clinched in its teeth.
