This could be my new fav from my least fav, and I wanna say thank you for giving us a vid and this map. Also I’m very hyped about hpg coz I used to love that map in the early days but player habits like nascar ruined it so looking forward to that.

The new map (why polar highlands? it looks more like polar city or polar base) looks great, but the first impression is this is a quite different map, not a fix, and the gameplay is going to be also completely different. Thus IMO, the old one should stay in the map pool, and btw please, bring back the old canyon and TT

Looks good until you realise that this is a death trap map for any slower mechs or non-jump capable mechs with the ruinous channelling and vertical cliff sides - this is what was destroying FW maps where combat was forced through choke points.

Once again, a map created not so much for MWO but for death match arena games etc. where you can bounce along or up walls with little or no effort. Polar Highlands wasn't perfect, but there was plenty of cover if you used it with a modicum of though, rather than just running to the centre.

While I don't doubt Francois's pedigree in designing platform maps, he has again shown he does not appreciate the mechanics and interplay of MWO and mechs. The last thing we needed was another Canyon update, but here we go again - poor.

It looks great thanks Anything that lowers the LRM count in the game is a pleasure to play.

That said if lurms are feeling left out there is still Canyon and Alpine to play on.

I really liked the openness of the old map. Felt so different than all the other maps. (Before anyone asks, no, I don't even own a LURMboat!) The new map IMO deserves a new name anyway. How about Polar Base?

If they kept the old Polar Highlands around, they would still need to add a sparse smattering of buildings and/or big rocks here and there on the unaltered terrain in areas virtually devoid of them. There were too many sections where a Mech doing spotting work could take up positions and make it far too easy for their Team to wreck the opposition. During that time, the spotter could sometimes function unabated. Some minimal modicum of cover would still have to be added on the old Polar Highlands just to lessen the level of impunity by which it could happen. :(

As for the name, you may be right about that... particularly if the old Polar Highlands returns to be played on with the kind of changes I've suggested here. :o


Anyway, here's to waiting for the ability to check out what they currently call "Polar Highlands Reborn" in the nearby future. B)

People are so quick to claim the map is bad (or good) for various reasons without playing on it. Wait until the patch to make your assessments.

For now to me it seems that the literally only battlefield has been turned into an arena of sorts. We'll see.
