Only PGI would add special geometry that makes the mechs harder to see out of and easier for the enemy to hit and call it "content".
Can we please have a toggle button to turn them into norm geo if we so choose.

I don't have one I can pull out as I don't normally look at match score to judge if I did well, but this one to my surprise has a match score of 590.
Now remember, word all over a certain other forum is I'm a terrible player with no skill and my Jarl's list declares I'm a "low class bottom rung in the brown sea."
So I'm sure you could do it given the right circumstances and LRMs.
If it helps with being a little more specific on what was done? I dunno. I didn't realize it got such a high score until I went looking at recent ones to see what my highest screen capped one was of recent date.

So uh... yeah, I guess?
But that said, I've got none where I got it recently in anything OTHER than an LRM-boat.

Everything else is done, except a few of the MW challenges, they're all at 95 to 99% done. Need 1 kill assist in a light, a solo kill in a light, a victory in a light and one in an assault, and a 500 match score (so take the Archer out for a spin).

Yes, I hadn't played any of my locusts in ages (I had to redeem the HSP to set the skill nodes on my Phoenix Locust before doing the event) and was a bit worried about the Kills/KMDD requirement.
After theorycrafting a HMG version and a SNPPC version (both did fine in the testing grounds, but once hot the SNPPC didn't cool down quickly enough and the HMG version needed a bit more ammo) I settled on a simple MPL/4MG build and did the Locust challenge in two matches.
I also had fun and it was a different style of gameplay to what I usually do (bigger mechs between 75 and 95kph) so I think I might return to a few of my 139kph and faster mechs like the Huginn, Oxide, Javelin, and Osiris to have some fun when I feel like something different.

Moving on to Hunchbacks. I haven't used them in a while, I admit. Though I see they improved the weapon appearances and changed the triple ballistic hardpoints of the Hunchback 4G from a boring vertical arrangement to a Predator's triangle arrangement.
My triple AC/2 Hunchback looks a LOT better now.
My Founder before LBX-10 + twin MG.
And now (note I tried to match the old colors, but I have so many greys, blues and whites that I don't know which it was. Also the decals are from playing it sometime last year and trying to spruce up the Buc pattern; just didn't bother to take 'em back off for this shot)
Left: LBX-10 and twin MGs founder with default pattern. Right: Triple AC/2 regular 4G with Buc pattern.
Not a fan of how it removes the pattern for where it is customized, but leaving out the other ballistic hardpoints leaves the full paint intact.

This time, like most others, had good rewards, but I found the challenges way too steep. Got pretty stuck with the light solo kill and the 500 match score.
Went close to 500 only like 3 times, 470, 485, 493, but not 500. Nooooo!!! Almost !!! It was really demoralizing since in a lot of matches, you barely see anyone in BOTH teams getting more than 300 as a match score.
Sometimes you see 2, 3 or more people getting over the 500 score but that is not very common.
Oh well, then the miracle happened, got 511 with 2 kills, a solo kill and 5 kills most damage dealt.
I am not a skilled player and anything good I may bring to matches is because of hard earned experience.
You may see people around here, few in comparison with the rest of the community saying: "oh, the event was again, too easy, done with it in a few of hours..." Well, easy for them since they are highly skilled players, not everyone around is as good as them...
So, by making an event this hard, the rest of the MWO population gets alienated. I understand if the challenges are way too easy some people will complain, the question is: what's the skill of most of the population in the game?
It's great when events serve as a teaching lesson to everyone, but with achievable and fun goals that require just some attention for those to be completed. It has been done in the past, it can happen again. Usually, I've seen events are good and bring more fun to MWO.
But this time... I can't even think what the event was for the new player or the somehow under-skilled one. Just unachievable.
I just finished the challenges, I didn't think i could. Was left with a sour taste you don't normally get when playing for one.
Glad is over for me, now I can just play freely again. (I got burned out, so I'm taking a deserved break)

Currently I don't have any of the general challenges completed (I've only played a few matches in my Phoenix mechs because I've been away until yesterday) but I think most of the challenges seem reasonable.
The solo kills challenge is for MC so I don't think it should be easy and while the light solo kill is harder, the enemy does also have light mechs - go after one of them in your light mech to get your solo kill. In fact that's the only solo kill I've got so far (in my Locust). The rest of the solo kills can be done by picking on mechs lighter than you.
The assists challenge is pretty easy; that should be grindable by anyone even on trial mechs.
The victories one is harder because you're looking at on average 24 matches (considering a 50% winning percentage) and possibly more if you're piloting mechs you're uncomfortable in. But it's for MC as well so shouldn't be easy, and you can just play the game any way you want so long as you just switch to the next weight class once you've gotten your 3 wins. I likely won't even try for this unless I get on a winning streak while completing the other challenges because I have to work tomorrow.
The ballistic, energy, and missile damage challenge is fine in my mind and helps players vary their loadouts to try new things. It's a good challenge with a decent reward.
The match score challenge is one where I agree with you; I think it should have been split into two challenges where the 5,000 total match score and other minimum match scores were a challenge and the 500 match score game was its own challenge. I don't need the MC so if I complete the solo kills challenge, assists challenge, and damage challenge without getting a 500 match score I likely won't try for a 500 match score game so it'll be in their database as an uncompleted challenge. If a significant number of players aren't able to complete the challenge it'll tell them the challenge was too difficult and they can tweak it for next time.

Had a crappy match, took a break, played some Megamek and another mech game, spent a bit designing some civilian improvised artillery vehicles for use in Megamek.... and went back and had another match.
So. Sure a lot of my team survived, but as usual I went off to do my own thing and go get swarmed by the big bads (yes I know I usually get slaughtered, its sort of intentionally screwing myself into really tough, often unwinnable situations).
Pulled through by killing all 3 of the people that went to gang up on me and still being able to mosey on over and try to help the team.

Yes, splitting that challenge into two would have been a better idea. The 500 score requirement was the hardest part and if not completed despite getting the others minimum scores, sorry, no reward.
It would have made most sense to put it completely separated, like the time a head-shot was a challenge, that one, I didn't even try !
Hope they check their database and tweak events accordingly, challenges are mostly doable and motivating. But few (for the best, like this one) have parts that are nearly impossible, you may get a really bad time if you attempt to complete them.
