I would rather have seen PGI spend the time to try to fix actual problems with the game instead of trying to prop up a dead bucket

..and I agree with MOPS above.. allow 2man groups into solo queue!

I feel to resolve the odd player count in Group Queue - a solo player that want to opt in to group queue should use the LFG button and join a group that needs an extra player.
Also we should not allow 7-man teams. this creates the need for a solo player to join.
2,3,4,5,6, and 8 man groups should be allowed.

Each player selects a mech and the group quick launch button shows you the mech distribution just like quick play.
Mech selected was an assault and a heavy.
Queue times were reasonable (1-5 min), comparable to getting in with a heavy or assault mech in QP.
One suggestion: consider enabling group text chat during the wait screen to allow players something to do while waiting in the queue. Understandable that group voice chat doesn't kick off until the screen with all players synching up, but sometimes if the wait is long it's boring to wait with your group without being able to do group things like text chat.

I believe we have old maps in rotation already, called Classic maps.

Well, at least SOMEBODY remembers that the poor thing exists! And I believe a 7-man team would be illegal, pretty much like it used to be impossible to make an 11-man team before. And I do support opt-in for solo players and probably two-mans in solo queue, at least as an experiment.

In Euro prime time QP matches are found on EU and NA servers within half a minute regardless of weight class. Agree on the chat issue, the game functionally freezes out when searching for a match. I fail to see why I cannot chat or even use mechlab, at least for mechs not locked out for the match.

Many people are returning to group queue with small Lance sized units. Matchmaking is fast and everyone seems to be enjoying themselves a lot being able to drop in small groups which is great! The laughter, the generally happy mood is just so awesome to behold.
I also see that a lot of people are willing to try group queue because it's easier to find a few buddies and play together, which was what many of us joined MWO for in the first place. In 12v12, forming a 4 man group can take eternity to find a match.
In short, people I observed trying it seem really happy about it and the drops are fast.
In short, much win!
PS: Devs should join Group Queue, using pseudonyms if need be to get a real feel

LFG has and always will be a rubbish system in MWO. It's implementation is akin to something from 2003.
It cannot ever be relied upon.

We will all see how this went in the end of course.
I'll play with my group to see and participate this new mechanic, and hear about what they think.
