Warden Pack Ecm And Other Things

Im am rethinking my anger and prejudices
The game is old and so am I ,
they have done pretty good. better than the credit I gave them
Ill admit I love the Mechwarrior Universe , and this is the best game
(not perfect) I know about.
That all said I may be Buying the Warden Pack , I think it is worth it
not only the mechs , But I would like to encourage they Guys working
on the game (EVEN those I don't know about)
So I started this thread, for people to talk about the 2 Mechs, both have
ECM
I have found that using ECM in any Mech will Up your Game and Help
your team mates, it is in my Opinion the Singe greatest secoundary
weapons system you can use
And looking at the Timber Wolf , it Quirks (remember you cant change out
Omni Pods and retain the quirks) It has a 100% sensor range increase,
also High mounted energy Hard points !
Any PPC sniper would be crazy not to own this Mech
and then the Dire Wolf? ECM with 8 Ultra or even ordinary AC 2s
any way what do you think should I buy it? will you ?, we can just wait till
non hero version comes out ?

I've seen people run it with seven medium pulse lasers and (presumably) a mess of DHS, something like this: TBR-BH cMPL Brawler. That design feels like it could potentially compete with the Linebacker as a frontline scrapper; the Linebacker's faster and more durable*, the Timber Wolf has an extra laser's firepower and drastically better cooling, as well as the advantage of ECM.
I've outfitted my TBR-BH non-special - which I will not be selling, beeteedubs - as an autocannon-centric brawler. Quack/10 with five cMPL outputs a lot of pressure and has the option to reach out to enemies at midrange. If the cannon jams up in close? five cMPL is enough to carry fights, and again - advantages of ECM.
The Whale-Charlie is...less stellar. The actually pretty nice set-of-8 bonuses are somewhat sabotaged by the thing having crap hardpoints for a Dire Whale; the best I could do is two cLPL, four cERML and two ATM-12s, which has not performed as well as I'd hoped. ECM helps it not get razzberry'd the instant it shows up, but ECM doesn't make you smaller or harder to hit. The thing's actually got some decent(ish) hops with six nodes in the Jump Jets tree to get all the burn duration, but generally you need to swap in some ballistic hardpoints to get Whale-acceptable levels of firepower. Which means arms and the S right torso specifically if you want to keep your jump capacity, limiting options. I'm not a Whale driver in the first place, great galumphing land barge is too fat by half for my tastes, but I've got a couple of experimental fits on mine I hope may halfway salvage it.
The Pack Perks are nice. 400 GSP if you buy within the early adopter window is a nifty boost and lets you skill up all four 'Mechs if you feel like it (I did my (S) variations of both 'Mechs, but the standards get to earn their keeps), and you get some cool warhorns. I'm not actually sure how big a fan I am of the eye-searing "Enhanced Imaging" paint schemes, but you can blunt them (sorta) with recolors. The Elemental bolt-ons are hilarious, and the cockpit swag is neat.
Overall? it's not the worst twenty bucks Piranha's ever charged me. The TBR-BH is a top-flight Timberpuppy if you like Timberpuppies, I fully intend to keep and use both examples of the design the pack gave me. I'm less enthused about the Whale, but I've got a bias against Whales anyways. Plus we'll be getting a special event you need the Warden stuff to participate in here shortly, so more swag for your dollah.
If you've got twenty bucks burning a hole in your pocket, go for it. If you're choosing between buying 'Mechs and feeding yourself, don't. If you feel like Piranha's efforts this year are worth rewarding with patronage, be my guest. They got me, annoying as it is. Couldn't resist the allure of a stealthy beamvomit Timberpuppy.

The Dire C is awesome, just need to swap some omnipods (the set of 8 is less important than better weapon mounts anyhow). ECM + JJ + massive firepower on a Dire Wolf? Yes please.

These low mounts aren't ideal, but its only fair. Its already likely to eclipse all the other clan heavy omnimechs. The Sunspider ML is known for 4xLPL+ECM builds and excellent high mounts. The EBJ is known for 2xLPL+6xERML with good mounts, and the Hellbringer also does various laservomit builds with ECM and good mounts.
The TBR-BH can do 4xLPL+ECM much more efficiently than the SS and with more armor and So8, so its only fair that its mounts aren't as good. And it can do 2xLPL+5ERML+ECM more efficiently than the EBJ and HBR with S08, so again its only fair.
Or you can swap to the A side torso and do 2xLPL+6xERML+ECM and have nice mounts for the LPLs and more efficiency, but you lose the So8. You still keep the armor bonuses on the BH pods though!
Overall, the TBR-BH is still the best of these now until we see if the quirk pass will help those other mechs out.

I'll bow to your expertise on the Charlie Whale. I hate being that slow, prior to 'bout a month ago I'd never piloted a Dire Whale in my life even with my OG Invasion pack. The durned things are just too sluggish and annoying for me to deal with, especially given how fragile they are.
Have any recommendations for a Whale hater who's gonna need to slog through the bloody things for the challenge event to come?

2UAC10 5UAC5, or gauss vom (2 gauss 2erll 6 erml) should still run fine. Being in a dire always runs the risk of being left behind, but you should still be able to kill 1 mech and seriously main a 2nd even if when the nascar runs you over.
If you have the UV omnipods, the 8AC2 + ECM should be decent as well

i always felt the uv was p2w. moving those omnipods to this new dire maybe a little, but you got to give up like 3 tons of ammo to do it. the ecm module costs a ton and the ct jump jet is dead weight that you cant get rid of. so its hard capped somewhere about 1500 damage. this is fine for qp though. maybe dropping a gun for 3 more tons and a tc3.

Add the ECM and you're all set for some SUDDENLY, DIREWOLF scenarios.
OFC you can also do UAC20+2xUAC10, or just perhaps UAC20+2xUAC10+LB20X. Not enough tonnage for the 2xUAC5+2xUAC10+UAC20 build without stripping a [redacted] of armor or ammo (both of which are already tight on the OG).

Yeah, my group has been having a great time sneaking up 3 of these on the enemy with a fast medium scouting.

yea the first half of the beach party event had plunged me way down to middle tier 3. i was in t2 previously. then the pack drops and im almost to t2 again. its definitely providing upward mobility. though i atribute it to the fact that the timby is vomit, and the uv omnipods i put on my dwf-c(s), that was one of my stronger dwf builds, and im generally pretty good with a dire.

2x LPL, and the rest is some sort of Medium Laser of your choice (I chose 4x MPL; others might want ERML).
Does not sound like much, just 6 lasers?
But you can stuff your entire Dire Wolf with DHS heat sinks, with a few tons leftover with maxed out armor.
Runs quite cool

i kept the non-s version with the stock omnipods. though i swapped out the ppcs for lpls and the atms for extra ssrms. its workable. the (c) version inherited the 8xcac2 build from the ultraviolet, though with only 8 tons ammo instead of 11. i turned the ultraviolet into an atm42+ssrm10+2xlpl build, which does better than you would think.

The Timberwolf is really good though. I tried a few pulse laser builds after being initially skeptical of 2 lpl plus 5 erml, but the sustain is exceptional. Heck with 3 lpl and heatsinks you can completely ignore ghost heat.
