Anyway, BattleTech has such a rich lore. Use it for the Hero Mechs! There is so much potential...

Be neat if it had some killer range quirks or velocity quirks to make up for the low speeds and assuming low maneuverability.

So what if most variants are slow AF? It's a turret with legs and it's one of my favourites since MW2 *nerdgasming hard right now*

I just really hope that dome is not all CT. They should give it some damage reduction while they're at it.

It's arms are going to have what, 45 armour? And if the art is to go buy, super easy targets. So one alpha from basically any mech in the current META will open the arm and thus crit/explode the Gauss.
Yeah - It's not going to be even close to the best dude.
The 2 variant looks good, it'll have to play the UAC2 long range game however.
I'm optimistic on the Gauss option. The *forward* facing profile of the arms will be rather small, and even if you lose one arm, there's still 3 erML and 1 Gauss left (if the basic build is 4 erML and 2 Gauss). I think it could operate pretty confidently from mid range, with a decent hill-peeking profile (depending on how easy a target the 'hat' will be). I suspect there will be some durability bonuses for the arms, though that will be a factor. I have trouble thinking it will be more vulnerable than a Night Gyr with a roughly similar loadout---and that approach works well, despite the chassis' problems.
Overall, the relative lightness of the clan XL engine promises a mech slightly faster and with more secondary weaponry than the classic dual Gauss Jagermech running a Light Fusion Engine. None of this is my personal style, but it should fill a role very well.
