In the map...that damn thing looks to be as scrawny as the Warhammer II...
I be thinkin' we need to see it next to some other mechs, since our mechlab doesn't have an orthogonal (orthographic) view anymore (and it'd be really nice to have one that we can toggle on and off.)
Orthogonal (Orthographic) view.
Perspective view

....and make a Zeus look thick a.f.
Or here it is again
with a King Crab
Take note of the laser emitters (and note that PGI has been standardizing the weapon model sizes...)
The larger emitters...actually means if we shrink the image (to get the same distance) to compare to the King Crab, this monstrosity is quite a bit thinner...
Now compare the size of the Corsair emitters to the Zeus...
This thing's gonna be shoooort.
Also note the 4 in the background.
King Crab covers a chunk of it, the not-as-wide-as-PGI-makes-it-look-with-this-HORRIBLE angle... does not.
Now compare the 4 with the Zeus image.
....It is almost as skinny as a Zeus.

Matt, I got a question; why the heck does this one have right arm quirks... when the arm is a stub, unlike any other one that has arm quirks?
Also is the right torso bigger than the left? Cause here, since both sides appear to be equal...why isn't the quirks? (Then again this is the same for all)
Also also...
Love how the "RA" Corsair...has no R(ight) A(rm).
Mad lad.
(For anyone thinking too literally, I mean it doesn't have a full lower/hand arm.)
Like that they also have varying finger counts. Shame the bodies and legs (and weights) couldn't have more variation given the fluff of these monsters...(or the names), but.. I like it.

Am I the only one looking for answers here?
I see the claws as 'spikes' that puncture and grab onto armor, not needing to fully close. It grabs something and holds on with the gun in it sitting right up against something, then you fire while holding onto the thing. Probably pretty useful for breaching starship hulls or something.

PGI what's up? Structure is beyond useless without crit reduction. You really gonna give this thing the Thanatos treatment?

I actually like the looks, hardpoint wise, of the (S). The Hero... yeah its pretty meh, but it might be nice with a LPL + ERML vomit mixed with some dakka 'secondaries' (2 UAC 2s or 5s).

I imagine, givin the Pirate nature of the build, that the Arm weapons were installed AFTER they recovered said arms from the trash heap and that the "fingers" were left in place.
Although I do like the idea of the "Grab and Blast", although the back blast damage would probably wreck the weapon

Gauss, AC/2s, and AC/5s would probably be alright. Definitely would love to see a pirate put in an AC/20 and try it.

Yeah I like that one two, for 2AC10 and 2HPPC/ or 2PPC+4AMS
But... the cash mechs are bad... both the 20$ (S) and 15$(Hero) thinking about a refund
The S can do HGauss plus MPLs and 2 SRM4s or something (or UAC20 MRM10 MRM30 and MPLs), I'm sure i can make something work there. The hero though I'm not sure.

That would make sense if the gun barrels did not exceed the range of the claws. I'm still left wondering about the design.

Uh, you wanna see grab-and-blast in action?
if you take a peek at another thread I posted in, I put the Piranha up against the Ravager Corsair...and let two AI pilots fight a boatload of times.
50 matches with a young Clan pilot that's overly eager... and 50 matches with a Solahma (an older, experienced pilot in his late years).
The Solahma won quite a few matches...
The younger pilot only technically won once...
When the Ravager grappled with the Piranha, picked it up by the head, and got blasted to ****.
If you wanna read about this tabletop (Megamek) fight between AI (computer players), swing over here..posted January 12 2019.

Edit, sorry that one had the brief version.
The full one is here. Quoting it here.

The Ravager went down. The random pilot given to the Ravager, Annabelle, perished. This was the only time out of the 104 tests in which the Corsair pilot was actually killed in action. Due to the Ravager's death during the weapons fire phase, when the melee phase came, a pilot roll had to be done for being dropped from a grapple-hold that left the Piranha airborne. A knee and foot actuator broke and the Piranha was on the ground. Danica was already unconscious due to the MG exploding from a critical jam-and-overheat. The Piranha shut down. It would never be turned on again. Danica died in the fall. The wreckage of this brutal fight will never to be found or salvaged. To many this would be a draw, but for Danica... this is the closest to victory that he or she would ever get.
There are many tales to be told, and I hope to share them soon.
(For the description of Danica as a pilot, it'd make a bit more sense if reading this quote in the spoiler from the first link)
