So when does it actually give you the mech..? I redeemed for it and haven't seen it after several matches. Just curious if it takes awhile or...?

Well now that was fun, thx for the kitty Cat. Freshly painted with nice tats and a 3x2 (ERLL,UAC5,UAC2) layout it already drew some blood and yielded kills.

My account may be ancient, but I still consider myself a new player as I only started playing less than a year ago (had no machine that could run the game before). I am fiercely non-competitive and firmly entrenched in the lower tenth of the level 5 Tier. ;)

And I have to say I like this even very much! Apparently, people like me are the target audience.

Presenting a Cheshire Mad Cat for April is the kind of tongue-in-cheek that I've come to expect from BattleTech. And even if it's a low-hanging fruit, kudos to PGI for actually doing it!
The event itself is very player friendly, at least for casual players like myself. The goals are achievable even when you suck at the controls - most of them will simply accumulate over playtime, and the event is scheduled to run long enough for everybody to get the goodies without taking a day off from work.
But even the minor fluff items are fun to have. And 7 days premium time plus all the nice C-Bills is really good to have for new or weak players. Personally I'm not terribly into stuffing my cockpits with stuff (though I find war horns useful for the audio cue) but it's certainly nice to get some kind of reward for interesting side objectives.

The Trial Mech thing strikes me as a particularly good idea - give inexperienced players a reason to try them out, and make even experienced players drive a 'Mech outside of their comfort zone that isn't skilled or customized to high heaven.

Overall, a well-balanced event with style. And a free 'Mech that I'm told is absolutely worth it. Way to go!

Addendum: Took out the Dire Wolf, because the event made me do it. Never cared for Clans before. First outing, got a Johnny Five award for 5 kills. Go figure.

Good for you that you can bring out a dire and not regret it.

Oh, and about redeeming stuff from the event:
I didn't get a message, but I noted I‘ve got a bunch of C-Bills and my premium time is ticking. Apparently, you get the items when you redeem but you don't get a message about it in the game.

IMO the best mech choice. This is one of those mechs that is just fantastic and newer players may not have one yet. This is a great assault choice for anyone, but especially for a player that might have 1-3 mechs, this means they don't have to buy an expensive clan assault. Thank you!

To see the Mech, you have to Log Out then Log In.

I played HOW many games in my SCR-PRIME(I) before I realized that it needs to be a SCR-PRIME(C) instead to qualify for the pattern/MC award? Why won't it credit me all the kills and KMDD's I'm getting?!?!?! /facepalm Posted Image

Okay everybody, what is the secret behind the hit and run reward?
Can barely get one and this is driving me nuts. It´s all that keeps me from finishing the event.

Shoot enemy, do more damage to him than he does to you, disengage, go do something else INSTEAD of shooting that enemy again.

Here's a discussion thread where everyone argues over the nuance of it all...

ya just pretend your a crutch using clan ppc pop-tarter that snipes from behind his team.. that should give you a good idea how to achieve it..

Shoot the enemy in line of sight (preferably, that he does not see you), inflict at least 8 points of damage on him, leave possible his line of fire behinde cover, wait 8 seconds.
It is desirable to have a medium or long range weapon, so that the probability of getting a shot in response is less.
If these conditions are met, "hit and run" will be counted automatically.
If you receive a return shot, the achievement does not count.
This can be done on ballistics, energy and missiles (preferably not on LRM or ATM).
The key is that you must see the enemy with your own eyes. Shooting LRM or ATM on a tip from your team will not count.

Thanks for the answers. I found several discussions about this reward, but no solution. I tried a PPC Shadow Cat, but no reward at all. Will try again today.

I suggested this for years. There should be a discribtion for every event. Especially for new players.
Or at least a working Wiki.

This is why I'll advocate for adding mines to MwO. Or at least agility nerf being removed.

Simple: Shoot the enemy, hide behind cover when enemy starts to open fire on you; not getting hit is highly recommended.

---

About Trial mechs (I see that some folks may have a problem with them):

ERPPC ones: Try to hit them when they're cored for Kill Blow (with Shadow Cat you may try to snipe, especially from HPG walls, to attempt to score KMDD);

Jenner II C: Typical action with lights - SpeedTank™ and aim their legs. If target have bad defense parameter (like AA mechs like Rifleman or Jagermech) - punch them so hard to score KMDD. Otherwise - Aim low (at legs).

Stormcrow: With LRM's... Spam the isolated targets, especially those without ECM. Or even try to fight within 180 - 200m range. This is the optimal range to effectively use the full power of that trial build. Use that to wear the target down, hopefully enough to score KMDD. If Killing Blow - even better. Aim ERSL's at cored components to raise your chances.
Hellbringer: Brawl until KMDD is granted (even afer being killed), otherwise melt that cored CT with HLL's.

Onion II C: This one was hardest to complete for me, due to speaded dmg potential and short range. My recommendation: be like scavenger. Pick up the cored enemy and charge to finish them off. You have the ability to do that quickly. Then stop. Nobody pretty much look fondly on kill steals.

DWF-W: RIP AND TEAR. Until it's done.

Tried that, didn´t work. But will try again.

About trial mechs. My biggest struggle was the LRM Stormcrow. So much AMS ...

from what I know:

Quote

End an engagement with less than 15 damage taken and more than 10 damage dealt.

Note that you must not bee too far from your target or it won't count as an engagement.
