It's just personal taste. Any mech would do it, as any 15+ ton Mech would be enough to step over the zombies and walk safely to absolutely anywhere.
Edit: Or maybe Black Jack. A little more space to store supplies, good speed, and it looks a little more comfortable.

but I just discovered this quote from Sarna.net:
"While it is possible for a normal-sized human to use the battle armor, this design is tailored for the Clans' giant Elemental warriors and only they can bring out its fullest potential."
So, apparently, I wouldn't be as effective in this thing because i'm not an Elemental. (The infantry, not the BA)
SO, I have chosen a new BA to suit my zombie killin' needs.
THE CAVALIER!
I would probably pick a Small Laser to combat the zombies at range or a flamer if I like fighting in close quarters.
Actually, that makes me wonder, which is more useful? The laser has more range and can melt through (almost) anything, but the flamer can start fires and create a barrier of death for zombies, but it has a shorter range.

both are reasonably fast. and can support lasers.
the adders flamer would be a bonus until the fuel runs out.
both are before 3050.
a lack of hands on either is noted but the adder has a nice flat torso on top with plenty of room for cargo.
the firefly has JJ's for mobility but lacks cargo room.
both are in the 30 ton range.
since the puma is in omnimech the weapon pods would be replaceable if you happened upon another omni.( i think that is right? correct me if i am wrong)
as for sleeping arrangements just sleep in the pilot seat so the zombies don't sneak up on you in the night. and i'm no expert on how the mechs start-up process is designed but maybe keep it warm and ready so you don't have to cold start it?

Today's pseudo-scientific zombies have incredible powers (that make no sense since they'd be burning calories at a cannibalistic rate).
If destroying the brain works, then cooked brains should also work, dammit.

Major Bill Curtis, on 10 June 2012 - 07:31 PM, said:
Why?
Because the Urbanmech, slow though it may be, is still faster than a zombie.
Further, zombies are more prevalent in urban areas.
Also, the Urbie has jump jets, which means it can jump up and smash the zombies beneath it.
Finally, what else would you use an Urbanmech for? Clearly, it is the best 'mech for (re)killing zombies.
But you're gonna run out of ammo for the main gun REAL quick. You DO know that, right? The Urbie is ALMOST as bad (ammo-wise) as the Hollander. *no ideas there devs!*
