Easter is all about resurrection so I thought I would resurrect this old conversation.

I would like for PGI to create a Solo Quick Play que with drop decks and FW maps and modes.

It would work exactly like Solo Quick Play except you would have a drop deck. You could use either IS or Clan mechs in your drop deck. There wouldn't need to be side choosing it would be random teams of IS and Clan just like Solo Quick Play. None of the planet taking elements of FW would need to be included.

I think that it would introduce FW elements to new players and may encourage them to spend money on drop decks and mech packs to fill them.

The match maker would work exactly like it does in Solo Quick Play. Map and Mode selection would work just like it does now with only the added choices.

Solo Quick Play with respawns sounds super fun to me.

It could be called Community Warfare, or Drop Deck Quick Play... Throw out some names you would like it to be called.

If there would be drop decks, it couldn't be called "Quick play"

Your post is so thoughtful. How about adding a reason for the No?

We already have Community Warfare. It's called "Faction Play" or FP for short

Because its puts new players at a disadvantage.

Also because its called quickplay.

Play FP if you want dropdecks.

What you're basically suggesting is raw Quickplay, but with dropdecks

That's literally what Faction Play is. I just don't see the point of this thread Posted Image

Prototelis,

What disadvantage do you think new players would have in a solo que that you think they wouldn't have in FW?

ObeytheLion,

What I proposed is very different than FW. It's just quick play with drop decks.

1. Solo Only
2. No Planet Taking
3. No Faction Choosing

The most broken aspect of MWO is not knowing where you are going to fight before selecting your mech. I would love lets say a 'garage dropdeck' I choose a medium then see what map I land on and get to pick 1 of 4 mechs in my garage that is more suited to the map.

Napoleon_Blownapart,

I like that idea too. The best you could do here is maybe setup different drop decks. The map and mode choice happens before the deck selection.

I don't see why that would be a problem. You would know the map and mode then you choose the appropriate drop deck.

Other games already have this. You would need maps that would bring the respawns closer to the battle area for this to work best.

You get my award for name originality.

Uhhh, how about having to afford, build, and grind out multiple mechs to be viable?

It really isn't.

For better or worse, not knowing the map before you pick a mech actually encourages more variety. Try FP and you'll see that mech selection is quite a bit less varied than QP.

Your contention is that new players don't have to buy decks and mechs for FW?

I think you are mistaken.

Oh NOW I SEE
sorry that i caught on so late.

But for me, it doesn't seem like more than FP with an Any 12*4 mech Vs Any 12*4 mech feature.

Huh. Learn something new everyday.
And here I thought it was about stealing the good stuff out of my kids' easter baskets while they aren't looking.

No.

Most matches are decided after two drops, if not earlier. Dropdecks primarily serve to draw out the matches unnecessarily, enable spawn camping, and increase the frustration of both teams (or, worse, draw in those players who enjoy spawn camping).

FP is general so very unpopular that you should not even think about adding elements from it to a gamemode that actually works.

New players typically don't play FP, its spelled out the first time you click the FP button why you shouldn't play FP on new accounts.

Requiring multiple mechs in the most easily accessible mode is a serious barrier for new players.
