o7 warriors.
I am currently using a normal Samsung 60hz monitor with 12GB RAM and 780 GTX card.
I am interesting in getting a 144hz curved monitor.
Would this monitor make a difference for MWO gameplay? Like smoother and clearer display?
Should I change the card too?
Thank you.

I run a 144hz 1920x1080 along with a GTX 1070 and overclocked i5 6600K to 4.6Ghz. My fps is usually 90-130, occasional dips into the 70s with mass lrming. Everything looks far smoother on a 144hz monitor with high fps, so if you're capable to getting 100+ fps in MWO, then you'll benefit from a 144hz monitor.

It won't if your Graphics Card isn't compatible with 144hz, also MWO is CPU Driven so.... honestly I wouldn't waste my money unless you use the Monitor for other things.

IMO, everything above 60 fps, is a BS for "cool" kids, or for a VR.
Do not bother with it. It will not make any difference for the MWO.

Want clear picture? - use all medium settings, with no AA, and textures on High. Your hardware is more than good for this game.

how many fps do you get with your current setup?
is the new monitor in question 1920x1080 or higher resolution?

Similar to me. 8700k @ 4.9GHz & a RTX 2080.

At 1440p with my 165hz im max 140FPS. Average around the 80-120FPS

Unless you have a CPU to crank the game 144hz monitor and GPU is pointless.

MWO is CPU bound, so nothing really.

Noticed no change in FPS at all. Didn't expect one either, needed for other games :)

Currently my FPS is about 50-60.
My CPU is i5-2320 @3GHz.

Let me see if I can overclock it and have better performance.

The 144Hz monitor max resolution is 1920x1080. I've never played on 144hz monitor.

I could be entirely wrong but if you're not getting 100+fps then would 144hz monitor be useful?

Honestly wouldn't worry with that CPU. You might milk a little more but not enough to make use of a 144hz monitor.

Yeah only a bit of increase after I set the overclock. So..... I need to get new CPU if I want to get benefit from 144hz monitor :)
Thank you.

you'd propably also need a new mainboard and ram

regarding overclocking: your cpu is multiplier locked, that means 3.5ghz (not including blck boost) is the max frequency you could squeeze out of that.
i dont think that this would push you over 70 fps therefor would render a 144hz monitor borderline useless with your current setup

You need a bigger CPU for MWO to make use of your 144hz monitor. Most other games need a big GPU to get the most out of em...well thats a general rule.
Another point is the resolution of you new screen. If its higher and you play at a higher resolution you can aspect your framerate to drop even more.

Also a think to consider
Cinema (old) ~24 FPS
Cinema (new) 60 FPS
TV 25/29,97 depending on where you live
Most PC screens 60 FPS

So you are mostly used to lower then 144 framerates anyway. Also depending on your age and eyes you might not see the differance.
I consider my eyes to be pretty slow/bad so I notice differances clearly between 30-60, above that it starts to loose its effect and becomes less noticeable for me.

I would suggest that if you know someone with a 144hz monitor, go and ask him if you could play MWO on his/her PC. Make sure that you archive 100-144 FPS in MWO and see if you notice anything.

144 hz is not going to happen. This game struggles to get stable 60 fps even on top rigs.

On some maps you get a good fps, but on others - no so much. (e.g. solaris city or river city). Also, when you are being shot at, fps will dip under 60, and even more so on ultra settings.

Can easily be achieved, just not with "consumer" grade hardware for constant stable framerates, only map I dip to sub 140fps on is Solaris City and that's going down to 130fps. My CPU is a Xeon W-3175X w/ a 4.4GHz clock across all cores.

I have as I said earlier... 8700k / RTX2080... GPU somewhat irrelevant (as I also pointed out) - either way I have a stable 80FPS on Solaris City. Your 60FPS statement is grossly incorrect when I get 120FPS on many maps as average.

Do NOT run everything at MAX. A lot of settings in MWO, as with many games, overly impact performance for no real benefit.

Just gotta accept that CryEngine sucks and MWO isn't optimised and never will be.
