Yesterday I was cored by a PIR in my KDK3 with absolutely no chance to shoot back. Why did it happen?
  • my positioning
  • my tunnel vision
  • nascar that I did not expect
  • PIR pilots tactical play, he did not even try to engage. He passed up moments to shoot my back and vanish.20 sec and his second attack later my CT was gone

In short: He played well, I played bad

The minority here really is to be pitied... The rest of us are going to need to find ways to help them cope with the forthcoming reality that small/fast mechs will, and indeed should, be doing similar damage-per-game as fatter/slower mechs after The Cauldron's armor quirkening and eventual rescale of the light class, which will ostensibly allow the average light pilot to engage more frequently without being deleted.

A rude awakening is in store for those who think lights are already OP... (Though in all honesty I don't think many really believe that nonsense at all, despite what they may be posting... they just don't like being killed by something 'small', and so resort to ego-soothing hyperbole.)

I believe the term butthurt? Haha.

Seriously though - I don't recall the amount of nonsense being touted back in 2017/2018. Lights were not a high feature back then just as they are now.

Of course the odd Assault low tier guy had a whine about some guy have a nibble on his behind and refused to admit it was his own gameplay that let it happen.

It's definitely be interesting to see what happens and how many "forgot" what the game played like back in '17/'18 to varying degrees. With added changes and rebalancing it's going to be quite similar yet in some places specifically different.

Suffice to say I can't wait to see how it all goes.

What is happening to lights? I only know players make some maths and rebalance the game. And the next big thing is the resize of mechs. Together with mobility buffs to many bigger chassis it is an impactful change for lights. Will they really get armor to compensate?

Your Fail ...You use a Assault als New Player ...the biggest slowest Target, thats like a Marine Cadet have the Command over a Battleship and come in the range of a Submarine and the Support Fleet make her own Tactic.
When Lights so OP ,Why you not self use Lights?

Assaults and lights not the chassies for new Players, thats both extreme Chassies, one fail and Dead! mediums and Heavys the best Mechs for beginners ,thats allrounders and can handle the most situations with the best Mix of Armor,Weaponpower and Speed.Thats the simple True .live with it or die further in Assaults, im self not a Fan of Assaults since MW4, and in mW4 the Assaults was better in Speed and Movement. In my Clans CC and CSJ Loki, Thor and Timber,Stromcrow,Nova was the Mainactors

Ok...

Where is your problem? I simply wrote, that I played bad in this ONE game. And died to a light in this ONE game. Not more, not less. I did not blame the light pilot, but reflected what I did wrong. The way it should be. I died fast? I reflect my actions and try to do it better next time. It is the way to improve, you know? Thats the simple truth. Not the brain dead "play heavies or die further in assaults".

Not every medium/heavy is an all rounder and a lot of them are NOT good for beginners. Further more, starting to learn in an assault (or in light) learns you A LOT about dynamics on the battlefield as well as situational awareness and positioning.

PS: Why do you think I am a new player?

Why you than cry by ONE Match ?Posted Image

Each of the Players here has bad Situations, a Bad Day or this ...im look around the corner ,and 5 Mechs against you, or a Lucky Headshot kill you

Im died self in Assaults ..try to move with a Atlas in Crimson to the Group and a Piranha came over the Ridge and scrapped my back in Seconds before im can bring my Back to a wall, or a Light stand of my Feets and im can not hit him with my weapons :D thats like Battlestar Galactica online, you fly with a Corvet and a Fighter sitting in the Dead Zone from the own Weapons and you can nothing do.

You nickname say me nothing, ok than you not the big Poster in Forum over the Years :) sorry for that.

I did not cry about this one match. I simply shown where the faults are to search if you were killed by enemy light in an assault. And in most situations the one to blame is the assault pilot or his team, who left him alone.
And never the OPness of the light mechs as they are not OP at all.

And why you do not know me: I am casual, playing on/off since ~2016 with a looong family break in between.

There is obviously some major language barrier here. So let's not read into some statements more than there is, shall we?

If the rescale ever happens, the worst offenders (Flea, Locust, Piranha, Commando), people keep complaining about, are not getting a sizeable (sic!) rescale, if I remember correctly.

Good. People need to learn to play as a team or at least to aim again.

makes me wonder when people will complain about the spiders being able to just too high

looking at the flea video i am glad it survived 2 gauss round and survived would'nt be fun if people could kill you outright by just looking at you that said if that flea was using xl engine a shoulder shot would kill it more or less getting legged/cored in a locust by a ac-20 is bad enough

so i looked at the pir-1/2 a stock factory fresh mech is effectivly a glass cannon (training grounds) sure it can deal monster damage but if spotted and countered its dead or crippled to the point a laser or two will knock it out neither of these carries ecm/stealth so these should be easy to pick up.

Some people will never be happy. Because they are projecting their problems.

Some players are complaining that (essentially) can not hit light 'Mechs.

What will they do after light 'Mechs become even smaller? Posted Image

Ash can correct me if he has any new/different information, but presently The Cauldron is working on an internal consensus for increased armor quirks to the light class (very much needed because the newly increased velocities to PPFLD has made it even more dangerous for lights than it was before, in addition to the improved agility of heavier mechs).

The reason for going straight to armor quirks as opposed to rescale is that it is much simpler to program. The rescale will require work from PGI developers/programmers as opposed to just inputting values provided by The Cauldron, and will be further down the line before it is implemented... possibly a year or more

Ideally, the key attributes of armor/structure, mobility, and scale/hitboxes will be used to balance the four weight classes against each other so that classes with lower firepower can engage more frequently yet still survive and contribute as much to their respective team as any other class (pilot skill being equal), just as classes with greater firepower are presently able to engage effectively and survive by virtue of their armor values.

Not every Light is getting smaller. Firestarter needs it. Commando does not.

I mean, it's also better for balance. Size has always been a really crappy way to balance anyway. Being hard to hit because you're nimble and can pull off crazier stunts is good because really good Light pilots are harder to hit than really bad Light pilots. Being hard to hit because you're small is bad because everyone is equally small.

I'd say scale, armor, and mobility (specifically agility) are all necessary components to balancing classes against each other. If you scaled mechs to the point even players with the worst aim could hit them, we'd have a light class that was all the size of Jenners or larger with massive armor to compensate, which would drastically reduce the variety of play styles.

I know for a fact I am getting hit in my flea by way more players with worse aim with the new PPFLD velocities than I was before... And not directing this at you specifically, but for anyone who feels that they have difficulty aiming, there are tons of browser-based 'aim' and 'reaction' training apps that you can do for 10 or 15 minutes a day that I guarantee will help you. People wouldn't show up at the gym to play pick up basketball games if you never practiced by yourself enough to know you could make a basket? In video games though, for some reason every player thinks they should instantly and automatically have the same skill and aim as everyone else without practicing though, and if something is hard for them that means the offending phenomenon should be nerfed...
