The 8Q can be nasty with its PPC +HSL quirk, but otherwise yeah the mech ain't in a good spot.
The Awesome 8Q is far from bad. It could use a little bit of hitbox adjustments since the mech is as wide as a barn, but other than that it's got way better mobility and acceleration that most of my other assault mechs when fully skilled. The PPC quirks along with the Warhawk make this thing a monster.
To answer OP's question, I can't vouch for what is the worst mech in MW:O but my vote would be both the Nova Cat and the Night Gyr. The Nova Cat suffers from ridiculously low arm syndrome, the prime is absolute trash (since cERLL have been nerfed into the ground and need some serious help), it's got horrible hitboxes and the only viable thing you can run are missiles which is IMO boring.
The Night Gyr used to be a really good pop tart mech until PGI beat it to death with the nerf stick. It suffers from very low pod space, low arm mounts (though not as bad as the Nova Cat and it does have some good hardpoints), and is pretty fragile. It does have decent jump jet capabilities which does address some of the issues above, but I'd like to see the mech reworked.
Other contenders are the Executioner, Nightstar, Timberwolf, Banshee, and a few others I can't think of off the top of my head. If I had to choose one that would need the most help first, then my vote goes to the Nova Cat. It's one of the very few mechs after I fully skilled and really tried hard to enjoy, I was forced to sell off because it's in such an abysmal state.
