Mechwarrior 5 Mercenaries Community Pre-Order

For those that didn't follow it, FO76 offered preorder folks ONLY access to the beta which occurred in "early" October with a release on November 14th. It was active for approximately 3 weeks before the full release where they fixed almost no bugs. It was nothing more than a stress test for the servers. It was not a beta. This is exactly what this beta looks like to me.
Everyone(industry) should have learned their lessons watching what happened to FO76. The days of preorder-to-access betas are over.

For me it would be perfect if I could buy the standard MW5 pre-order and upgrade the MAD II standard pre-order with a reinforcement pack add-on once the MAD II pre-order page went live.
It should work that way.

Thanks for your response.
Do you mean the AI for MW5 is being worked on by Unreal devs, or do you mean that the Unreal devs are working on improving the embedded AI routines in the Unreal engine?

Yes, I think what PGI are describing as a "Beta" should be considered more like "early access".
I guess calling it a 'Beta' is warranted in that it will have bugs and incomplete features (in fact, I predict the launch will likely be pushed back). The advantage for PGI of this early cash inflow is that it will alleviate the financial pressure on them to produce a fully-working and fully-featured game from the outset.
I base the above on my continued funding of MWO for five years, and observation of what PGI leadership say (and what they do).

PS. I'm still considering a basic level pre-order.

i pretty fondly remember the mechwarrior online close beta, it was pretty fun at least since it was before mechs got too fast and weapons got too deadly

Just invested in your MW5 product. Loved what you did with MWO. I'm hoping that it might buy me a small bit of airtime and request that the moderators pass this onto the dev team and marketing teams for consideration:
1. Can you enable/build/fix the destroyed leg animation in MWO?
2. Can you consider giving Ultimate package holders something physical such as a jacket/t-shirt or perhaps even a small scale model of an atlas or something similar?
Thanks,
/3

Because the search option doesn't work I can't find the exact post, but from memory someone said that AI would be worked on by devs and receive support because the licensing fee. (This is most likely wrong because it's a rumor)

Fact is I'm more looking for an enhanced MWO with better visuals and physics. I know it's not MWO ported to Unreal engine but I guess you know what I mean, I hope at one point that MW5 will let us play 8vs8 solo or in group or whatever.
I saw Matt answers a few questions after my post but not mine so I'll take it that they cannot confirm about PvP so I will pass. I don't think I need to play this on day 1 and maybe I'll be good to buy later on when on sale if ever PvP is confirmed.

Not trying to sway you one way or the other, just wanted to add my 2c.
I think it is very unlikely that PGI will want to support two games on two different engines if they can help it. They are a comparably small studio (nothing wrong with that) and probably would like to save manhours wherever possible. Porting MWO onto Unreal when you have to do that for at least a lot of your assets you want to use for MW5 anyway seems like a good idea.
MWO's CryEngine is a bit dated by now and changing the game onto a new and current platform probably would help getting people that like MW5 to give MWO a shot as well.

Looks at my Clan Wave 1 pack looks at MW5 Ultimate pack...
It was politely pointed out that MW5M ultimate also gave the $70 Marauder II Ultimate Edition Pre-order.
I still see Xsolla exchange rates as steep but I would've gotten the Mar2 pack anyways.
https://www.xe.com/c...From=USD&To=CAD
Its in USD because that's the industry standard currency for paying contractors/consultants/coders and more importantly...buying software that's actually used to develop the game, and paying the license fees to Microsoft. The US dollar is the primary currency to international commerce and trade, its the currency used by professional athletes for contracts (NHL players for canadian teams are paid in USD even if they themselves list Canada as their primary residences, pay taxes to the canadian government in CAD dollars and so forth).

Why is this sooo complicated for people to understand ?!?
MW5 is a seperate game from the same developer as MWO. Thus you need to create a new account for the new game on the new game's website... and if you complete a transaction to gain early-access to the new game, they'll both display a link on that website as well as email the address you used to create that account a redeem code for bonus content you can unlock on an MWO account. The code can be then be used by any account. If I create an MW5 account using the same email address as I use for this account, buy the game and get the redeem code... I can then use it on this account here, or I could just as easily redeem it to my alt account which uses a completely different email address, or I could even give the redeem code away to someone else to use for their account.
As to what the MWO bonus content includes... that is explained on the MW5 website... the only mech pack being included as a bonus is clearly listed as being the Marauder II pack...thus...
Purchased Content
You own the "Ultimate Community Edition"
Purchase date: Thu, Jan 10, 2019 4:14 AM UTC
MWO Content
Redeem the code provided below on the MechWarrior Online redeem page.
(Note: you will need to create a MechWarrior Online account if you do not already have one to utilize this content.)
MWO Bundle Code [Click to Reveal]
I revealed my code, went to the redeem section of my profile on the account I wished to apply the code to and voila... bonus content linked to an MWO account. The Cbills, XP, premium time and 30k MC arrived instantly after I redeemed the code. The other content I presume will be injected later as it becomes available. The discord code is instant also (assuming you're a discord user).

After 17 years waiting, MW5:Mercs HAVE to have something physical stuff to bring for all the Battletech/Mechwarrior fans out there...
Well...the digital artwork can easily be printed onto an iron-on t-shirt transfer and presto you can be the first one on your block with a MW5 T-shirt or hoodie easily enough...

It would be great if I could buy another edition as a Gift for one of my unit members who wins an upcoming competition, but there is no option to "gift" an edition. Perhaps PGI could look into that possibility?

You could create a new email address just for MW5 game, create the MW5 account, buy it the early access and then give the winner the password to the email address and the MW5 account and they can just change the passwords themselves after. No different than folks who sell existing game accounts for other games they've stopped playing.

The fact that Xsolla is charging $171 CAD when the base exchange rate would cost $156 CAD is pretty nuts though. Xsolla definitely charges a premium for currency exchange.
