A streaming schedule would be nice where others than the US-players can attend.
Otherwise there is no way to hope for either the keyboard or the hero-mech at all.

I really like this event and the prizes being given out, but I don't think it will help much in bringing in new players or drawing back old ones. The main problem is the difficulty of getting the mech; I'll have no problem getting it (almost have it already) and most people who already play regularly won't have a problem either, but someone thinking of jumping into the game will have a lot more difficulty grinding through to get it. Especially the Scouting Rewards, Components Destroyed, and Kill/Kill most damage dealt (these should probably be reduced by half).

It would be better to make the mech easy to get to attract new players and then dangle another prize (like the camo pattern) that will take longer to grind as a way of trying to keep them playing.

Thanks for the mechbay .., as I already have a fully skilled Huntsman Prime, the mech is USELESS for me, and marked for selling it Posted Image
I would prefer at least Champion or Special mechs as rewards, even if they are the same as the standard variant.

The requirements to getting the free mech are fairly low considering you got 24 days to complete it. It's just casually playing the game.

It is casually playing for people like us who have played the game for a while, but not so much for someone just picking up the game trying to grind through it with unskilled trial mechs. Especially since they'll likely have no idea what a 'Scouting Reward' is or how to get one. Most people will decide whether they like a game and will keep playing or drop it for something else in the first couple of days; the prize won't keep them playing if they end up getting bored or frustrated before they get it, so having 24 days doesn't really matter for someone trying out the game for the first time.

These rewards are great for all players, but the main goal is to draw new players in. It would be better to draw them in with an easy to get main prize and then keep them grinding (likely in their new mech) for some more difficult to get lesser prizes (like the camo pattern).

Why would I as a MWO player and customer want to show anything to Razer?
I do not care about their metrics or whatever and I am not responsible for their promotion to be a success.
You make it almost sound like we owe them.
It's up to them to create a funnnel to their website that's attractive and if I don't visit their website then they either failed or I am not the target audience.
There's also no point in creating lots of traffic that doesn't convert just because people feel like they need to please the "sponsor".

Guess you don't understand marketing.

Marketing brings in revenue through potential spending by customers as well as an income stream to the organisation displaying the advert. If you hadn't seen the event or played in it; it is possible you would not have known about the new keyboard. The event means you do know for certain - it remains your prerogative to visit the site or make a purchase.

To show that their advertising campaign has been worthwhile, they need a metric, in this case a click through to identify the potential audience coverage and interest (no further details would be necessary other than which link was used, in this case PGI's).

No interest (regardless of conversion to a sale of their product through any retailer) means no further investment in that advertising route, means a lesser income stream for the organisation that has been commissioned to run the campaign, means less money to invest or show as a return and will constrict potential investment in the project/business as a whole. Considering the recent takeover of PGI & MWO, this could have a clear repercussion on the life of the game.

You may not owe them anything, but this is a potential income stream that means you get to play the game longer; so you do owe yourself and others the opportunity to support this event in a way that is meaningful, or is it that you want MWO to close by not exploring other avenues of income (other than subscriptions or even more micro-transactions that come out of your pocket) that cost you and other players nothing but a few click and moments of your time?

Is it? but it's not really advertised outside of the community, how should people who are not playing MWO supposed to hear about the event. Also a free mech doesn't make people suddenly start playing the game, especially if you have no idea what one free mech means then you have no idea if this is even worth it or not. It could be that you can buy mechs by the dozen for cheap and this is a rather poor reward. You'd need at least have a friend tell you about it who is in the game. I don't think this event's main goal is to draw in new players.

Reaching new players is a goal but so is bringing players back.
Initially we are focusing on bringing players back while we work to improve the new players experience. (and fix a ton of issues)
Once we have made key changes to the new player experience, improved key features. and added localization it makes more sense to spend money marketing to new players and in new regions.
We really are planning on tackling a lot of issues this year and I want to make sure the game is in a better state before we reach out.

Iam not asking you to change it but since you ask! my memory may fail me but :

Earn 30 Scouting Rewards 0 / 30
Earn 100 Components Destroyed 0 / 100
Earn 10 Savior Kills 0 / 10

those are the ones thar scare me the most. not sure about savior kills tho

I do understand marketing Posted Image , but I am here as a customer of PGI. It is not my job to click on links to make Razer's funnel look good. It's also not my job to worry about how their metrics and conversion rate looks. That's the job of Razer's and PGI's marketing team. Besides it's of no use if I click the link because I feel obligated, but I am totally not their target and just leave again. I want MWO to work, but by doing the right things that make me, as a customer, spend money with them. I already told them what I want to see and what I would spend money on. The rest is up to them. That's all I am willing to invest and if they can't make it work, I am aware that this could mean shutting down the game.

Razer x MechWarrior
nor should you feel obligated - It was a great cross promotion that just happened to present it's self over the last week. Razer has been a great co-marketing partner to us and I suspect we stand more to benefit more from the relationship than they do. We intend to continue to work with Razer as they have a huge install base and in my humble opinion their products that are high quality and made with the gamer in mind.

You the gamer.
With that in mind - Playing the game, engaging in forums, or making purchase decisions are all about doing what is right for you the gamer. I 100% respect that, and we are keenly aware of what you guys want and are working to get those improvements in the game as soon as possible.

My hope is together we can improve the product and grow the audience to revitalize the game and community as a whole. Internally the codename we have for this effort is "MWO Reborn" so stick with us this year and I believe we can achieve some really great things.

Be the first to target any opposing mech is the easiest way. If you only play big slow fatties, it may be hard, but if you play a variety of mechs, it'll just happen.

If they press r. Or hold over a target and haven't disabled autolock. The former isn't a given, and for the latter I've seen tutorials on disabling autolock because some people feel it allows lurmers to leech off them and they will do anything to stop that.

For a month long event, the requirements are relatively trivial. That people are still claiming its too hard is an interesting insight to senses of entitlement.

Ordinarily I read and empathise with your posts, but the suggestion of pushing people down a game mode I have to disagree with. Give the option of "x" number of matches to advance through a challenge from a selection of modes, but those matches would not have to include all modes, i.e. 20 matches from QP/CW/S7, but you would qualify with 20 QP, 10 QP/CW, 20 S7 or any mix there of, depending on your preference.

The idea isn't to force them to grind a particular mode. You just toss in an optional goal with enough incentive to engage them in the mode for an hour or two - not something required to get the mech, but something that would be worthwhile for the time it takes.

For a month long event, the end goal is rather poorly paced - the impression on the players is that they're expected to grind the goals in a short amount of time rather than approach the event piecemeal. Structuring the event so that it's broken up into multiple weeks, with each week activating a new set of goals until the event ends, would work much better

yes the goal will be to have weekly missions to accomplish.
My one concern with that is if someone is away for a week they would miss out unless I have them un the whole month but with weekly start dates
then the 4 missions each starting a week apart but all culminating at the end of the month. So technically you could still try and grind them all out at the end of the month.

Also think it would be good to have a choice of variant for options.
Like lets say March is the hunchback. You technically could have a choice of Hunchback Standard Variants.

Lots of ideas :)
Thanks for your feedback!

And then you would have a bunch of people complaining that they have missed one objective in week 2 and now they don't get a mech yada yada yada, big drama, people being 'forced' to play for weeks, unfair…
This is much less hassle for PGI and a lot more convenient for players (that take the time to actually read the event description.)

I would have the 4 mission sets run till the end of the month but then start them weekly. Technically could grind them out in the last weekend still. That way weekend Warriors can distribute their playtime.

Yes, by "target" I meant press r. And yeah. Simple to do all these. Heck this is my second account (fully F2P). Easy enough to do for both.

Given how many events require all four classes, it makes sense to have at least one of each. <shrug>

Once i played on the Annihilator. At the end of the match we lost, but in personal achievements I had 8 scouting rewards.
What the rest of my team was doing, don't ask - I don't know.

Thanks Matt, and the fact that it an omni-mech makes it even more worthwhile. I really like that it is an entire month, so I can just run a few games a day and get it done without fomo setting it with a tight deadline.

Would be great if each month was a loyalty mech. Thus, you reward your active monthly player base. The extra CB farming, allows me to buy more mechs and bays, hence getting me to spend more $ on the game :P

If you guys drop the Urbie IIC, you will have it ordered faster than you can say pre-order :D
