Of course not. It's the online gaming-specific version of the "I have mastered twelve forms of Kung-Fu!" Internet Tough Guy argument. "My real account is a top-tier comp account!" Happens all the time as a nice, conveniently unprovable cover for folks who don't have the chops to hold their own in a discussion/debate/argument.

What's sad is that being a top-flight compy player doesn't even matter to most of these discussions, save as a framing device on where your viewpoint comes from. If your arguments are sound and based in observable reality, you're fine even if you're a low-tier tater. You just have to take into account the differences between what you're seeing and what high-tier taters are seeing and how it may impact your ideas. If you can argue from that basis, top-flight compy guys like A S H are perfectly willing to discourse with you.

If your arguments all stem from "I got shot up by a light player and I don't like it!" followed by a Grampa Tex-level nonsensical rant except without the comedy and self-awareness and with absolutely no plan or proposal beyond "nerf the thing I don't like"? Yeah - you're gonna get called out as a tater and dismissed because you're providing absolutely nothing of any meaning, distinction, or merit. Same with the constant LRM complaints. Same with the constant Dirty Clammer complaints. Even if something is off to the point where "this sucks, I don't like it" complaints are valid, the critical factor there is weight of opinion. A lot of people have to feel the same sort of "something is off" reaction for it to be worthwhile. That's indicative of a real issue somewhere in the game that should be investigated and addressed...but even in that case, the psychotic ranting is unhelpful and mostly serves to discredit you from the opinion pool.

Ironically, even if you can provide your "my other account is a toppy-compy account!" name that will hold true. Psychotic ranting never works.

Sometimes i miss our "remove things i dont like from the games and buff what I do like" boy. Elbow dropping him in every thread he decided to derail gave me something to do on slow work days.

The bay doors aren't an issue anymore. The Hellspawn is stronger now, considerably so. It's quickly becoming one of my favs, with several good variants and builds for them. The 7P and 8E are doing work now.

Hellspawn has 2 center torsos.

The mad2 has equal issue where side torso is a center torso but this can be avoided.

Normally 1/3 of all attacks hits the side torsos, Hellspawn gets hit 1/2 into the bay door who then destroys 2 components.

Equally happens on the bunny ear where the bunny ear is targeted.

Games I (not only just this specific pilot) have played. I save end-of-match screenshots. I built an automated OCR pipeline to extract match data and save it in tabular form.

The Hellspawn's left-shoulder missile torso also has the durability of a center torso, and with the rework to bay doors they're a strict upgrade and a huge bonus to 'Mechs that have them. They're not bad, by Sphere 45-tonner standards.

Yup. The bump to LPPCs was a nice boon too. The 7P doesn't get the bunny ears, and as such has a nice low, overall profile. Energy slots are all clustered together, allowing for the 3 LPPCs to have excellent convergence on a single target area. It's almost an AC-20 at range. Back it up with some SRMs or rockets, to flavor, and it's a great executioner like the Hunchie 4g. Stay in the pack and finish off the wounded. No ECM required.

Bingo. I use mine exactly like that, with light peeps and MRM's. Left side shield with that damage reduction!

so now that the new patch has dropped. i have noticed a change in my light encounters. they are now face tanking the damage because they can afford it. and engagements are now lasting longer which is bad because thats more time im at risk of being blasted to bits by incoming.

Amen brother... Ciphers and Sabres should not be able to face tank Heavies, let alone Assaults. Watching a Piranha shake off a direct hit to the face from my Mad Cat is frustrating.

Do you mean "head shot"?

I mean, the cockpit hitbox is quite small, especially on the already tiny 'Mech such as the Piranha.

Even with the armour buffs, a light can't facetank. It still can't win a straight dps race (short of minranging a ppc, atm or lrm boat) and needs to use it's speed and agility to evade incoming fire or elude detection entirely. The armour buffs ensure that it isn't oneshot from rounding the wrong corner, but a direct hit from any pinpoint, high alpha setup is still devastating, especially if it catches a leg.

Just because you're driving a Mad Cat, doesn't mean you have a good build for killing lights. What was the build? High PPFLD (PPC, Dakka or Gauss)? Or DOT weapons like lasers? We don't shrug off laser hits, but you have to stay on target for the entire duration to get your damage in. If the light stands still, and you get to put a full heavy Clan laser alpha into the component you're aiming for (CT) the fish will quite likely die by the end of the burn. Now add twisting to the mix and it becomes apparent that it's pretty easy to spread beam damage on a fast moving light. Most folks don't track component targets on the move that well, not nearly as well as some here talk at least. Good aim with PPFLD is the most efficient method of removing us in one fell swoop.

Yea, yea. Lights aren't OP at all. They don't win matches for their teams. Yeah.

In this very screenshot three enemy lights have combined less than 400 damage, including a Piranha with double digit damage. Sounds like we need to buff lights, appreciate you providing evidence

Don't mention the PIR with 46 damage, likely long dead, as well as the 2 Urbies and Inky with sub 200...

This doesn't make the case you think it does.
