I think you need to go and watch Paul's MM video and/or think about the current state of the game.

"R" is literally never going to occur (4,000 options). You'd need 10,000+ people playing at the same time for them to be realised, more actually, and that's never happened in the history of MWO.


Limiting people to 2man groups, minimum, will cause more harm than good. Limiting them, just for MERC only - is simple a choice. I get why it is being done, to create a sense of MERC unit / group mentality, just that it will not work with the current state of - everything. Nothing to do with math/MM.

This could seriously drive me away from the game for sure. I am sure I am not alone. I've been here 5+ years, spent hundreds on the game, and play regularly. In a game that is losing players, to plan to restrict access to a game mode that needs revamping because its barely played anyway, is just crazy. I get what they are going for too Ash, but the "lets make this "feel" like BattleTech" ship sailed YEARS ago. Lets just focus on keeping this mode of play and the GAME alive still.

Yeah, and people expect PGI to fix FW. Why not simply give dropships lurms? That is hard to mess up at least.

Hey folks,

Will be back next week to get back into the discussion.

For an update:

Backend/DB engineer has completed his audit of all systems that are going to have to be completely yanked and re-written for the FP Update. There's a lot there since the majority of the update revolves around player participation and the match maker. I've also requested that we look into any other possible smaller reworks base on community feedback. That is also in the works.

The Frontend/UI engineer has audited screen changes from the current system to the new systems and is now actively prototyping screens that will allow us to bring the loyalty player progression and match making updates a reality. There are a few screens that are getting completely obliterated and a few new screens added. The FE flow will be updated to take into account all of these new additions. More quality of life updates are being investigated as well as long as they're part of these major screen updates.

One thing Paul - Drop Decks.

Appears there are 32 of them now (total purchasable). That wasn't in the patch notes for Jan.

Can you confirm it is indeed intended / gonna stay? Would hate for people to drop some MC on drop decks if they gonna disappear as that is quite unexpected.

Was there anything else snuck in? Posted Image

32????? That takes all the fun out of having 60 seconds to change your deck.....lol. Wow, you could have decks for everything.

I finally put a dropdeck back together, do pug groups still get matched up against 12 man premades (or mostly premades)?

Of course they do.

Faction Play is a group oriented mode. Has been from Day 1 and the Warning Screen you clicked on says that.

If you drop solo you run the risk of facing a group on the other side. That will never change.

I have been here from the beginning, so I am well aware of this.

The only reason I asked is because I was away a while and have not done any FP for an even longer time and things change with every patch, so I was just wondering if they have changed the matchmaker or not.

Or give them their actual lore loadouts and then see how quickly spawn camping stops.

And see how fast some people get advantage of this to lurm from their base.

Stop complaining about spawn camping, it happen in 2 cases :

-when you get steamrolled (and it's an act of mercy to try to finish the match fast)
-when you and your team are afraid to get out of spawn (so it's only karma :) )

Or ok you want drops hip lore loadouts? = so limited time in your own spawn zone or death.

So it seems like the drop deck increase is legit?
Haven't seen anything to say it shouldn't be there?

I think there should be a Solo FW bucket. Similar to Solo Quick Play.

Here is where the new people can hone their skills in FW without the seal clubbers taking advantage of them. It's pretty simple and resolves all of the mentioned problems.

Solo Quick Play is the only mode that still exists in any meaningful capacity. Why not see if it works for FW too?

And as a reply to Ash's it has been this way since day 1 and will never change. It's dead now, maybe change was needed in order to keep it alive.

Paul, I hope you read this and see the wisdom. Solo Quick Play for FW, FTW!!
