Again I thank everone for there replys many have been constructive for me. I am know going to have to except the fact that I will now be the target of every light mech out there lol. thats ok because ill be in my crab 27 waiting for you lol (to gg me) Some of the best advise i heard was try lights and youll see there not OP. which Id would do but I only have between 3 and maybe 8 hs a week to play (the greatest game on the planet) so i dont have the time to master the light mech and to me they dont look fun to play and would take to much time to learn. i would also agree that they need a good deal of skill to drive properly. I think like most players i started in an assult, then moved to a heavy. then I started to see that the big boys rarely got the support they needed so I jumped into a crab 27 and ive been in love ever after. I try to be a team player and be johny on the spot where needed. I dont give a hoot what my stats are, I want to win that round.

At that point it takes a very canny, very aware pilot to play Squirrel Games and use their presence to try and disrupt/disorient enemy positions.

Had to deal with a commando few days back like that, he made his presence known and moved to the far corner of the map trying to lure my team to him he eventually came back and started poking at people, trying to lure them out into kill zones, no one fell for the tricks though and eventually I put him down when he got too brave.

if i had a dollar for every time a light backshots an assault, and the assaults ends the game in his own spawn with 30 damage, i could buy an entire bank

Afterall, if nascaring with fast things and then brawling wasn't the only possible main meta, why is everyone playing like that?

All you have to do is rotate and farm slow things at the back, than clap clap yourself pretending to be a good pilot

Unless you had to give me a dollar every time an assault vaporizes a light and the light ends the game with less than 30 damage. Then you'd be broke.

hard to do that if you bring max skill tree on your firestarter/flea
the survival tree on lights is broken......imagine that if you land a dual heavy gauss into the CT of a flea with full survival tree it doesn't even die.............agree though that some lights are too fragile, like the cougar for example

i ma doing it almost every game, we run 3 flea 17 lfe max, 7 smalllasers full agility full survival (its heat neutral anyways) and we **** the queue

lights are not all weak or all OP, there are various categories, flea 17 and cipher 9micropulse+6machineguns are OP broken, cougars ravens and adders are trash

if nascaring was not OP, why is everyone nascaring? this is my question

i don't think a lot of the light cheese tactics work very well in higher tiers where players have good situational awareness and are actually capable of good aim and proper leading of targets. in lower tiers they are a lot more effective. middle tier players who want to hunt lights will use streak or pulse boats as dedicated light hunters, those mechs stick out like a sore thumb and can be avoided with a modicum of experience and a few taps of the r key (never engage a target unless you know its loadout).

I'd love to see video of that. Using any is light. lct and fles are virtually the same mech any way. The only two lights is have able to survive that is urb and pnt with all armor on the front ct. If you have any time on a sunday I have the day off in gmt time zone. I'll be more than happy to max out any of my lights' survival and build to it any way you want then stand there and do nothing to put your highly false claim to the test with bandicam recording it all.

We could do it to all seven lcts, all the leas and hell even the ach just to be sure it's not a one time fluke in private matches. If those lights don't die to that dhr shot I'll buy you some mc and gift it. Unless it's prove even at point blank you can't hit a light that is stationary.

You just go in your mechlab, flea max skill tree, and read the armor+structure value.....you don't need 200 IQ to do that...

Ill go and grab a screenshot for y'all.

With my modest 14-point survival tree the CT of a flea has a total of 47 points of armour and structure put together. With full survival it goes up to 54 as seen in this screenshot:

I like putting so much into the firepower tree that I don't tend to have that much survival on my lights, but those large percentages they gain compared to heavier mechs sure are substantial, especially when applied to base values given by armour or structure quirks.

oh goddamnit, right as I was about to post my own findings.

Everything I had found more or less backs up that yes, it is technically possible to survive a DHG hit to the CT in a flea.

However, the full survival tree investment isn't done very often on lights, as people are also putting points into firepower, sensors, mobility, and auxilliary.

There's one thing that hasn't been accounted for, though - With your full survival investment, your side torso still can't take a DHG hit, and you're running an XL engine. They don't need to go for your CT.

~hmm~

It might just be me but I also think that it shouldn't take an IQ of 200 to recognize that using such an edge case - one that also is more or less a hypothetical when looking at the likelyhood of seeing that particular build in practice - doesn't make a strong case for the idea that the Flea-17 is actually "overpowered" and / or will survive double heavy gauss hits on a regular basis or that the survival tree is "broken" when it comes to Lights.

Such claims - to me at least - actually look just as intellectually dishonest as the claims a certain other forum user tends to make.

You can't really run a 3/4man group of Div A comp players that are then using a set strat, synced mechs/builds and comms in SoupQ and then try to claim it is OP.

That's ridiculously influenced and bias "test". It is not what the vast majority of other players experiences are going to be at all.

Not an edge case at all, survival tree and agility tree on lights is far stronger than on otherchassis, of course you think lights suck if you don'use those.
You must run survival and agility on a light, they are just too strong to ignore them

The vast majority of players is experiencing the exact same thing, litterally everyone i know complains that we overbuffed lights.
The only ones that are ok with this bul***** nascar brawl meta are, ofc, only those who like that particular playstyle....but wait....wasn't our role to enforce forgotten playstyles??? If it is so, why after 2 months the game is still only a nascar brawl? How is buffing accells decells on lighs meds by 20-30, and turn rates too, while giving 2-3 accell decell buff to assaults and no turn rate buff going to make this nascar brawl meta less meta? If anything the meta will become more meta. As it happened with the small laser smallpulse class overbuff we did.

Ash, if going fast and nascaring while ****** **** at the back was not OP as ****, either because too strong or too easy, why is everyone doing just THAT since years??? Can you answer to this question? Because until now noone could.
If nascar fast brawl is not THE meta, why everyone does that? Is everyone stupid?

Nascar happens because holding a power position takes coordination in both the MechLab and among players in the match that doesn't exist among random players with random builds on random maps.

So why back in 2014 and 2015, when trading weapons were actually a thing, and light/mediums didn't have a skill tree 4 times stronger than the one of the assaults, there was no nascar at all and people jump sniped and traded across the map? Even randoms?
Because randoms only do what is strong and easy to do, not what is weak and hard to do....and currently nascar brawl is both too strong, and too easy....

Yes yes, and we all know that lights are strong and easy, assaults are weak and hard. *Laughs*
