Hi LordNothing,

I know that, but that stuff does not exist in my C:\Users folder...

Thanks,
CFC Conky

appdata is a hidden folder by default, so be sure you set your folder options accordingly. or just enter "%AppData%" into explorer. unless steam is putting it elsewhere. try searching for hotas.remap or the SavedHotas Folder.

also check under: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\???
though i dont have a steam install and i dont know if it would be there or not.

steam uses the format:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<steam id>\<game id>\

the steam id i think is your user id, should be a number. the game id for mw5 is 784080.

using numbers instead of names is confusing as hell.

Hi LN,

Ok, so I got my pedals to work (Yay!), but when I try map buttons on my CH throttle I just get a 'none' message on the in-game mapping screen.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

idk, its a good thing you are running ch because thats what i use. i think what i did was used the "ch manager device 1", which is the virtual driver that lets you combine your sticks into a single logical controller. VID=068E PID=C010. i only mapped the axes and used the ch software to map buttons directly to the default keyboard controls. my profile is up on my google drive. the hotas.remap for that is somewhere in this thread, idk why i didnt throw that in the zip.

thats what i use, i have a hotas.remap somewhere in this thread (i dont have time to find it right now), and my profile on my google drive. i mostly mapped the controls directly to the default keystrokes, and so my hotas.remap only used my axes. i also combined my controllers and use the vid/pid for "ch manager device 1" , which is the virtual driver installed by ch control manager. il try to reply in more detail later.

er double post. i thought i lost it to the forum kraken.

Ok, got it.

The CH manager software doesn't work for me in Win10 so I'll use Joy2key.

Thanks again for all your help!

it works for me. you need to run the 4.55a version. the a revision was the windows 10 compatible version. its a bit wonky in that since it installs drivers it needs to be installed with admin privileges or something weird. i dont remember, this is a very old install of windows and it has accumulated so much cruft over the years.

Ok so to use my joystick the way I want to I've remapped it with Joystick Gremlin and Vjoy, and created a remap file for this and completely deleted the actual hardware from the remap and it's still seeing it as the hardware not the virtual joystick. I've even set my preferred joystick to the virtual one in controller settings or whatever.

I'm completely at a loss here and why can't Piranha have proper joystick support when games from like the late 90's did? This is nothing new. Kinda annoyed I've been at this 4 hours and no matter what I do to the remap file it changes nothing in the game.

I've been a Mechwarrior fan since the original on my 386. This game looks like it will be good, but I don't know because for some reason a modern game doesn't have built in joystick support? I don't quite understand Posted Image

I'd like to use my Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback, but I get that a 20 year old stick wouldn't be supported. I have a Logitech Extreme 3d Pro though, it's only a few years old, not sure why it won't work with this game. Posted Image

ive seen 3rd party usb adapters for those. in that case you would probibly use the vender/device id of the adapter. i myself wrote an arduino based joystick library that works in the game. you need to use the ids for the arduino. if you can talk to the stick (it either used the midi interface, though i think it had a second protocol that clocked out the stick state on button one and used the other 3 for data).
