Huh, when you mention it, yeah I dont think MW4 ai comrades used them either, at least rarely. But the MW4M enemy A.I sure did. If not dynamically, only scripted I think.
Like one of the first MW4 mercs mission where you have to escort artillery, the first mech you encounter are a Cougar JJ up above from a hill I think.

Yeah, but as you noted, I think that those were at last partially scripted events. I remember that Thors used them on Hesperus II too, when you scanned those Fafnir production lines. But other than that ... I do not think I have ever seen any 'Mech in MW4 jump in ordinary combat.

MW3 was better in this respect. Lancemates in MW4 would only answer "Can't follow", if there was some impassable obstacle between you and them. MW3 lancemates usually waited a few seconds and then jumped.

Actually, the new patch is incoming:
  • Players have complained about enemy units spawning from the thin air - the new patch could do something with it.
  • Players have complained about enemy units arriving via DropShip - the new patch could do something with it.
  • Players have complained about not being able to repair and rearm their 'Mechs in certain places - the new patch could do something with it.
  • Players have complained about joystick problems - the new patch should do something with it.
  • Players have complained about 'Mechs in Cold Storage - the new patch should do something with it.
  • etc.
It seems to me that PGI actually listens to player complaints.

We do not know how successful those fixes are going to be, but at least they are a step in the right direction.

And then the patch went on to address most of those line items.

This forum is rife with imbalance, because everyone who likes the game is off playing the game. There is obvious room for improvement, and a myriad of little things that are imperfect about the game, but the core gameplay is great. I'm excited for what modders will do with the game.

That too. I'm not hungry to engage with trolls going on trying to make MW4 comparisons as to why this game is "poopy" etc. I have nothing to prove to those people, and a lot of their complaints are contrived for the pure sake of ranting. Constructive criticism is so far in much lower volume than noise.

Beat the game and it is awesome.

A few problems are :
-still too much mech customization. I wish we were forced to play stock builds. Otherwise i do the same following self inflicted inhouse rules.
-The game gives you huge spikes in difficulties a couple of times:
the farmer mission, the comstar communications and a couple others. 80+ story demolition missions gave me a TON of trouble.

The game wasnt designed for PC its design to release on a console and we just happened to get it first. Its why the graphics are crap, its why there are no choicse for skills, its why there are "upgraded" weapon pips and its why the spawns are so bad. You can even see in game where they have markers for the console. The map interactions are marked with B even though the game default is E. There are also places where the stacked 3 lines for the console menu on xbox are set in as well.

Weapon tiering isn't new in the BT universe to Mw5. And it's not 'proof' of a console port. "Choice for skills" doesn't prove anything either - plenty of games, console or otherwise, have and do not have skill trees? Ok?

As to whether or not this makes it to console: so what? That would be awesome, more gamers invested in this franchise. Why shouldn't they? Yes, I can definitely see how the title seems tailored to option as a console port. Good for them, it's a smart move, saves them work if they do port it over to the Xbox or Playstation (more likely the former).

*cough* *cough* there is mod support incoming, and with it, obscene "HD/4K/OMG" graphics addons the community tends to make.

Everyone seems to have their own idea what "crap" graphics are. It's not a constructive comment. I don't know if you mean, for example, the texture size/resolutions, the poly count, the lighting, the particle effects, the destructive environment, the skybox, the foliage, the snow, etc.

The game is first and foremost a robot romper, not a sightseeing expedition or a flagship title (like Crysis, eg.) for a graphics engine launch. I for one am impressed with the UT4 engine, and its scaling between big and small, near and far things. For example, you do see VTOLs with rotors or mech leg movements that don't update every tick if they're far enough away. That's smart, on paper. At the moment though my only complaint would be this might be tied to framerate drops when zooming.

Having a perfect game - right from the box - would be preferable, but I am okay with gradual improvements too. I just need to see that PGI works on fixing the greatest problems and that listens to the players. So far it seems that this is the case.
