Then people who simply don't like the play-style required for lighter 'Mechs are not going to play because the wait times will be too long.

Good. It wasn't available to them.
Disincentives.

Get back on topic.
Lights need to be addressed.
Not with welfare points but Role Warfare TM that is grossly misrepresented.

And you sir find yourself in the same posting points position.
Denigrating the OP, "newbs" and myself. Trying to raise your own peen at the expense of others. Rather than focusing on solutions and advice.
100% troll.
Good day sir!

I'm not interested in holding locks for pro LRMs and standing in squares, thanks. This is a combat game; no combat, no fun, no play.

If the field was populated by mostly lights and meds. You could fight the other lights and meds.
Some people like "other" jobs. Thank you

So a newbie should get what? A Dire Wolf?
Please.
Elitist.
Lights are the de facto starting mech.

I've been variously told that newbies should not pilot lights or mediums because they are too high-skill and that newbies should not pilot heavies or assaults because they wont do enough damage to warrant the tonnage. It's the greatest argument. XD

So do them. It is not low pay stopping me from doing it, it is the fact that it's boring to hold TAGs on a target and watch all the skill come raining down on it.

So, this is actually going back to one of the main questions of my OP. I'm not asking "what should lights be doing?" Lights can keep doing what they're doing now. I'm asking "what can be done to reward lights more fairly for what they are currently doing?"

Hammer's making suggestions with respect to stuff that currently has no reward at all, like being the rabbit etc., but which light mechs do and help the team dramatically by doing. I'm not sure what the best solution is, but the numbers show that light mech pilots constitute a disproportionately small percentage of the 300 and 400 match score games. That number isn't impacted by me or anyone else being a newbie--we're talking about the pros here. Pro lights don't get pro rewards. It does hit all light mech pilots, but if you understand what those numbers mean you'll see this has nothing to do with newbies.

I don't feel I'm being under-compensated when I play Lights, but I play combat roles. I typically do lots of damage and get lots of kills, assists, and component destructions. Early game scouting bonuses, too. I make as much as I would make doing similarly in other 'Mechs.

If you want to give more reward for spotting, capping, TAG, NARC, etc., that's fine. But Hammer is not just suggesting that. What Hammer wants are Lights and Mediums good enough to fight each other with Heavies and Assaults being better and locked behind a paywall that requires you to be really good to pay for them and play them regularly.

Actually, I get about 500-600k cbills per QP drop in a light.

And I get between 350k and 550k in mine, which is in line with other, heavier 'Mechs that I am consistent with.

I'm not really seeing much of a problem.

That's the sort of stuff I'm suggesting yes. Stuff done primarily by lights, preferably higher risk stuff like spotting and tagging, but don't get rewarded for. And if we could eventually get rewarded for more complex stuff like rabbiting that would be sweet, but baby steps. XD

You're a great light mech pilot, one of the best, but if you look at the same rank in any other weight class you're gonna see that you are earning way less than the other weights at the same rank as you.

The whole economy thing wouldn't even work in the long run because:

1. There are lots of ways to pay real money to get more in-game money, so you could literally pay your way to the top immediately without even needing to be really good.

2. It's a playerbase of mostly established veterans, so eventually a large chunk of us would reach that top point anyways.
