It's just really depressing to see how this community constantly whines or gripes at the devs and bashes the game. You blame PGI constantly for driving off players, but don't want to own up to the realization that your constant disparaging barrage here and the attitudes you bring to this gaming community are much more toxic and polarizing than any game balance fix out there. Devs aren't at fault for your constant negative behaviors, and slander you bring here daily and in game.
im going to add to this, i think its pathetic that some of the posts threaten to not spend any money or complain that they wasted c-bills buying weapons when those players are strictly free to play.

I guess that depends on your definition of 'game breaking'. My favourite mechs are now a joke due to a combination of agility nerfs and ability to 1-shot kill by the overbuffed CERPPCs flying all over the place.
I won't be logging in again until after the April patch then.

A bit unbalanced is not broken. And "one shot kills" are still extremely rare.

Dis is so great! I have never seen so openly admit a mistake!
Things like this really build confidence that you guys and especially you Daeron are serious.
Thank you so much for that!

No, it isn't. I know that not everyone works in software dev, but game breaking means it cannot be used or causes a crash. MASC doesn't perform how I want isn't game breaking. This is a video game. People need to set expectations appropriately.

I myself have not had any issues with any of the changes. Where can I go to find out why the MASC and PPC changes are being backed out? Is there a forum item about this?

I feel like I have to apologize for all the critdiots out there in MWO-land. Personally, I never saw a problem with the patch changes. People just adapted. I do like the Light Gauss upgrade - it finally became a viable weapon. Rolling back the patch returns it to the garbage bin. PPCs were fine before and after, IMO, however you should just get rid of the minimum range on the IS PPCs. It makes no sense in terms or particle physics or game play. No one plays plain IS PPCs so that needs some attention and the Light PPCs are virtually unseen on the battlefield - mod them or drop them. At the patched damage they made perhaps barely more viability; stepping back sends them to the garbage bin along with the Light Gauss.
Regarding MASC - the extended time was great. The loss of handling wasn't so bad IMO. Larger mechs shouldn't even be running it at all so I am not sympathetic with the Spirit Bear. The whole point of MASC is to give more vulnerable mechs (read lighter) more tools to enhance survivability. Quirk the Spirit Bear back to better handling if that is important. Me, I couldn't care less.
Despite the "monkey motion" on weapons, however, the greatest challenge is balancing matches in terms of player tiers, mech weights, groups, map spawns, etc. That is where your priorities should lie. Everything else is window dressing, gilding the lily, putting lipstick on the pig, pick your metaphor, and gives the appearance that PGI is listening to the player population and taking steps to upgrade the game. Avoiding the elephant in the room looks insincere. That said, the 2 map fixes in the patch were well along the path of upgrading game play so more in that direction, please. I still believe that until more is done in balancing matches and/or increasing player population, the quickest balancing fix is to add debuffs to higher tier players in lower tier matches. Almost EVERY MMORPG does this in some way. Not perfect, not permanent but at least an effort.

Firstly, thank you for the notice. I do think your post is worth a front-page news blurb considering how contentious the changes were, and that it's been effectively dead silence from you guys until this thread.
That said, I want to say I do hope the upcoming Vlog addresses why the changes the went through were made in the first place, as they generally were anything but what the community wanted. Furthermore, seeing as there will be a long time with these current values in the live client, it's a good teaching tool for game balance as much as dev-community communication issues. Do not let the month of data tempt you to justify the current patch's weapon balances and walk-back the now promised rollback.
That is what the test server is for.
Speaking of which, the aforementioned incoming test server with Gulag balance changes is absolutely wonderful news! This is what is so very sorely needed, as it allows the you guys on the dev team, and we of the community, to work together to really push this game someplace where we can be content with. It lets players see what the stats values we have in our heads and send as suggestions feel like first-hand, and lets you guys actually test the limits of what's possible to actually achieve and try wacky ideas without breaking the stale-but-familiar current live client balance.
The continued events are welcome and needed. Thank you for them. It needn't be said but I want to stress it anyways, though: roadmap milestones, test server iterations, and dialog are way more valuable.

Admittedly the community has its fair share of abrasive characters, and it's a bit more noticeable in the high end.
But the poor business decisions that affect the players aren't by the players, it's PGI. It's never more apparent than the March patch NOBODY ******* ASKED.
You can complain all of the toxicity of the community, but it will not roll back all of the bad decisions PGI ever made. Angry people gonna angry, and it's ironic that you become one of them.

It seems to me that you are confusing causal relationships.
Or are you the person who developed this ridiculous patch, went to the forum under an alt account to express your dissatisfaction with the local community?

Although I don't always agree with the decisions PGI has made in the time I've been playing this game (since 2015), I'm also not salty about the things I don't like. See, if you really don't like the way the game has developed, just stop playing. Go play something else. You can totally do that.
If you spent real money on this game, as I have, just keep in mind that whatever that dollar amount it is that you've spent entitles you to ZERO additional weight to your opinions. You certainly have a right to complain about what you don't like, but it's not productive to insult people and such. I've always been of the mind that you should come to the table with an open mind and solutions if you sincerely want to affect positive change.
If you've spent not a single penny, then why would you complain at all, since you've not contributed to the success of the developer and gotten a product for FREE? In fact, one could argue that not supporting the developer would only serve to make them fail. I suppose that is what some people want, based on what I've seen around here.
Give PGI some credit where credit is due. They produced 2 BattleTech games when nobody else was doing it. There is no other game you can go play that can replace MWO right now, or really in the last 9 years. Certainly no other game like it that has lasted this long, and that says something about PGI's "business decisions", since a business is in business to turn a profit. Usually when a business can't do that, they go under. PGI is still here, and actively developing MWO again. So....they must've done something right.
My 2 cents....or whatever opinions are worth around here.

Also I am glad to hear that the weapons changes are being reverted. I sort of like what you tried to do with the PPCs, but what you did really did break my previous PPC centric builds.
Instead of changing the existing PPCs, you could have just added extra PPCs with integrated PPC Capacitors. Add 1 ton and 5 damage to all existing IS PPCs, but double the reload time for them all as well. Clan PPCs wouldn't get the cap option but could keep their original direct damage, but maybe slightly boost their splash damage a point or two.
PPCs minimum range needs some adjusting. I get that in the old board games that standard PPC had minimum range, but that was harder to hit with, not impossible to hit. It should also be noted that AC5 had same exact min range, but it doesn't get similar treatment here. What if both ACs (standard 2 and 5s) and PPCs had min ranges that were reduced damage instead of 0 damage?
