Yesterday, I Got Bored, And Photoshopped Nightstar Width...

I did it on top view, front view, and side view.
The transformation was quite incredible. Not only is the Nightstar no longer a mentally handicap cousin of King Crab, but it's got a real edge to it. The profile is skinnier, so it doesn't look like a mech in perpetual squat position.
Now, obviously, some art would need to be reworked. With a 20% reduction in width, you need to rework the hop to make the legs wider apart. Also, I would adjust the angle of upper torso so that the Nightstar looks more like it's looking up instead of like currently, where it's looking at the ground as if perpetual depression.
All in all, I am starting a petition to make the following easy changes to make the Nightstar not only cooler, but what everyone imagined it would be prior to release.

He did, but not in any technically skillful way.
He may as well have said he opened MS Paint and reduced the width by 30% of the ENTIRE SCREEN CAP.
Not too dissimilar to this, except I did it with the model itself and put it side by side with the original.

The Marauder's weapons are tightly packaged on the X-axis, so it can corner peak. The Nightstar can neither corner peak nor ridge-hump very well; the arms are too wide and there's too much crap above the cockpit. It really doesn't play anything like a Marauder.
Its best use case is any one where you go full-expose, so the geo won't matter.

I was strictly talking the geo, not weapons placement

Eh, I consider them one and the same. The geo dictates where you can put the weapons, the latter of which are themselves also geometry.
It's like, the concept of high-mounts to most seems to mean weapons that are cockpit-level. Well, that's not always a high mount, because if the cockpit isn't at the highest point then having weapons there doesn't do you much good, either. Case in point, the Fafnir, which seems a better corner boogeyman than it is a ridge-humper because the geometry places the cockpit kind of low.

compromise - is like a meld of a marauder and a KC, which it's 'supposedly a derivative of

They ruined the geometry, that's one big reason why it could not live up to the expectation. It should have been a sleek, elongated Mech with minimal frontal profile, but we got a short, stubby Mech with Mickey Mouse-ears resulting in a huge frontal profile. PGI (deliberately?) neutered the Mech's potential. Compare it to how they treated the MCII's geometry, and weep.
Imo that's closer to how it should have been (plus shortening the arms); it would be more accurate to the canon model, and it would be a lot stronger in MWO...
