there isn't one, PGI have decided that the monthly mech isn't viable anymore so we might see the odd one to fill a niche but this is pretty much it atm.

MWO is on Life Support. A lot depends on the success of MW5 probably.

It'll be the "Coming Soon" mech.

Only available for MC.

Buy it now, they'll do the artwork "soon".

No hardpoints, no engine, no armor, no paint, no quirks.*

*You will be able to buy hardpoints, engine bay, armor, paint and quirks at some future date and time. But only for additional MC, that can only be purchased at full price. Discount or On Sale MC cannot be applied.

The Hero mech will be called the NunYa. As in, "when is it coming out?"

"NunYa business".

I bet russ is finally desperate enough for cash that he's had a poor coder locked in the janitor closet working on "those dam clown quad mechs." since he stated that quads would never be added to mwo because they are simply too complex for mwo to handle.

Game is on life support, it should last until mw5 after..... They can try to make mwo2 but that would takes years. Can they keep running run mwo without any income until mwo2?

Doesn't look good to me.

PGI never said that they are canning mech production altogether. They simply said that there will be a slow down of mechs released in MW:O, and that any future mech releases will be more meaningful to the current mechs that we have in game. We don't know if they are going to go back to 4 packs, or 1 mech per few months since they were pretty vague on information and ideas.

I think the IS 'Maintennance' is being worked on hard at the moment. The clan 'Server shutdown' is slated for some point early next year.

I'm having fun playing the 'Enjoy it while it lasts' at the moment.

Which all sounds like some BS made up on the fly to placate the masses.

Guarantee there will never be a new mech for MWO.

It could very well be tbh. By all means I'm not defending their business model. It'll be a shame if they end it on the Dervish since mechs like the Firemoth would have been meaningful additions to the game.

There is a very thin line between slowing down Mech production and shutting it down. PGI usually needs four months from the annoucement of a Mech to its release. A Mech annouced in August would be released in November, a Mech annouced in October would not even make it this year.
And what happens in 2020?

Of course PGI could speed up the production process and shorten the time between annoucement and release, but I don't know if they are capable and willing to do so. Perhaps after finishing MW:5. Perhaps...

Anyway, I'd feel a lot better if they said there will be two/three more Mechs this year eventually. Something needs to be annouced soon.

It is certainly not viable if they keep choosing Mechs nobody wants or needs. Roughneck and Sunspider both sold poorly, why did they think a third PGI original would do any better? Releasing entirely unremarkable units like the Dervish simply because they can be used for MW:5 is a recipe for commercial failure.

The only way to make meaningul money with a new Mech is to chose a Mech people love (Crusader, Wasp etc.), or to chose a Mech that is really good in MWO. Or something really new (IS Omnis).

Releasing mechs which the community can easily forecast as mediocre to trash has certainly been an interesting business strategy.

I mean go back 20 mech releases, to the Thanatos (exclude Solaris pack):

Dervish
Rifle IIC
Marauder II
Corsair
WHAM IIC
Hatamoto/Charger
Vapor Eagle
Champion
Incubus
Vulcan
Hellfire
Flea
Blood Asp
Fafnir
Sun Spider
Black Lanner
Piranha
Hellspawn
Thanatos

I can easily make the argument that there are at best five intelligent decisions in here, as far as mechs PGI should have been able to forecast that the community would want to purchase en masse, and on the flip side mechs with would be largely passed over due to obvious gameplay concerns.

Anyone who puts out a niche product should have a damn good understanding of how well it will sell to its given audience. But as with everything that involves PGI decision making, they seem clueless as to how to run a successful business.

They can't turn the blame on the community for not buying trash mechs. I say them as a person who bought many of them.

Well let's see, from that list the trashiest to mediocre would be as follows;

Incubus
WHIIC
Hellspawn
Hellfire
Corsair
Marauder II

That being said, I like my Corsairs and Marauder II. Other than the Missile god 4HP, the other variants either feel like a worst hit boxed, slower Nightstar, or outright worse because of that RT if you put any weapons in it. Same can be said for the Hellfire and it's LT hardpoints (barf). Throw a TAG or small laser in it and it sticks out 18 feet in front of your mech.

I think we all worry to much
its now obvious they needed to move people over to meet the MW5
deadline

once MW5 gets released new Mechs will come out again
