More and more I think owning the middle on nuHPG is simply the power play.

Own the middle and win the game.

Been running the Mist Lynx-G with 8x MGs and 4x Flamers. All I gotta say is "what a POS". This thing needs like +20 more armor to its arms. Enemies just look at it, and the arms come right off; which is awful, given that the arms are where all the Hardpoints are, and they're hitboxes are massive AF.

Otherwise though, I've been enjoying the changes to the Assaults and the Cougar. The Highlander and Victor are feeling much better.

I tend to agree, if you own the middle you decide when and where to engage the wall people

Center is where the snipers herd you to be farmed.. i should know :D

There is so much cover in the center from snipers... the snipers are just feeding on you while you are distracted with the other enemies in the center. You have to control the center, not just go to the center.

I dunno.. you're right there is a lot of cover in center.. but the new and 'improved' map has soo much room to walk around on the walls now that even without jets snipers can easily reposition to re-establish an angle on the enemy and have cover to peak from .. you can call it 'controlling the center' but snipers would call it 'herding the enemy' into a small spot in center of map..

They have to move a great linear distance around the circumference of the wall. Not so bad for littles, but bigs are going to have trouble repositioning that far, and in the mean time, you could be mopping up the guys in the center.

So... uh... are they going to change the load-in screen for HPG? It still features images from the original map.

Yep most games on HPG and I'm upto around 50 now - all 200m-600m fights. While wall/long range snipers are annoying they often do not nearly exert enough pressure on a match for it to matter.

That and fast light/med players are finally working out now how to get up there and absolutely manhandle them as well. Took a week but I am definitely seeing a shift in play there.

Wall needs a little bit of cover removed and that is really it. HPG overall now is great, there is so much more you can do on it as well.

Bombadil said they will update all of loading screens probably at the same point. Not sure why not do it right away, it's not a big challenge, but it was said they will do it at some point.

Had some decent matches with my Keeper (brawl setup) and Dire Wolf (midrange laservomit/uac-build). Hugging the cover in the middle helps alot and you're safe most of the time from the wall snipers. And in the end, your team still can go below and wait for them to come. xD

That was one of the new additions....

Walls also need a few ramps removed (if you want to get up there, build the ends of the walls into the dirt at the edge of the map, and move the map boundary back to give room).

Hmmm... and here I was thinking we needed to add more to HPG's layout still. (I'm really not trying to be some painfully difficult nut here, but am trying to bring up a potential concern. Sorry for any aggravation!) For example, why are four of the entrances from the outside to the inside (namely C4/C5, D6/E6, F5/F4, E3/D3) still not bridged over in order to complete the upper decking? Having those gaps only makes it all too easy for Light Mechs to escape anything bigger, thus causing that map to remain in a potentially unbalanced state. Also as another point of discussion, why is there a spot in C6/D6 on the upper wall zone where you can go one way, but may be unable to go the other if you lack JumpJets and/or enough speed/size on the Mech which you're using? I actually liked having Incursion Game Mode for all the added gameplay which it made possible on many maps. In summary, there is simply just so many extra things which could potentially enhance HPG for combat, and yet none of them have been done. If you're somehow able to, and Matt/Daeron/Francois/Mark have not already picked up on them first, please pass these thoughts along to all of them, even if you flatly don't agree with them. I would like to see MWO survive well into the future, and they need to know that there are additional points of view out there to consider anyway, even if they don't develop based on any of it. :(

On an alternate topic, I want to second an observation that was brought up earlier: following the missile door change, the missiles are now firing THROUGH the door, with the doors opening afterwards, which looks absolutely asinine (I'm sensing a theme, here). There needs to be SOME delay, just enough for the doors to clear the missile path before they fire.

And besides: you've removed an element of skill that used to be present in this game, and isn't that the big argument that's constantly thrown around? "Git Gud"? Everything is supposed to be "skill based" and all that...

There are maps in the MWO that I really dislike. But the new HPG causes only disgust in me, the strongest disgust. Literally every drop on this map, I struggle with the temptation to simply leave the battle, without even taking a step from the spawning place.
