Hmm... a couple of interesting postings to discuss... I'll pitch them my thoughts...

Do the same as Decals in Caches, Duplicates sell for 50K C-bills.
Frankly, I personally think Duplicate Decals should give 15 (
maybe 20)

(
MC) Each in their place, enabling one to acquire another Decal at least once every 12 (
only 9 with the '20' Value, which wouldn't feel so annoying) Duplicates. That is, unless you want something a tad more Premium, in which case you're looking at more on the order of once every 34 (
only 25 with the '20' Value, which might be a better offset) Duplicates. The same would go for Colors in my opinion, except at a minor rate of 15 (
maybe 20, perhaps?)

(
MC) Each, allowing a single new Color to be purchased for every ~17 (
only ~13 with the '20' Value) Duplicates, unless trying to build up for something really big that would need up to ~67 (
only up to 50 with the '20' Value, which may be more realistic) Duplicates received. It would still take a fairly long while to get a New Decal from that process, and far longer to get a New Color either. But, it would help alleviate some of the pain that I'm certain by now other people are caused to feel by those who can Camo their Mechs in certain off-the-wall manners.
Just for the note, only having Duplicate Decals dump back with such a tiny amount of 50K

(
C-Bills) is barely enough to get a couple of Small Laser or such. It feels like a turn off (
or a slap to the face... or perhaps someone laughing at your expense...) when you're getting a Decal which you already have, and then not getting something tiny in exchange that could build up to an Alternate Pick from the rather long list of Decals over time. Yes, I know PGI's Staff has to be able to make enough Real $$$ to keep the lights on and MWO Development running (
plus keep their lives forever away from the proverbial gutter), but trying to hold things back too hard from the Player Base equally only results ultimately in very little ROI (
Return-On-Investment) to their Bank Accounts. People generally won't pitch in their Real $$$ to a game if they feel shorted, so it takes some goodwill to get people to put the money in and pump the game up.

Some people would complain about the weight if given a bar of gold.
I don't think they would complain much about that. That happens to be Free Money in their hands, after all.
No, what I think they would really complain about is how that Gold Bar seems to lack the Value to go as far as it should be able to in purchasing things. Even back in the Medieval Ages, a big chunk of Pure Gold (
say, the size of a big rock) failed to keep a down-to-earth family properly cared for in terms of a reasonable length (
Like, at least a year or two, perhaps?) of time.
