Naivety: "It doesn’t cost anything to install epic launcher"
It doesn't cost MONEY.
It does cost you something far more valuable - your digital privacy.

As soon as you go online and join anything you basically give up your privacy. It just all depends how paranoid you are I guess.

Epic may be spying a lot, as Origin was (is?) but Iam not even caring about that. I meant the cost of the games, it's still money on the platform.

i for one do not use social media. but if you have to log in to it you are being tracked, and that includes local software (including most games). i like software that you can install and run anonymously.

Not much happend.
Beta is now called Demo with the same content as allready mentioned in another AMA. Its also been pushed back 2-3 weeks because of marketing reasons. They think they can keep the "hype" up until release if they release the demo so early and there where some streamers who said they would ignore the NDA to not stream until a certain date so PGI and the company that does the marketing for them said "OK then no demo".

Marketing will start in november via youtube, twitch etc.

Mechlab had a little change that you can now equip smaller guns in bigger slots. Before it was big slots for big guns only.

That where my imporntent points. There was somsthing about the party and other minor stuff but nothing I was interested in.

My notes:
MW5 Morning AMA notes:
3 Announcements
- Demo moved back to 26-Nov. Reason is to tie in to marketing for official launch. No NDAs needed
- Possible MechLab change: allow smaller weapons to fit into larger weapon hardpoints
- Dec party, more like Steam kickoff event than MechCon

Other notes
- Committed to 10-Dec launch
- Marketing will start late Oct
- < 20% of pre-Epic announcement pre-orders asked for refunds
- Ray tracing only in hangar
- Modding AMA in future
- Two game play trailers and MechLab trailers in Nov

MW5 Evening AMA notes:
Same announcements[/color]

Other notes
- MW5 allows for full access to Inner Sphere (more than HBS BT). However, there are shorter cinematics.
- MW5 plays slower than MWO
- MW5 has a free camera. Russ does not know if it will be available for 26-Nov demo
- Co-op players within the host's campaign can only pilot 'mechs in host's stable; no re-configuring. No such rules if playing instant action
- Some of the AI pilots you could recruit have lower max trainable abilites than others
- MW5 has ~ 50 'mech chassis; ~ 200 'mechs total
- Campaign starts in Davion space
- AI pilots will not complete mission if player dies. Co-op plays could - There is night vision, but not thermal vision (just didn't look good)

I listened to the evening session. I was a little disappointed that the beta (now demo???) was delayed. But thinking about it, ... I have been in I/T for nearly 40 years, including 25 years with a large I/T hardware/software/services company. All of our betas were done under NDA, by invite only, with very formal reporting objectives and procedures outlined in the beta agreement. Offering a "closed beta" to anyone who preordered isn't really a closed beta, even with an NDA. Pre-release demo is, I suppose, more accurate.

I'm learning that the gaming community looks at things differently than businesses do. Regardless, if I was advising PGI, I would tell them to include disclaimers in all communications with customers and potential customers. Such as, all statements are subject to change, including release dates, up to product release. I would include that statement in the AMA announcement, at the beginning of the AMA and at the end of the AMA. I would include that statement in all roadmaps and statements of direction.

My impression, in the year that I have been playing MWO, is that PGI is a little too willing to tell their customers what they are thinking, when they are thinking it, and if you're going to do that you really should include disclaimers such as the one I mentioned above.

I know there are wildly divided opinions here about the switch to Epic Games. Some customers thought they were promised a Steam key, and feel betrayed. Others, such as myself, thought they were promised MW5 and don't really care how it is distributed. PGI might have saved themselves some grief by including a disclaimer in their announced plans that everything is subject to change up to product release. Because, as we have seen, in reality PGI operates under that (reasonable) assumption, that everything is subject to change up to the actual release of the product.

I've been losely following the development. It's my understanding that we're getting a beta (no campaign, just quickplay/battle type stuf) a month before release to mess around with if we preordered way back when. This is still correct, right? My friends and I already have things scheduled to start on Nov 10th. Just want to make sure we're still on schedule.

I believe they pushed back the 'beta' to two weeks before release and now call it a 'Demo'.

We PAID good money for a month of beta access. If they're going to do that, they should push back release so we get what we were promised. Either that or they gotta make it up to us in another way. I swallowed the switch to Epic, understanding the forces of marketing were at work. I swallowed the missed release date because I want a game that works, not a buggy one. However, THIS change is just disrespectful to us.

Mmm
Russ said Demo only like a thousand times
New date is Nov 26th, 2 weeks later release

Sigh, because of marketing reasons (as a "bonus" no streaming restrictions or NDA); yay /s

Man remembering about times when Demos where free and not a pre order feature

At least the pics of MW5 look pretty I guess

I have no interest in listening to whatever garbage that PGI is going to have at this AMA. The last AMA when they decided to stab us in the back by going epic fail store exclusivity was the last straw.

So why post on the AMA ? seems kind of silly...

Best line "Others, such as myself, thought they were promised MW5 and don't really care how it is distributed. " and I'm in the boat and BINGO!. And I have been in IT for 34 years and the last line, from what I have seen these days is the norm.

Marketing has, over the years, in the gameing industrie made people belive that the "Beta" is a real beta instead of a pre-release demo of the game and that its something super, duper, importend stuff.
It is just a marketing tool and it works. Trying to tell people that beta tester is a seriouse job that you get paid for not that you pay to be part of falls constantly on deaf ears.
So when Russ said he no longer wants to call it a beta but a Demo I thought "finaly someone nameing it what it is".

While they don't say "disclaimer this and that" I think from listeing you get that things are open to change. Its the same with StarCitizen. Everytime they said "We hope we are done around 10.05.XX" people go up in arms when its not done that exact date even when they said they HOPE to be done. People....
