Pheonix Hawks and Stalkers are half off, any recommendations, and why?
What makes said stalker/pheonix hawk variant unique to play?

PXH-2 Phoenix Hawk can be equipped with the Guardian ECM suite and it offers good hardpoints.

STK-3Fb Stalker can be equipped with the Guardian ECM suite too.

ecm everywhere to get you to spend money here. Lrmers are going to have to tag now or go mrms since all the ecm mech count keeps going up.

Sadly LRM boats have been pretty much killed for the most part due to constant nerfs and the proliferation of ECM (seriously, are we in the Jihad period now?), the former mostly due to noskill whiners and the latter because ECM is really really good in-game.

The PHX and Stalker ECM variants have been in the game for many years.

Both are now, since the buffs, excellent mechs for each variants role.

They have been used in Comp matches for many leagues.

I would say if you think they are not good that it is a player issue. It most certainly is not a mech issue.

You should play more before you jump to conclusions...

Phoenix Hawks are really good skirmisher because they are so fast and agile. And the new mech quirks make them even better.

And selling mechs is never a good idea.

most stalkers are fine mechs, the p-hawk CAN be excellent to, depending on the variant and configuration; yes, it is a very BIG mech, but it also is very nimble/agile. the 7? spl or 6medlasers - configs (forgot the variant, look it up yourselves :P) are quite strong.

Agreed... the PXH-2, -1b, and -7S especially are very capable units. As a Steiner fan I was looking forward to the -7S and I was not disappointed.

Funny, I remember the DoA-crys back in the day, but ever since the buff on the arm armour the PXH was a good choice. Some people just never looked at it properly and the bad reputation stuck.
(...which was overblown anyway imo; any medium Mech with six energy hardpoints, JJ, ECM and not totally mishapen geometry like the PXH-2 is useful almost by default).

I’ve been doing very well with the Phoenix Hawk 7S kitted out with 1 Large Laser and 6 Mediums. The combination of MASC and 6 JJ is excellent for any map with vertical terrain. Only the more experienced players know how to effectively skirmish a mech that constantly jumps OVER them.

I'd really like to see the load out for this, I'm still looking for something different than the standard 6-7 ML build.

The PXH-1B [edited] can be incredibly annoying. I run mine with stealth armor and a light gauss. It's hilarious seeing an entire enemy team lose coherency because they can't find the invisible mech sniping them from behind. I've also stopped more than few base caps because the capping mechs ran away once I started sniping.

PXH-2 has no ballistic hardpoint.

And yeah, PXH-1B is annoying...been on its receiving end before...

Agreed. I also tried the PXH-1k after the recent buffs and had a lot of fun with a 2LL/6ERML build. You only go 95kph but the range quirks give you a 48 pt pinpoint alpha at almost 500m.

speaking bout ecm i made a personal vow that non of my assaults will have ECM hardpoints ...
that said you always have bap and UAVs as a counter ... LRMmers aren´t dead ... you just have to play less braindead with that build ..

It's a fairly simple build. LIght 250 engine, LL right torso, medium lasers everywhere, leave the jets and the Masc, max the armor. And throw 6 points on the Jump Jet skill tree to get all 5 burn-time nodes so you have +30% jump juice.
