So having sunk in a good 12 hrs now, the skeletons there but god PGI need to learn how to make proper missions and story.. There idea of 'proper missions' is stuff spawning in ontop of you :/ endless grind of units it makes you wonder if they played MW1,2,3,4 at all you know the games were there were a set number of units at the start of a mission and you could actually take things stratigically to try and minimize damage in your lance etc?

Apparently not in MW5 Mercs, come around clear and check and entire areas clear get engaged and then suddenly with out even a drop ship dropping them off you have a dozen 'spawns' right ontop of you. Gets even worse on the 'war' contacts ones were you can stay in for as long as you want.. find the right spot and you can basically watch the units spawn in and pot them before they ever get to move etc.

If PGI want to have 'spawned' constnat stuff put it out at a distance..

Map wise, *groan* yeah..

like i said there is a skeleton of a good game here, but it doens't feel ready for release, it doesn't feel polished.. and that's with out getting onto things like oh yeah your main character in the drop ship? A floating camera.. no body at all.

your First officer.. well she's that stoid she barely moves.. though her armor looks cool.
the engineer.. doesn't even twitch..

PGI honstly go look at Battletech's idle animations in the Argo!

Want to love the game, but it's also frustrating as hell when your game is basically cheating to win.

welp... my Centurion got replaced by an Assassin after switching them around the mech bays... what a load of BS

anyone else geting some sort of lag when shooting, its like i have to press the mouse buton twice for it to work (shoot) (seems to happens when there is some chat happening), and the lance comands sometimes doest work also.
my user experience is bad because of it.
Other bad stuff to note is general low quality textures (high setting), on some parts its looks like a proper fresh game on others it looks like a 10 year old game.
enemies spawning way too close is very unrealistic and also friendly destroying (runing over) friendly strutuctures happens way too often to a point of invalidating some missions
A good game but have many flaws.

well 3 days in now. the game isnt bad at all but... BIG BUT... later the game you loose and loose and loose cause enemys spawn atop or behind or middle your lance.. i can barely drop a heavy and 2 meds currently(droping lighter dont helps cause they die even faster) and they get mauled to death evry time by endless masses of Lights and meds along with 10-20 tanks helis at once. tactial Play is nearby immposible… you fought of a wave turn to your target and bam next wave Right behind you apeared and tear you apart. and holy **** what you did with the locusts? thoose Things are nearby imortal you cant hit em and if you do they eat so much dmg its insane. pls fix that and the game will be way better.

Epic Campaign!

Ok it was only 24hrs instead of 60^^, but it was a great ride and lots of fun!

when I did the update yesterday it felt like I had to redownload the whole game it was like 21GB or something like that. Is that the way it is always going to be for updates?

I do think they missed an opportunity here with the NPC's. The live actors in Mechcommander and Mechwarrior 4 Vengence, while campy, brought a certain grittyness and realisim to the game. Just because we can do CGIdosn't mean we need to do EVERYTHING in CGI.

After watching all the videos and reading all the posts I see that many things in MW5 seem to be incomplete or just plain not done correctly (like grammar errors and Mechs spawn locations not being thought out very well). I originally pre-ordered for the Steam release and got a refund when it was no longer going to be released on Steam initially, so I am definitely going to wait for the Steam release, because by then most of the problems with the game will probably be fixed. In the meantime I will play MWO and BATTLETECH for my MECH fix.

A temp fix to spawn at your feet syndrome.
Periodically look away from where you are going as you approach new areas.
They will spawn much sooner and further away.

Pgi wanted the enemies to spawn as you approach but with complaints about the beta, they changed it so they can't spawn if you are looking at their spawn points so the millisecond you look away they spawn.

They should have had new enemies spawn at the next area as you finish an area for story missions but they seem to be trying to save on engine resources for low end machines. The instant missions don't have this issue as far as I've seen with 20 missions attempted in skirmish.

Curious what weapons you're using as having no trouble taking their legs out with an AC10 followed by laser fire?

It was really slow for me but the download was small (400-450MB I vaguely recall) - seemed like the applying was very time consuming possibly due to encryption as it did it throughout the patch. It could just be the Epic patching of course as this is my only game there. Posted Image

I hate this game... The fact that ennemis are spawning where you're not looking at... it's so stupid... You can't scout, choose a road, play cleaver... You just have to run in brainless...
For me, it's a rollback from mw4... In this game, mechs were turned off, or patrolling... waiting for something to enter the fight. Here... they spawn from nowhere... It doesn't give life to the world, it looks like an arena with someone launching you ennemis from outside, asking you "do you have fun ?".
I also find mechs sluggish and slow, and fights don't feel satisfying...
I hope things will improve in the future, but I don't see how. I'm very sad of mechwarrior 5 being that crapy unfinished game...

PGI... Learn to make games. Learn how to do proper VFX. Learn how to optimize the game. Hire some people who know what are they doing. Overdraw in the game is horrible, frame rate is abysmal. Do you know what number 8 does in Unreal Engine when working with particles? It shows you OVERDRAW and I can tell as an VFX artist that is completely WHITE which is TERRIBLE. You can also CHECK IT in viewport by pressing ALT-8. Game is unplayable. End. TRASH.

After 12 hrs ingame, the only thing i do NOT like are the spawn locations.
Please, those have to be out of visual range. First thing you have to change with a patch.
It's ridiculous defending a building and have mechs/tanks spawning at 200 mts from you.
We always see helicopters approaching from distance, do the same with tanks and mechs.
Or even better: let mechs fly in only by dropships.

A little help for you.

When you are approaching areas that are likely to have enemy spawn points, look away periodically before you actually get there. They will spawn MUCH farther away from you as you won't be on their spawn points.
They're set to not spawn if you are looking directly at their spawn points.

Locusts are far from immortal, but I do recommend the use of ACs or SRMs until pulse lasers appear in your campaign.

Another tip against anything trying to "circle of death" you.
Cut the circle, get in the way of the circle and the AI will literally stop, be dumbfounded for several seconds, and then decide on a new strategy.

Kill it while it's derping.

And on the occasions where they don't derp, their preference to have some distance to circle means they will run directly away from you (either forward or backward) in a semi-straight line (with the occasional curves; just correct for these) making them very, very easy to deal with.

Funny and sad at the same time. I cant log into Mechwarrior5. I wrote EPIC tech support, two techs and 3 letters later, Epic still cant help me login. I wrote PGI. PGI told me how to log in mechwarrior5. 3 easy steps. I think there is a glitch. don't know if it is on my end or EPIC end. It don't matter and I don't care, I just want to log into game. As stated I have never been able to log in. Some of the questions EPIC needs to know , Screenshot of invoice / receipt of purchase. Screenshot of my account when my account was still good. Date when I lost access to my account. Some of the questions I cant answers or don't know how to answer? The first 3 letters EPIC responded in good time. Waiting on the 4 letter its been well over 24 hours. I don't want to use PGI fix, just incase Epic knows something PGI doesn't know. Even if I cant log in, no refund. that's sad. Saddest part, wile I was having trouble logging in, some low life, scum bag, MF, snaked my login name! I hope we cross paths on the battle field
