I wonder how the tube count will be rendered. The LRM10 takes up half of the visual space in the bay. A LRM20 could be split 5/10/5 from top to bottom but how would the 2M per torso variants work? Perhaps a tube count of 20 for the 1M per torso variant and tube counts of 15 and 5 for the 2M per torso versions with the larger launcher taking the higher mount?

I hope they try to give some quirks to stand out. HSL seems like an obvious one. But missile velocity would also be good. Especially if they give it more than 10% Or spread quirks. The mech with the most spread reduction quirks is the Zeus with a single arm mounted missile hard point. But we know PGI doesn't give good quirks to mechs that can boat weapons. So probably some 10% laser quirks.

I don't hate this new Dervish -- far from it in fact. But I think it has something of a Wolverine (or BattleMaster) syndrome going on: it feels generic compared to the fairly bold original design.

Maybe it's that generic look I hate. It's my biggest grip with MWO's unified aesthetic - Everything looks the same, and the more of it there is the more boring it all is.

Probably LRM10 will be the limit, LRM15 and 20 will just be 2 volleys. Would look a lot cleaner. Two LRM10s would just be 5/10/5 in each torso.

I know aesthetics are subjective, but I think the 'sameness' happens even with the original artwork.

I think it may be a symptom of just having so many mechs in one title made by the same group of artists too.

I think the reason I never got into BT at a younger age is because of just how bad that 80s line art is.

PGI really knocked it out of the park with their mech designs.

I just hope it doesn't get the usual ''3D modelling adds 10 tons'' treatment, Still feel like the Quickdraw got hit pretty bad with thta.

Well the Dervish will on all versions will have 10%/20% damage reduction with those missile doors on the side toros while closed. Willing to bet all versions will likely have +armor or structure bonuses, the 6Mr version will likely have the greatest Missile quirks with only 2 missile hardpoints.

I have 253 mechs in my stable at the moment so PGI is going to have to come at me with something either unique or particularly juicy for me to open my wallet, this is neither unfortunately.

I will say that it honestly looks like it might have potential to be a decent mech just from looking at the geometry but with so little variety between the variants and no "gimmick" like tons of high mounts or some such, I don't see the point spending real money on it. Going to wait for C-bills on this one I think.

I'd have to go check manufacturers, but that may be an in-universe aesthetic from designers working for the same or related companies/production facilities.

I've stopped being sucked in to buy mechpacks but the nostalgia factor is strong and it's tempting me.

I’d guess it will be around the same level of structure quirks as the Griffin, like a 3M, maybe a little worse due to additional hardpoints, but not much. If they go with armor, then it will depend on the base agility (see Wolverines and Bushwackers as examples).

IMO it's a rare case where just about anything won't be an automatic improvement over the original BT design -- the Dervish to me is one of the best-looking designs in old BT that isn't taken from anime or one of the very recent Anthony Scroggins re-designs.

You've gotta be kidding me. I think the Dervish was one of the worst, laziest designs ever in classic BT. Its boring aesthetics complement its boring loadouts. I mean look at the thing:

Even the equally generic Trebuchet was picked as a more appealing visual and gameplay design in MWO's early days.

Anyway, I think Alex improved the Dervish's looks quite a bit. Especially the head.

I guess this could be fun. Not worth 45 dollars to me though.

I'll take the mid-90s Trebuchet and Dervish over Alex's work any day of the week.

EDIT: Kind of weird how that configuration of the Trebuchets missile arm never seems to have taken off, though. I really like it.

Great, ANOTHER IS 55 tonner. No ecm, no masc. How will this mech be better than an ecm griffin srm bomber, or a mascing wolverine or a triple ac2 shadow hawk or a rac toting bushwacker? Hitboxes could redeem it. But so many other mechs can do it better.

I tend to preorder early and often. But this one's a hard and immediate "no" for me.

First, it looks boring. I'm a laser guy and none of these variants do anything special for me. I would much rather take out a Hunchback.

Also what's with the 8D variant having 40% more armor? Just for lulz?
