I did like the 8 vs 8 group queue too. But I am not sure if it would work besides this type of mixed queue as the waiting times could be too long. Depends on the amount of players active etc.

If people didn't mind losing so much to stacked teams of seal clubbers and loved getting an education, why was group queue dead?

Most likely what will trickle down is the ralization that players outside of the comp groups and highest skill solos have no effect on the outcome of the game, lesser skilled players will feel useless and overpowered and stop playing.
I'm solo q, I'm decent, I'm already being outperformed every round and while I know how to weasel my way around and get decent kills and damage its obvious that I am not as effective as I was.
This will kill the game. What people will come to realize is that the "comp" and group players were far fewer in number and the solo q potatos were propping the game up.
My advice to you if you want to contribute: stay with your team and shoot what they shoot. One of the biggest skills you can learn is to properly use the mini-map. Just like when learning to drive a car they teach you to constantly keep glancing at your rear and side view mirrors.. same with mini-map.. if your dot is starting to look lonely, quickly find your team. Another tip is to not expose your back to the enemy. Raise your front armour and lower your rear and this will greatly increase your life expectancy. When I first started playing I remember splitting my armour 50% between front and back.. now I run 3 or 4 in the back and the rest in the front (I would run less in the rear if it weren't for arties).
Also, take a look at what builds players are using.. dropping in this new queue will bring your game up much faster than dropping solo queue where it's like the blind leading the blind.

The purpose of this change wasn't to fix matchmaker or end stomping.. the purpose was to add the ability to drop with a friend in a more organized environment. I am seeing it, and several others.. the nascar has all but ended and coms are being used more.. these are added benefits that solo queue rarely brings. This change is a win even though it's not the win some people were looking for.
Funnily enough it's the other end of the spectrum when I was playing, barely any coms were used, which were to really direct the pugs in one direction. Nascar still happens though, dropped a few solo with worse groups, same results happened as mentioned; 12-0 stomps, and so forth.
And I never mentioned fixing the MM, just relaying the results, results that were expected. Also the fact that Paul is expecting matches to become "more competitive" is somewhat odd, considering that there is a comp queue which is now closed, and the issue that there is no real incentive to play competitive other than the thrill and reward of winning a match.
When I play actual comp, that's actual fun. When I play quickplay, I don't feel the thrill as often because it's usually one sided, and I'm dealing with people who have no regard for team composition or movement depending on who's in the match.

I too really enjoyed 8v8 but I found the matches ended way too quickly.. not enough players to make it exciting or memorable.. this is much better.

Group queue was dead because population is low. This is the whole reason PGI has made this change..

I don't know if you're being sarcastic with this advice.
Look at Jarls I'm not a star, but its obvious I don't really need basic game advice, I've been around for a looong time, unlike that Death Star this Ace of Spades is authentic. I just never cared for groups or competitive play. The comp group players are still are better, but like I said I can hold my own. Its not me that Im worried about.

Assaults have been the highest scoring class in qp forever, so they are definitely not handicapped. When I pilot an assault I don't feel vulnerable to a single light mech already.
To be fair you in a light mech would make easy work of an Assault lol

From the solo drops I just had, I didn't see the massive stomp. Maybe a slight one sided near the end of the matches. But, even at the middle, then a downward fall. Very much like a tug of war feel. Very even in the middle of the match, until one team finds that weak spot in the enemy to finish it up.
Most games ending up with a 12 - 5 ending. I do agree that the tonnage on the groups may need looked at, and the possibility of groups of 3 instead of 4.
Another 12 - 5 ending

Keep telling yourself that Daed.
I played group queue. I stopped playing group queue because solo was a crapload more fun.
And PGI, please look at how much money I spend on this game.
I wouldn't mind an 'opt in' feature; or occasional weekend events slanted towards group and comp play, rather than just the general objective type events now. That could potentially get organic additional group play going.

I quit playing after group q died, i am looking forward to playing this weekend.
Solo is boring cancer game.

Only if they do the same for me But no PGI should not care about how much money you spent.
Group Q stop due to pop, looking foward to playing again with other mates coming back.

I think you misunderstand me. I don't know if the MM has thrown tiers out the window
It has to be thrown out the window, otherwise many groups could not be formed and launch matches with causing all sorts of errors. Group queue has NEVER taken tier into consideration when forming groups, same as faction warfare. If they really wanted a way for friends to group and play...they should have restored the scouting mode of 4 v 4 and just called it something else (I'm not even going to mention the failure which has been Solaris).

I didn't mean to insult.. I also gave those pointers to others because there are many newer players reading these forums. I guess I'm just confused why you say you don't feel like you contribute in group matches. Are you used to being the big fish in the solo-queue pond and you don't like suddenly having to share your damage?

I don't have to, I just look at player numbers on steam..
Solo queue is painful but it beats staring at the spinning thingy..
