Can we please get a PSR reset, to help with the quality of quick play matches?

While I understand the motivation behind this request, I fail to see this having any actual effect on gameplay..

The game has less than 700 people playing it at any given time, right?

So even if the PSR tiers were re-balanced, the Match Maker still has too few people to adequately match people..

So you're still gonna get T1 vs T3-T4 people.. or worse..

So what's the point? And since QP is the only mode that even has a matchmaker based on PSR... I truly see no point.. except perhaps making the epeen padders a little happier..

You don't think something wrong with game? You like it this way?

-I think average match time is 5-6 mins?
- 2-5 assaults/heavies turn around and chase lights?
- Assaults go capping while average match time is 5-6mins
- 1-2 mechs die in first 0-2 mins. best i have seen is first 35 secs, second 60 secs (i think someone has even better records)
- ATMs can instacore you or instakill you
- Many matches last 1-3 mechs alive with 90%-100% health and can't aim at anything
-ETC....

AND ITS BECAUSE SKILL. Lowskill players cant read the game or understand whats going on or what to do. Shouldn't be on tier 1. They should be on easier matches and try to improve skills. And maybe have more fun there. You cant improve your skills on stomp matches. You need tough matches to evolve.

And that's why people ragequit or stop playing, because of this sh1t.

Quickest I saw a mech die was an light getting dropped with with in the first 20 seconds of the match. The quickest match I was ever in lasted all of 2 minutes, while sitting in que for 5 minutes. 6 Team mates died with in the first 45 seconds of the match starting, when I went down I end up deal over 250 points of damage the rest of the team didn't even break 100.

I find it funny that this thread abd the "bad streak" are the top two right now.

Everyone has a streak of bad games/bad luck. The issue is some people, rather than take personal responsibility for their outcome, come to the forum to whine and blame everything/everyone else. It's just a damn game. The sun will still rise tomorrow even if your team gets rolled and you go on a losing streak. Get over yourself already.

Quick response: zero sum psr after reset would be an idea.

Because that's what you have to do to ensure that the number of people in each tier remains a fixed percentage of the total population. It keeps the match-making consistent regardless of whether or not the entire population gets better or worse.

I wish PGI would consult Sean Lang about balance and skill gap. He's a good player. Not best but real Tier 1 material. Even he couldn't be that blind understanding whats going on in game. He's only good player that PGI got.

I just started playing again from a long hiatus. Nothing in terms of ROFL stomps is different/worse now than in past years as far as I can tell.

The things that piss me off about this game are the constant nerfing of mechs and weapons (especially mobility nerfs), the skill tree fiasco, and lately the damn ST loss heat penalty. The "potato tornado" does not really bother me. I probably benefit from good teammates just as much, if not more, than I am penalized by bad teammates.

Yes stomps are always there, because snowballing. But gameplay has gotten worse. And it keeps getting worse if we don't do anything to PSR. Or do you think that doing nothing like PGI has been doing gonna fix match quality?

Full overhaul+matchmaker tweeks( adjust timer for longer search times) would be best things to get match quality go up. Sure longer wait times, but i think most would agree they would wait longer to get better matches? But that have been discussed in so many topics. And it didn't happen. Now we can only hope for PSR reset.

They nerf everything that best players use to kill lowskill/casual/mechdads(which are usually same things). And buffed LRM/ATM way too much that lowskill/casual/mechdads can kill stuff in Tier 1 matches(they sure cant with directfireweapons).

This will be my last post about explaining things about skills.

Let me put it hockey/sport terms if PGI would understand it better.

They don't put new or old bad teams against Vancouver Canucks. There is reason behind that way there is premier league like NHL and sub divisions under it. Nobody wanna watch that and bad teams don't wanna play against top team and vice versa. There is reason why they rate skills like that. It so much fun for everyone to play opponents within same skill levels. And people wanna watch guys with best skills play on TV. And people in divisions can hone their skills to be in NHL/Premier league some day.

And in MRBC/comp scene in MWO has division. They don't put HHOD against Empyreal for reason.

Hey, maybe use the Leaderboard and have a "PSR" for each weight class. Wouldn't it be crazy to acknowledge people may be better at one weight class than another.

The information is right there. Why not use it?

I had so many lousy matches today, I for one am up with a PSR reset. **** it, I will take it even if they do not do a change to the way it currently works.

It takes so long for bad players to fill the exp bar, this might well solve the problem for another 2 years or so. And by then, chances are that MWO is dead anyway.

***EDIT: I added a poll on the features page:

I don't think we need a PSR reset, but I do think Tier 1 should be switched over to a zero-sum rank system split up by weight class.

Problem is that they do not have the resources to do that. It takes PGI weeks to change values in an Excel sheet. I do not see them ever having the resources to work on this.

Depends on the time of day currently and also the fact we do not have actual #s showing in solo queue, which is the only place tier sorting happens so we don't get to see the total # waiting to be sorted or already in a match. Steam charts only track steam client users... and its showing a 30 day peak (likely the 27th) of 1,883 with 1,382 playing 10 min ago and a 1,426
24-hour peak. The last 30 day peak that was higher was back in May. The Summer solstice loot bag event in june only peaked at 1,793. During the 1-day 1 match December double-hero last year we had a steam client peak of 2,489. 2 weeks ago, at 3pm on Sunday the 16th there were 994 steam users in the game. The forum stats show 665 users online in the past 30 minutes, but that's just users looking at the forums.

And how many of these are "Smurf" accounts?
I keep seeing doom and gloom.
He'll even I have declared some.
But I keep getting qp matches no problem. (Even gp matches!)
Those OTHER matches. Not so much.

For what it's worth, I've been playing the solo queue this weekend and haven't really seen the same names come up in subsequent matches. When I play late at night, I usually play the same people several matches in a row.
