Get rid of all velocity nodes! Revert back the velocity buffs and even nerf ac2 velocity further.. we all know ac2 is too strong..


AC2s are fun it keeps the distance from all those MRM and PPC OP mechs. People get really mad lmao

Hello all, I've been spending the last two days reading the forum threads, monitoring Twitch chats, and reading all the feedback sent to me through email, Discord, Twitter, etc. As you might imagine, as this is already a 34 page thread, the amount of feedback has been substantial.

I'm just making a quick post to let you know that Matt and I will be addressing this patch, future patches, Quarter 2 development, the overall MWO Roadmap, and more in a Dev Vlog this week. In the meantime, continue with the feedback, venting, or anything else you want to get across to us.

Before roling out a patch make sure to clarify the changes with the comunity.Such problems could be avoided easily in the future.

no more (or less) venting, or anything else can make us feel good at this point, when we know that it have no effect, like all the old patches and **** that pgi just put in game (or out) that make no sense. And this is becoming (or it is for a LOOONG time) Pgi policy. Big country Dictators have more flexibility then pgi

Appreciated. There is a lot of vitriol in this thread, but also some solid feedback. After playing it some more yesterday I think the normal gauss rifles are ok with this change. More up front damage and less DPS. It rewards careful aiming and skirmishing. However, one thing that hasn't been mentioned is a gauss only (or gauss primary) build is going to get less damage and thus less score. With careful shot placement you could see 300 damage with 5 kills and see a skill decrease for instance.

As I said earlier LGR needs to have it's cooldown reduced. Preferably to 4s, but any reduction would be good. It was rare to see before and now no one is going to use it.

CERPPC's are fine, like gauss it rewards careful shot placement. Light PPC and Snubnose changes are not good. Again two systems rarely seen and with this patch they will never be played by any serious players. The LPPC is a great hit and run weapon for lighter mechs, but with this huge CD increase it's DPS is horrid and it doesn't have enough front end damage to compensate. Snubnose's range is too short to be used in anything other than brawling but you are far better off using a MPL. A 2t weapon has the same DPS and while it has a duration it's one of the lowest in the game. 3x MPLs has 3x the DPS for the same heat. Cooldown needs to be much lower.

Lastly MASC. MASC has never been "meta" it's a nice addition that certain mechs can make good use of, but those mechs would likely still be good even without it. Therefore this nerf was surprising... You could have double the usage time and left everything else the same and no one would have complained.

This patch makes me think of the bigger picture. I think the current goal should be more about making all weapons viable. This patch (The weapons part.) Seems to be more about a wider vision for more of a rock paper scissors balance to MWO. And it seems like it should have been discussed with the community before these weapons changes were made. The weapons changes seem to me to be old PGI style where they make up there mind and then community has to adapt. I hope though we are moving to a new style from PGI were the PGI works with the community more on balance in MWO. Still hoping for the best long term.

It'll be good to hear more from you all later. I'm taking a vacation from MWO for the time being due to the patch. There are a few good things in it here and there, but pushing so many weapons into seven second cooldown territory is not fun, and MASC did not need to catch such a big nerf. I hope you all can roll the bad parts of this (most of the weapon changes and the masc change) back and keep the good (most of the AC velocity buffs, lighting changes, and new trials.

There's room to improve the trials ofc and I get that some changes, like the trial swaps, will be incremental, but so much of this patch is a step backwards and just reinforces the QP nascar/NSR meta that so many complain about.

Not sure if this has been touched on amongst 600+ replies, but the HGauss now has the FASTEST cooldown of all variants at 5 seconds. Reg Gauss is 7s. Light Gauss is 5.25. Clan Gauss is 7s.

This doesn't make any sense at all

you cant shoot dual AC20 without penalty and you can dual gauss? I guess 40dmg is too much

It's a remnant of boom-jaeger and such and has never been rectified.
